  1. I can't wait to hear what the Yost-backers have to say about this. Because, you know, we're all so negative and get on his back way too much. Someone tell me how you justify this.
  2. Seriously. We can't use Shouse (who's pitch count over the past few days I can't find quickly) because we're afraid of overuse. A guy who faces one, maybe two batters at a time. But we can use Gagne for the 4th straight day. If there isn't a question about this to Ned, I might scream.
  3. I love that Bill is concerned about the overuse of Shouse, but said no such thing about Gagne.
  4. Phillips is having a Ricky Weeks AB.
  5. Um, it was a save situation. Gagne is the closer. Ned had NO choice. Even if Gagne's arm had fallen off, and he had to go up there and pitch with his foot, he'd have to go in there to get that 2-run lead save. I sure hope that post should have been in blue.
  6. Because it was a tie game in late innings and the likelihood of extra innings was high. Since we're carrying 14 pitchers, we have only 3 backup position guys on the bench - one of them is the backup catcher, so we hold him until we absolutely have no choice. Pinching for Yo in that situation is a waste of a position/pinch hitter. It's just a bunt, something all pitchers are supposed to be able to do and even if it was a hit situation, I might have left Yo in since he'd already hit Harang earlier.
  7. Agreed. We didn't have anyone that matched his arm. We always had a running joke about Jenkins' ill-timed and ineffectual "hot streaks." We're down by 8 and that's when Geoff hit the completely useless to us solo HR. We're 12 games back, but Geoff's got an 8 game hit streak - that kind of thing. Always made me smile.
  8. I'll be sitting in the corner, trying to decide whether or not I want to claim to be one of you people.
  9. I have found with the college ticket thing that it totally depends on which ticket agent you go to. Two seasons ago I bought them in advance, but last season was told that they had to be bought day-of-game. Someone on the phone didn't know the answer at all.
  10. I'm a Time Warner digital subscriber and while the "guide" said that last night the game would be on, it was not for the first two hours. From 7-9 was some Best Damn stuff and then at 9, they showed a highlight only version. This wasn't the same as last year's fastforward where you saw each pitch. This was literally just the runs. In fact, they never did show Prince's homer. I was on my laptop at the same time and thought maybe I missed it, but I rewound and still no homer. They showed it at 3-3 with Prince up next and I think a pitching change, went to commercial and came back to have Gagne pitching. That being said, I've watched 2 other night replays of day games, so not sure what last night was.
  11. I just thought it was spectacular to see Prince jumping around the dugout with the big grin on his face. He said he tried to keep composed, but felt like a little-leaguer. I think the whole team could use a dose of that.
  12. During the final batter Powell was saying that the bullpen had been flawless and all I could think was "god, don't jinx it!"
  13. Was Braun's dive appropriate? Jim made it sound like an odd choice.
  14. It's official. Crazy Joe has voodoo.
  15. YES!!!!! I just embarrassingly yelled that out at work.
  16. No, because I was thinking the same thing last night in the 9th when Rickie was up. This is what he's good for, you know?
  17. LOVE those not-so-much-a-check-swing strikes. Because we really should help opposing pitchers strike us out.
  18. Seth McClung says eat it to all the detractors, is our best pitcher of the past 3 games...
  19. For the record - Dave Bush has a better BA than Gross.
  20. Uecker just claimed that this wasn't a bad outing for Manny
  21. Has any word come out about Kapler? They've made it seem like the shoulder was no big deal, but we're at 3 straight games without him in CF and he certainly would have been a better PH option in the past two games, right?
  22. Is there a name for the line below the Mendoza line? Because Gross is making the Mendoza line look positively sexy right now.
  23. And the sign we have officially gave up: Seth McClung is up!
