  1. You know the Mets are going to want to unload Reyes at the deadline. But I am willing to bet they will be looking for at least one or two good prospects though that would depend on how much of Reyes contract they are willing to eat. I like Furcal the best as a trade option he brings about the same offensive skill sets that Reyes brings and their defense is about the same. Furcal will cost less in both prospects and in terms of money. If the Dodgers are out of it I would really love to see Melvin go after Furcal. You could then move Weeks down to the #2 spot and have Furcal lead off. Same if Reyes becomes available.
  2. I hate it when the talking heads say this. You mean they learned something new about baseball in the playoffs that they already didn't know? I have never got the meaning behind this saying at all.
  3. The Brewers are definitely in the top 3 of the NL Central. I would say the Brewers have the same opportunity as the Giants did going into the 2010 season. The Phillies are definitely the favorites with the Reds, Giants, and Cardinals close behind. I would put the Brewers as equal to those three teams. The Dodgers, Braves, and the Marlins are not that far behind either. The NL is going to be very competitive this year. The NL Central maybe the most competitive of all of the divisions going into the 2011 season.
  4. The reason why Hart's arm is so awful is because of his foot work and where he catches a fly ball. When he catches a fly ball he puts himself in a horrible position to throw and his arm strength suffers because of this. Braun is the same way though he is a little bit better than Hart not by much though.
  5. Not a single mention of Gennett and Richardson looks to be a toolsy player like Cain.
  6. I would trade Fielder for Jones but not Kemp. I am not so sure or as high on Kemp. I wonder if Manny Ramirez can play 1B? Trade Prince for a Carlos Gonzalez type of a player yeah I know I am dreaming and then trade Hart and put Gamel in RF and then sign Manny to play 1B. I am not sure if I should put some of that in blue or not.
  7. What number will Greinke have as a Brewer? Weeks has 23 right now and Greinke had that number in KC. I know something small but I am just very excited for the season to start now.
  8. I see Braun and Holliday on the same level defensively the same with Rasmus and Gomez. Where the Brewers are better is in RF Hart is a bad OF but he won't have the problems that Berkman will have. Berkman is playing on two bad knees and he really is a 1B/DH option. I just don't see how Berkman is an everyday OF and how the Cardinals are going to overcome his bad defense. LaRussa is going to have to be using his bench a lot in the late innings for defensive replacements for Berkman. Which means the Cardinals lineup will be weaker in the later innings.
  9. What about Berkman in RF? That is not a good option and if Berkman plays around 100 or so games in RF that is not going to look pretty for their defense. I would put the Cardinals defense in the OF a notch below that of the Brewers. Basically the Cardinals are playing Prince in the OF right now. Their infield defense is a lot better than what the Brewers have but in the outfield with Berkman out there that is not going to be good and will only hurt the Cardinals and the OF in St. Louis is not small so this isn't like Carlos Lee playing LF for the Astros in a smallish part of the OF.
  10. That is odd. Because Gennett is nowhere near MLB ready maybe 2 years at the earliest but I would have to say he would be 3 or 4 years away.
  11. This couldnt be further from the truth. The Rays are very motivated to move salary. They need to cut another $10M, give or take, to get to the publicly stated number of 53M. Garza is in his second year of arby and is going to command over 5M. Shields is already signed for 4.25M. While Shields is certainly just as much a candidate as Garza, somebody is going to go. The Rays will be trading somebody. Price, Niemann, Davis, Sonnastine, Hellickson are all viable in that rotation without mentioning Shields and Garza. Somebody, maybe both. is going to go. They don't need to be blown away with prospects, they just need to pull the trigger on the best deal for them that dumps salary and gets the most in return. Proving my point that the Rays are not in a hurry to trade their pitching. From http://www.tampabay.com/b...not-looking-deal-starter The Rays are not going to trade Garza or Shields unless they get the right package for them. Which means something centered around Cain, Jeffress, and another high prospect like Rogers or Odorizzi.
  12. Greinke is using that as leverage basically to get a long term deal. He is probably looking for something close to what Felix Hernandez got but for a year or two longer. I believe Greinke will not block a trade if there is a long term deal attached to the trade. So I think a long term extension of at least 5-years for $100m is what you are looking at to extending Greinke. I am not sure that would be a wise move by the Brewers to do that though you would be basically locking up the rotation for the next 4-years. This contract would be adding onto what Greinke will already be getting so the Brewers would have Greinke for a total of 7-years.
  13. Actually it all depends on how the Royals scouts view the players and how the Royals management view the Brewers prospects compared to the ones that are being proposed by other teams. I still don't see Greinke going anywhere until Lee signs and that should be coming sometime this week. It won't be until after Christmas or after New Years until Greinke is traded if he is traded at all. Lawrie would have been part of the deal but I am not sure if the Royals see Lawrie as a 2B they probably saw him as an OF or a corner IF which they already have plenty of prospects at those positions so that would be a knock against Lawrie from the Royals.
  14. Trade #1 is not enough and trade #2 is not going to happen. The Rays are looking to shred payroll not adding payroll the Brewers would have to pay at least half of Fielder's salary and why would the Brewers do that? You have to completely forget about trading Fielder to the Rays it is not going to happen it is like putting up one of those Cubs signs of Its Gonna Happen. You are delusional if you think a deal with the Rays is going to involve Fielder and the Brewers paying some of Fielder's salary. It is just not going to happen. The only way Fielder is involved with a trade with the Rays is if it is a 3-team deal. There is no way the Rays receive Fielder unless the Brewers take on half or more of his contract.
  15. No. Greinke is going nowhere until Lee signs with someone I don't think Melvin wanted to get in a bidding war with the Rangers to land Greinke and that was a wise decision. I really don't see the Brewers trying again to get Greinke unless the Royals call the Brewers and to see if they can get a deal that was proposed again minus Lawrie of course.
  16. The Rays didn't shop anyone. They were just listening to offers for anyone and they have received interest in all of their starting pitchers. The Rays are just getting calls from teams but they are not shopping anyone.
  17. I don't see the Rays trading any of their starting pitching unless they are extremely overtaken by an offer meaning it is going to take a lot to get any of their pitchers. Something along the lines of Cain, Odorizzi, and more to get Garza or Shields or any of the Rays pitchers. I think you are looking at giving up 3 or 4 top 20 prospects before the Rays are motivated to move Garza or Shields. Right now the Rays are just listening and they are really not at a point where they have to trade anyone and it looks as though they do not want to trade anyone unless they get that perfect deal.
  18. ATL doesn't make sense. They already have their 1B of the future in Freeman and he will be their everyday 1B starting in 2011.
  19. Upton would cost somewhere between $4-6m the Rays are in salary dump mode right now and still want to compete so trading Upton for Cain when you get the same production for less would be appealing to them. The amount of money that the Rays would save along with the production of the players changing hands not being all that much this would be something that the Rays would want to do. It is not that the Rays would be giving up on Upton it is just that they would be able to get the same production out of Cain that they would have for Upton at a much more cheaper price and they will have more years of control also.
  20. That makes no sense why would the Brewers have to add something when the Braves are looking to dump Kawakami? I could see something like Gomez and Braddock for Beachy and Kawakami this would be dependent on if the Brewers would be taking on the majority of Kawakami's salary. If not something else would need to be added.
  21. I'm going to guess here and believe the Royals were asking for something like Lawrie, Odorizzi, Jeffress, and another player. That would be something that would be too high and I don't think that would have benefited the Brewers at all way too much to be giving up for 2-years of Greinke. I could see giving up two of those three but if the Royals were asking for all three and then some I don't think it would be worth it to do that.
  22. Why so down? Because Upton will be making around $5-7m this year that is why. Plus Cain is going to cost less for the Rays to play him and get about the same production as they would for Upton who is going to cost them about $5-7m. I believe a Shields and Upton for Cain and McGehee would be a fair trade for both teams. It relieves the Rays of some salary while getting the same amount of production back and then some it also fills some holes that the Rays would have to fill through either free agency or through another trade. The Rays would only have to sign someone like Lee to fill in at 1B or DH depending on where they would put McGehee.
  23. When I first read about this rumor the Braves came straight to my mind. They are in an obvious need of a CF type of a player. The Rays may work but I would have to believe they would want to dump Upton along with Garza on the Brewers along with a better prospect to go along with Cain maybe even Gamel would fit that mold as he could become the teams 1B or DH. I think that would be a rather hefty price for Upton and Garza I am not sure I would do that trade though. Maybe if it was McGehee and Cain for Upton and Garza but that would probably be not enough maybe Shields and Upton would work better.
  24. The Nats are not a small market club. I wish people would stop lumping both the Orioles and the Nationals in the small market group. Neither of these clubs are small market clubs. Both the Nationals and the Orioles offered contracts to Teixeira for close to what the Yankees offered Teixeira. So this shouldn't be a surprise that they gave Werth this the only surprise here is that they spent their money a year earlier. The Nationals probably should have waited until next off season when they could have landed Fielder or Gonzalez.
  25. Trade wise no but I do see both the Orioles and Nationals being big time spenders for Prince on the FA market though in the end I think the Cubs out bid everyone and take Fielder.
