WE ARE WINNING!!! WHY THE NEGATIVITY???

Bunting is a part of baseball...we are WINNING!!! What the Scrubs and Mets do is irrelevant. Dale is playing to win and at present it is working. Come on people...we have a chance to get to the playoffs! I am reading this thread and if I were not watching it I would think that we were losing and the Scrubs were up by 10.

Admit it people, Dale knows what he is doing and CC can handle this....we can do this people...we can make the playoffs then anything is possible.

This is what I was trying not to convey. My major point was that winning is not happening now. I do believe all are doing all they believe they can be doing and that they all share in the blame or the credit when things go well. I was also trying--as I would in their situation, and am sure they too are--to seek ideas for answers. Doing all you can do collectively is all well and good but when it is not working you have to keep seeking answers. Maybe the answer is to ride it out. After today's result I certainly hope that is all it was. I repeat: I was not pointing the finger at any part of the team individually, that is the part of what Rock said that I disagreed with. I pretty much avoid the vent thread as I like to stay positive, my apologies for not being clearer. Just listening to Rock talk about the Brewer's less than stellar play lately. He commented that (and I am paraphrasing here) that the coaches have done all they can do and that it is up to the players to get it done. I respectfully disagree--and I mean that as he knows far more about baseball than I ever will. The Brewers are a team. From the front office to the manager to the players on the field. Yes the players have a responsibility to produce. But the coaches have a responsibility to to coach and lead. In a single game or even a couple game slump this is not an issue bit this is an extended down time at a very crucial time. The Brewers have been winning all year especially at home. For whatever reason (pressure?) that is not happening now. It falls on all of them to find the answers together. As I said I don't want this to end up in the vent thread if possible. I think Yost has been making good decisions on the field. I know the players are trying to win. This is where champions are made though, in diversity. What I am looking for is ideas on what all involved could do to right the ship. Team meetings? Benching? Hugs? Drills? Heck I don't know. I just know that they all get the credit if they win and they all must share in the blame when they lose. I too have a responsibility...to cheer my team to glory or to the bitter end.

Not a big fan of espn but was hoping to switch back and forth on key plays to see what the buffoons had to say. This is the second time I saw the Crew being scheduled yet they are not on. Does anyone know if it is a blackout issue?

As someone who works in the emergency field I agree with you for the most point. However, as you probably know, many people in this field get complacent, burned out and many times the "cowboy factor" takes over. This person should be evaluted completly to see if she falls in any one of these categories. Just because many calls are bogus you cannot assume any call is. Working in any branch of emergency means a dedication that does not allow for complacency. (sp?). When you reach the point of bitterness, or "it's probably not a real emergency anyway", you need to move on. I don't believe that is what happened here, but do believe that it should be fully investigated regardless.

Here is something to think about regarding publishing the communicaton between TH and Adam. I work in an Emergency room that recently had a run in with a rogue police officer. He ran to a newspaper with a bunch of half truths that made us look very bad. The reality of the situation vs. what the paper alluded to were quite different. Newspapers have an incredible amount of power that sometimes is abused for the sake of selling some papers. I believe this to be the exception rather than the rule. That being said, the incredible power and responsibility of "freedom of the press" is one that should not be taken lightly or abused. If you feel--and I have found you to be an intelligent man and will respect your descision--that TH was abusing his position at a personal level, he should be called out. Not to get on a soap box but freedom of the press does not equal freedom to print any dang thing you want. BFnet has always held itself to a high standard, don't you think that the JS and it's employees should be held to an even higher standard? Having said that, I will continue to read BF.net but will add the JS to newpapers I will not purchase.

Soccer is the greatest game in the world. It has the most fans, and a long and storied history. The world cup blows away American sports in most if not all categories. It is not--however--my favorite sport. That honor goes to baseball. I think we need to remember that one's favorite sport has nothing to do (not much anyway) with a title like "greatest sport". There is professional soccer in nearly every country including the U.S. American football has failed in other countries. Basketball and baseball have fared much better overseas (baseball in Latin America as we all know is huge) but have had nowhere near the impact soccer has overall. Soccer may fail in America, but America--as great as it is--is only one country. For myself, baseball, as I said is my number one, followed closely by soccer and formula one racing. I like all of these for the same reasons. There is a great deal of strategy and a score truly counts for something. A pass in F1, or a quicker pit-stop or better fuel strategy can and often does mean the difference in the race. NASCAR has some similarities but it does adopt the American philosophy of more is better. More passing, more scoring, etc. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that and many people truly enjoy those aspects of the sports. I say all of this because whenever I listen to sports radio, read message boards or have conversations with sports fans in general a common theme is that soccer is inferior or stupid with the inference that those who enjoy it must be as well. It is a bit insulting. We all love different sports for different reasons. In America we have more freedom to enjoy our choices than anywhere else due to the fact that this is--without a doubt--the greatest country in the world. I know I rambled a bit here and am off point on the Lebron topic (I hope he stays in the US) but I hope I added something to the conversation.

Based on the uncertainty of who will be in uniform next year my goal is for World Series Victory. This team has proven it can contend with--and defeat--the very best in baseball. They have beaten the team with the best record in baseball. They had a very ligitimate shot against a proven winner in Boston. They have won on the road and until recently were awesome at home. I just struggle to see how we could improve next year so I--greedily--want it all this year.

Overall I would have to agree he has been good for the game Realignment = good Wildcard = good Lights at Wrigley...was that him? Downside: Steroids, he knew what was going on and kept blinders on. So did many others (especially players union)though so he cannot be totally to blame and he does appear to be serious about fixing it now. Allstar game: He gets poor marks for the tie and the fact that it has anything at all to do with the home field advantage. It should remain an exhibition game. I believe I heard that he was pressured into that by whatever network was carrying the game that year. I give him a B+ overall. Excellent points, and in reading yours and re-reading mine I must admit you actually said it better.

In reference to the "leaders do not admit their mistakes" comment, I must respectfully disagree. I have worked for men like this this a few times in my life. When they do not acknowledge mistakes they have zero credibility. People--for the most part--are not fooled by those who simply don't admit they were wrong, especially when it is obvious. This is not an indictment of Yost as a manager because I think he has made some great moves too. If you try something and it doesn't work, you are wrong--regardless of your logic for doing it--which may have had incredible validity at the time. People will tend to see the mistake, hear someone try to spin it, and wonder why the person can't see reality. (Evidenced by the many anti-Yost comments here) That doesn't typically make one wish to follow that person. A better approach would be to lay out your logic for what you did, admit it didn't work and move on learning from what was unsuccesful. I will agree that if you are admitting your mistakes and appear to be very unsure of yourself it will not inspire confidence. You can be confident in your abilities while still showing you are "teachable". We don't know if Yost admits his mistakes behind closed doors, my guess is he does and that is in fact the reason why his team is apparently loyal to him.

I have heard the reason you don't see WKRP in snydication is because of all the royalties that would have to be paid for the songs played on the radio station. The guy who played Stabler on Law and Order SVU played a rapist on one of the earlier Law and Order episodes.

What are the chances of Yost actually answering a question after this game? Not a Ned hater, but this one boggles me.

How is an infield dribbler and a broken bat single getting hit hard? Agreed, must keep mcclung in for at least 4 more runs before we get the bullpen up.

I am loving all the veiled comments about Yost from the commentators.

Although I know it is not popular, my favorite combo was Darin and Bill. Loved 'em and was really bummed when Darin went to Arizona. I really didn't like Brian when he first came on but he is now simply ok. I'll tell ya who I do not like and that is Bremley and the other guy...maybe cuz they are for the Scrubs, but they are the definition of annoying.

I couldn't have said it better. JJ=proven, Escobar ???. JJ is also proven to be a great teammate as well. Ultimately I would like to see Escobar in the MLB. Then the problem becomes who plays short and who plays third or second. (I am still a big Weeks fan but let 'em compete). Beyond that the priorities are Hart and Prince in that order. (Pitchers are another matter). (zzmanwitz...awesome avitar, I am a Batman geek from way back. RIP Heath.)

Part of me would actually like to see Cuban get the Cubs. While he would probably open the purse strings even more, he strikes me as someone who is more concerned with his own ego than with the team. He would probably (Yankee like) bring in the big names. Would he be able to actually put together a team that was cohesive? I don't follow basketball much so maybe someone could tell me what his success with his team has been. I don't seem to remember seeing them in the post season much.
