  1. We have a day game tomorrow. We have to pull Turnbow so that the guys can get back to the hotel at a decent hour.
  2. 18-5 is officially the worse beatdown of the day. I don't care that the Cubs had 13 runs when Derrick came in, whenever I get heckled for this game, I'm blaming it all on him.
  3. It's painful to listen to Brian and Bill try to justify and explain Turnbow.
  4. Why does the Hairy Canadian sound like he's got a mix between a Yupper and a Southern accent?
  5. Forget the SI cover curse, we've got the "nationally televised" curse
  6. I just said that on the phone. Put him in now. "Kid, you've got four innings to work out your command issues. Go!"
  7. On the plus side, the Pirates beat the Mets 13-1 today, so we're not the worst beat-down today!
  8. Forgot image, sorry. http://joe.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/pMLB2-3135002dt.jpg
  9. I bought this last year and still haven't worn it, so I'm trying to recoup a bit of my losses. It's a women's XL in Royal Blue (not the Navy that's pictured) and it has the retro ball and glove logo at the collar and the 25th Anniversary patch on the arm. I'm posting a file pic because the one's I took at home didn't turn out. I'll try again shortly. In the meantime, it's never been worn and I paid a pretty penny for it. I'm looking to get in the $50 range for it. PM me with questions!
  10. Can someone explain to me any legitimate reason for the Wave? If you're that bored, go home. And really, question why you came in the first case. It's a baseball game. They're long and slow. If you're not into it, don't force the rest of us to deal with your boredom. I just can't wrap my head around why grown adults get so excited about something that literally happens at every sporting event. It's not like it's novel anymore. You stand up for 3 seconds and yell. Woo Hoo! What's the point? What do you get out of it?
  11. This season a group in left field has started the "UW" version of the wave at all 5 games I've been to, which leads me to believe it's now most every game. The appeal of the slow-mo, fast-forward, split and reverse are that A.) they're a UW thing so therefore B) they're special. Doing them every Brewer game takes something from that. In addition, it lasts entirely too long to be feasible for a baseball game. The stoppages aren't that long. Plus, most people there don't know it and so the fast-forward tends to go around 2 or 3 times and the reverse and split rarely work. It's so overdone at MP.
  12. It's extremely difficult to get a job at any level of professional sports. You don't turn anything down, especially for something as silly as fanship. Take whatever's offered to you. You need to get your foot in the door.
  13. My point is that Ned tends not to look at season long numbers and instead will go with the guy who is currently "hot." In this instance, it's Bill, so I was surprised that he didn't just automatically go that way. I wasn't actually giving an opinion on either player, just that I was surprised because I think Ned's tendencies would have led him to Bill, not to the two being even.
  14. The purple is like every 7 to 9 minutes, closer at peak times. I just prefer Linden because the parking is right there, it's lit and I feel more secure. You're in a residential area. I have had problems finding parking at Howard and prefer not to have to walk to a parking garage in an area I'm not familiar with. It's all a matter of personal preference. As for the tolls, I thought there was a toll at the freeway exit for Howard and I don't think there's one at the exit for Linden. I could be wrong.
  15. I take the purple line from the Linden station and transfer to the red line at Howard. The Linden is the farthest North station and has it's own park and ride. Parking is $2 for 24 hours and it's a few minutes from the Freeway. It's in Wilmette. I've done this several times. You're further north than the Howard and therefore avoid a toll or two as well as more city traffic. It's directly south on 43/94. I wouldn't recommend any other way! There's maps and directions directly on the CTA website.
  16. In this instance, yes. Ned's always about riding the hot bat, so I'm surprised it was even a decision for him.
  17. If it's between Bill's PH/Double Switch Home Run and his five hits in two games vs. Rickie's .199 BA, I don't know how it could have been "even."
  18. I've been looking everywhere but can't find the info as to how I'll receive my money if I owed the Fed money on my 2007 return? I paid them electronically out of my bank account, so does that count when they're talking "Direct Deposit"?
  19. I inherited a 1989 Turquoise Chevy Cavalier 2-door stick shift from my older brother that had lace striping custom painted down the side. No kidding, there was a 3 inch wide stripe of white lace painting. "The Lacemobile." I junked it in 2001 when I bought my first Ford Focus. All things considered, that lacey beast served us well. It was 12 years old when I drove it between New Orleans (college) and here a few times. Trusty steed!
  20. There have been multiple stories this week about how the rebates are going out quicker than they thought. Basically if you read on article on this before, all the date information has changed. Though, I think there's a schedule on Direct Deposit, same as checks. I thought it was 00-21 will have direct deposits by May 2.
  21. Hey, I took that picture of JJ!
  22. There isn't much right around the stadium. It's Minute Maid, parking, freeway, and the Convention Center. The last time I was there, I drove in from New Orleans and we wanted to get something to eat before we got back on the road. It's the business district, so pretty much everything was closed. We ended up getting back on the road and eating fast food. The only place I remember is directly across the street from the main doors and reminds me a bit of the bars around Wrigley. There's not really a demarcation between inside and out, there's a small fence and a lot of people. As for walking to and from the hotel, I would have to say that it depends in which direction it is from the stadium. I'm trying to picture it in my head for orientation purposes. Presumably the hotel is in the downtown district and therefore I would say you should be fine. The best suggestion I can give is to be smart. If it's midnight and there are a few people about, you'll be fine. If you're the only ones on the street at 2 am, take the cab. The last time I went we bought cheap seats and just moved down and sat right behind the dugout. You can PM me if you have more questions.
  23. I'll likely be in my powder blue Yount (biggest shirt, allows for layering underneath) in the 200 level behind home plate on Thursday afternoon. I'm taking my mom, who's never been to Wrigley, so I can't imagine we'll be too rowdy!
