  1. How does sentence one lead to sentence two? They've given Gallo 1 plate appearance this year, so they haven't had a need for him. If anything, them doing well without his services demonstrates he's a disposable piece (this year) and should make him available in a trade for a guy like Lucroy. I think it just depends on how much the Rangers want to upgrade/solidify their team and go for it this year. We have pieces to significantly bolster their already well put together team at catcher (Lucroy), rotation (Nelson/Guerra/Garza), bullpen (Jeffress/Smith), and/or bench (Hill/Carter) and they have a lot of enticing prospects we'd love to take off their hands in return. I don't think any other team can improve their roster to the extent the Brewers can, so if they're willing to deal some of their big prospects, we're in a position to make a deal happen. From what I understand the Rangers refuse to part with Gallo because they see him as the future 1B with Moreland's contract ending after this season. They probably should be playing Gallo right now over him TBH. That might be a bigger improvement than Lucroy would be over their hodgepodge of catchers.
  2. I found a reasonable proposal from a Boston fan. https://www.boston.com/sports/boston-red-sox/2016/06/28/starting-pitching-problem-red-sox-also-need-bat-like-jonathan-lucroy I'd be hard pressed to say no if the two flier types were guys like Roniel Raudes and Josh Okimey.
  3. I would have no problem packaging Jimmy Nelson along with Lucroy to bring back a major haul. But then again, I have never thought Jimmy Nelson was much more than Bud Norris type.
  4. Redsox send 3B Rafael Devers, RHP Michael Kopech and 1B Josh Okimey Redsox receive RHP Zack Wheeler and LHP Will Smith Mets send Zack Wheeler, Amed Rosario, RHP Marcos Molina and LHP Max Wotell Mets receive C Jon Lucroy and IF Aaron Hill Brewers send C Jon Lucroy, IF Aaron Hill and LHP Will Smith Brewers receive 3B Rafael Devers, RHP Michael Kopech, SS Amed Rosario, RHP Marcos Molina, LHP Max Wotell and 1B Josh Okimey
  5. I think Lucroy ends up on the Mets but they need a 3rd team involved to make the trade happen. Brewers send Aaron Hill and Jon Lucroy to the Mets Brewers send a reliever to Team TBD Mets send Zack Wheeler to Team TBD Mets send prospects to Brewers Team TBD sends prospects to the Brewers. It would be nice if that team was Boston. I know the starting pitching market looks bleak at the moment so the Brewers could get a nice haul. Maybe Devers and Kopech + prospects from the Mets?
  6. Payton Henry reportedly signed for $550,000. http://www.sltrib.com/sports/4009956-155/prep-baseball-pleasant-groves-payton-henry
  7. I agree with the others who have said any trade would have to start with Chris Shaw and Phil Bickford. However, I'm greedy so I would eat as much of Braun's contract to bring back some more pieces. With the way he's producing and the lack of impact bats on the market, It's not unreasonable to ask for either Christian Arroyo or Tyler Beede in addition to Shaw and Bickford. I'm also not against adding a reliever to make this a blockbuster deal. There's a couple guys like Michael Santos and Rodolfo Martinez that I would like to have in our system.
  8. I agree, you're not gonna get Robles unless Braun or Lucroy are headed to Washington. They would probably try to make a deal around Reynaldo Lopez or Erick Fedde as the headliner. Something like this would be pretty fair for both sides. RHP Reynaldo Lopez or RHP Erick Fedde 3B Drew Ward RHP Koda Glover for LHP Will Smith
  9. JJ Cooper ‏@jjcoop36 7m7 minutes ago If Brewers can sign Zach Clark (Ala. signee) that's the pick of the 19th round. Plus power and plus speed.
  10. Corbin Burnes stood out to me when I was checking out all the prospects on MLB.com. For the people who follow prospects closely, how does he compare to Cody Ponce? Their profiles looked sort of similar to me.
  11. At this point I'm hoping they go for some high upside HS kids. I don't know what our bonus pool is looking like but there's a lot of talented kids still available. Stearns made a killing in the 3rd through 6th round while at Houston and I'm hoping he does the same here. Some guys I'm very interested in are 1B/LHP Walker Robbins, RHP Skylar Szynski, RHP Nick Hansen, RHP Ray Gaither and LHP Adam Laskey. Erik Miller looks really intriguing as a 6'5 LHP with a 3 pitch mix but he's probably unsignable with his commitment to Stanford.
  12. Erceg kind of reminds me of J.D. Davis which makes sense knowing where Stearns came from. Very similar profile as power hitting 3rd basemen who also pitched (think they both closed) at their respective universities. Being a LH bat at 3rd just makes it even more sweeter.
  13. I'm thinking Nolan Jones or Alex Speas for our upcoming pick.
  14. I wonder what kind of deal the Brewers get done with Corey Ray? I'd like the pick a lot more if we saved some cash for our upcoming picks.
  15. I'd parade around the ghost of Prince Fielder if it meant we were getting Dillon Tate and Joey Gallo in return. That is seriously a dream scenario.
  16. I'm pretty sure we wait until tomorrow so the votes for pick #1 will be in. At that point the player taken #1 overall is obviously off the board and another player must be chosen.
  17. I don't think the dislike for Corey Ray has anything to do with his talent as a ball player. It all has to do with the him being yet another outfielder in a system that is full of them. People see Domingo Santana, Brett Phillips, Trent Clark, Monte Harrison, Demi Orimoloye etc and think the position is already in good hands going forward. That said you never draft for need in the baseball draft and if he's the BPA then that's who you go with.
  18. Hes our version of a Hockey goon. When you're facing someone like Travis Snider and they start acting up that's when you're happy you have someone like Martin Maldonado around. He's got the strongest right arm (or right hook) in the game.
  19. What about Hader, Phillips, Taylor, Davies & Reed then? They all appear set to repeat levels this season too. I don't want to derail the thread but have those players had to repeat a level on multiple occasions? It's been 4 years and Coulters moved up 2 levels.
  20. Please remove Clint Coulter from my list and bump everyone up a notch. A prospect who repeats a level twice is a non prospect in my book.
  21. 1. Orlando Arcia 2. Jorge Lopez 3. Brett Phillips 4. Jake Nottingham 5. Josh Hader 6. Isan Diaz 7. Trent Clark 8. Cody Ponce 9. Kodi Medeiros 10. Devin Williams 11. Gilbert Lara 12. Demi Orimoloye 13. Monte Harrison 14. Marcos Diplan 15. Clint Coulter 16. Zach Davies 17. Adrian Houser 18. Michael Reed 19. Jake Gatewood 20. Freddy Peralta 21. Bubba Derby 22. Tyrone Taylor 23. Miguel Diaz 24. Nate Kirby 25. Taylor Williams 26. Carlos Herrera 27. Tre Supak 28. Keon Broxton 29. Rymer Liriano 30. Garin Cecchini
  22. If he was the center piece talks fell apart in a few seconds. Joe Musgrove was ranked 36th on Sickels top 175 prospect list. He would make for a fine centerpiece IMO.
