  1. One big reason that I like signing a free agent to be our closer is that it will keep our in house relievers arbitration costs down going forward. I personally don't see any difference between pitching in the 7th, 8th or 9th inning. As long as it's a high leverage situation and they perform whats the problem? I like using your best relievers like the Indians did with Andrew Miller instead of being pidgeon-holed into having him pitch the 9th inning. Corey Knebel and Jacob Barnes will be an important part of this team and might even end up closing games in August and September. They have PLENTY of time to develop into core members of this team going forward. Another bonus is that Neftali Feliz will only be 29 next year. This is a player in his prime of his career and is starting to get healthy again. His upside is tremendous and David Stearns has already proven he can turn water into wine being apart of the Jose Veras for David Paulino trade.
  2. I hope it's true. Hes the reliever I wanted to target the most.
  3. Neftali Feliz is a guy I'd like to take a flyer on. He seems like the kind of guy you could flip easily if his HR% comes down to his normal rate.
  4. I'm hoping it's one of Guzman, Mendez or Jurado but my logic tells me that if any of them was on the table originally then they would've been included right away. I feel it's either one of their injured pitchers (Michael Matuella, Pedro Pavano and Brett Martin), a near ML ready reliever or one of their many middle infield prospects like Andy Ibanez, Josh Morgan, Michael De Leon, Yeyson Yrizarri or Ti'Quan Forbes. I can't see the Brewers looking to add multiple OF'ers in the trade which eliminates Leodys Tavares, Ryan Cordell, Eric Jenkins and Jairo Beras. These guys would have probably been in play had Gallo been the headliner instead of Brinson. Count me in the And That group wih Matuella as my pick and De Leon as a #2.
  5. The Power 50 needs to be brought back. With how deep the system is you can rattle off 60-70 names easily. 1. Orlando Arcia 2. Lewis Brinson 3. Josh Hader 4. Luis Ortiz 5. Phil Bickford 6. Brett Phillips 7. Corey Ray 8. Isan Diaz 9. Trent Clark 10. Marcos Diplan 11. Cody Ponce 12. Lucas Erceg 13. Brandon Woodruff 14. Jorge Lopez 15. Kodi Medeiros 16. Devin Williams 17. Corbin Burnes 18. Jacob Nottingham 19. Freddy Peralta 20. Miguel Diaz 21. Gilbert Lara 22. Monte Hrrison 23. Demi Orimoloye 24. Jake Gatewood 25. Michael Reed 26. Tyrone Taylor 27. Wei Chung-Wang 28. Clint Coulter 29. Nathan Kirby 30. Mario Feliciano 31. Chad McClanahan 32. Braden Webb 33. Zack Brown 34. Trey Supak 35. Adrian Houser 36. Taylor Williams 37. Aaron Wilkerson 38. Kyle Wren 39. Carlos Herrera 40. Daniel Missaki 41. Joantgel Segovia 42. Damien Magnifico 43. Troy Stokes 44. Franly Mallen 45. Angel Ventura 46. Jon Perrin 47. Brent Suter 48. Wendell Rijo 49. Javier Betancourt 50. Zack Clark 51. Manny Pina 52. Garin Cecchini 53. Gabe Garcia 54. Bubba Derby 55. David Burkhalter 56. Rymer Liriano 57. Max McDowell 58. Thomas Jankins 59. Jordan Yamamoto 60. Jonathan Oquendo
  6. With his control you should be able to get a couple 50 grade prospects and a lottery ticket or two. I'm probably selling him short TBH.
  7. Great stuff wildcat! Always love your contibutions to the board!
  8. I don't think you can compare what we got from the Indians to what we might get from the Rangers. Any deal with them would include a 2nd or even 3rd player going their way and with all the years of control we could be giving up it gets complicated. I'm thinking the deal starts with either Gallo + Tavares or Brinson + Guzman then add in Jurado and one of Ortiz, Mendez or Tate. The deal would still need more pieces after that like a couple relievers. Maybe Martin and LeClerc to round it off? If we dealt that many guys from our major league roster we would have to have a coule who could fill in immediately.
  9. Everybody is looking for bullpen help - Boston, Texas, Dodgers, Mets, Giants, Astros, - if you didn't get Chapman, Miller, or Melanin - you're still in the fight. Watch the Dodgers - they have SP depth to deal from. Just for example, check the stats on players 18-22 - that's what I'm looking for, a team just like that. http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2016?list=la Nice call on the Dodgers. It's easy to see the teams coming to a agreement on a package of those type of prospects.
  10. I'd part with a Coulter or Reed type but I wouldn't give up much more than that. He's got a ton of bounceback potential with playing at MP.
  11. I agree it's been very disrespectful. This wouldn't be the first time I've seen a random poster with "insider information". Hopefully he's right and the only hang up is Lucroy's NTC.
  12. Francisco Mejia, Triston McKenzie and another lottery ticket or two would do it for me. Give me the two highest ceiling talents in their system.
  13. Devers and Kopech for Lucroy was tossed around a while ago and I'd still love to get that in return.
  14. Bauer is not very good, and anyways would not help us very much given his remaining years of team control. Pretty sure, he's 100% better than any current Brewer pitcher...and there's this thing called a contract extension. Pretty sure that's legal. You guys worry way too much about "team control" you can control a player as long as you want...if you resign him. The bigger issue is that a team isn't going to deal away from their major league roster when they're in a pennant race. Teams want to shore up their holes not patch one by creating another.
  15. I'd take a Daniel Norris, Beau Burrows and Christin Stewart package for Lucroy. Norris is getting hit around pretty hard in AAA and Burrows can't miss any bats in A ball. So getting a solid 3rd piece like Stewart should be a reasonable request in this situation.
  16. The mystery team has to be the Braves.
  17. I heard Erick Fedde and Koda Glover mentioned with Aroldis Chapman. I'd love that kind of return for Jeffress.
  18. The Brewers could get creative with a trade involving the Mets and the Indians but the Indians would have to want TDA to make it work. Just spitballing an idea: Brewers send Lucroy & Jeffress to the Mets for TDA, Rosario and Smith. Brewers then send TDA and Smith to the Indians for Mejia, Sheffield and McKenzie.
  19. I'm glad that nightmare can be put to rest.
  20. Jeffress or Thornburg for Dominic Smith + is something I could see happening if Sandy Alderson didn't suffer from dementia. And sign me and Michael Peterson up for that guy. We could use another Brit in this system.
  21. This kind of offer is really just kind of insulting. I mean, I guess it can't hurt to try, but seriously, if the Mets take the time to set up a phone call with Stearns, and make this offer, you wonder what Stearns reaction is. You can imagine him just saying, "Don't waste my time with crap like this." But of course, that would be rude and he probably just said 'no thanks." In the Mets defense, maybe they said something like, "We'd like Lucroy, we can build around d'Arnaud. Would you be interested?" But if they called and said, "We'll give you d'Arnaud for Lucroy straight up." You almost wish Stearns would just hang up. It's kind of like in fantasy baseball - there's always some clown who is offering wildly lopsided trades all the time, and you just want to block all his notifications. The only deal I'd consider with the Mets is for one of our relievers. Something like Jeffress or Thornburg for Smith and maybe another piece or two would be great but they can't even get a converstation started for Lucroy. I will say that Rosario is very interesting. He is killing AA pitching as a 20 year old.
  22. A reliever is much more likely but I'm hoping it's not a coincidence that those teams aren't on Brauns no trade list. Thanks for the info.
  23. I made sure to say supposedly because the person who posted the rumor said the deal could be announced today. Bruce Levine also said the Indians have the best names on the table and that a deal could be announced soon. I'm hoping for our sake that it's not true. I want those prospects for Lucroy and Smith
  24. They're stupid if they do. Stupid doesn't begin to describe the Indians. Supposedly they're about to give up Bradley, one of Zimmer / Frazier and one of Sheffield / McKenzie for 2 months of Aroldis Chapman
  25. Is a Jeffress for Adalberto Mejia and Chris Shaw swap out of the question? That's 2 lower ranked top 100 prospects for 3 1/2 years of Jeffress. I also noticed the Giants highest ranked OF prospect is 17th in their system. The Brewers could easily add someone like Tyrone Taylor, Clint Coulter or Michael Reed to even the deal out or to bring another interesting piece in return. Chris Shaw has been on a horrible slump of late but I still think very highly of his bat. If you could get Shaw in return from the Giants then you could focus on pitching and Francisco Mejia from the Indians.
