  1. What's funny is that he called his parents to ask what to do....I don't think I would have made that call, not after the age of 17 or so. Hello? Mom & Dad? I just jumped through a plate glass window, on the way into the hot tub, with my new "friend", and I'm bleeding profusely. What should I do?
  2. Louis -- before you spent the $3 / month to upgrade for improved Internet connectivity, did you experience a lot of disconnects? I do, and it's really irritating. I do have a wireless router. Thanks!
  3. I have Sirius, and generally, I love it - when it works. It comes in great in the car, now that I have a modulator. Without the modulator, if you're driving in the city, the station you have Sirius tuned to may conflict with another local station, and it will fade in & out. If you're in the country, it always comes in great. I also bought the boom box accessory, which works well if it's set up in a wide open space. If it's under anything (umbrella, overhang, etc.) it doesn't come in well at all. Also, I listen on my PC. It seems, though, that if I have another browser open, it conflicts with Sirius, and it cuts out pretty often. In spite of those problems, it is well worth $11 / month, no doubt about it.
  4. Didn't Lance Painter play for UW? Didn't notice that name mentioned yet. He might still be in the area, former Brewer, and from Milwaukee, I believe.
  5. If you ever get to So. Cal, try Firestone Double Barrel Amber Ale, and Great White by Lost Coast Brewery. Two amazing beers, best I know of.
  6. I live in The OC. Moving out here would probably be a fun adventure for a young person like yourself, if your buddies have a place for you to crash. You will be able to find a job of some sort, depending on what you want to do. However, be forewarned about the cost of living out here - almost everything is significantly higher than back in Wisc., and it's damn crowded. I'm strictly out here for the weather, and if my wife would agree to, I'd strongly consider a move back to the homeland. All in all, if I were in your shoes, I'd probably give it a shot. Nothing to lose!
  7. I live in The OC, home of the Angels, and pretty much agree with RayKingsFormanGrill. Anaheim Stadium is much better than Dodger Stadium, and you avoid the Raider-like atmosphere created by Dodger fans. Prices are also way out of hand at Dodger Stadium. In addition to the $6 dogs, I think a decent beer was in excess of $10, and your garden variety Lite beer was around $8 or $9. I would advise spending a day at Disney, then heading over to an Angels game - assuming the Angels are in town when you're here. If you do so, order some tickets in advance. The place is packed most nights. Traffic is no picnic in the Anaheim area, but it's like a country highway compared to the area around Chavez Ravine. It is something that cannot be described adequately, you just have to experience it for yourself to truly appreciate how horrible it is. Either way, don't plan on doing any tailgating, not if you want to drink some brewski's. Alcohol is prohibited in the parking lots. This point was driven home in no uncertain terms by the LA sheriff's dept deputies, when we went to see the Brewers play in LA recently.
  8. It's naive to worry about loyalty to any company. Trust me, rarely will the company won't be loyal to you. Ask the millions out there - myself included - who have been downsized w/o any warning whatsoever. If you have an offer to better yourself, and the potential employer wants you and has no qualms about your "job hopping", I say go for it. He who hesitates is lost.
  9. I once had roast beef and jumbo shrimp, served on china with silverwear, on a Midwest flight to Denver. Plus, champagne and the cookies. Now THAT was what really differentiated Midwest from the rest of the pack. After 9/11, Midwest cut back, and - except for the 2 across seating - they weren't all that much different than the others. I was ecstatic when they created a MKE - Orange County, CA (where I live) route. But it failed miserably, due to the 3 hour layover in KC. Ever spent any time in the KC airport? It might be the worst around (though it may have been renovated in the past 2 or 3 years, and if so, I apologize). Regardless of what happens, it's sad to see yet another major company that Milwaukee can no longer claim as its own. To think of what's happened in that regard in the past 40 years, it's incredible.
  10. Anyone see the lineups for today's game yet?
  11. I'm ecstatic that I chose Jenks in my fantasy league. Not sure what I was thinking there.
  12. Fish -- you'll be like I was in San Diego - the only Brewer fan in the stands. So YELL loudly! I turned a lot of heads when the Brew jumped out to an early lead.
  13. Sorry people, but they've officially lost me. I've been through too much with this team. They simply cannot do anything right. That said, they'll probably rally in the bottom of the 10th. Still, I'm outta here.
  14. I believe a previous posted mentioned this, but Charlie Steiner of FSN in So. Cal just called Magruder "Chad" for about the 10th time. Think someone would point that out to him??
  15. This is going to be one of the most frustrating of all frustrating seasons to be a Brewer fan. My expectations were obviously way too high. And I've been through plenty following them since 1970. For the past week they get good pitching and no run support. Today they put some runs on the board and the pitching falls apart. CRIPES!
  16. Hardy may be the man one day, but he should be in AAA right now. Terrible bunt attempt, then he overruns Cirillo. He's simply not ready mentally to play in the bigs. Me says the Brew will be lucky to hang onto this one.
  17. I'll bet if you tried to move from your rain soaked area to a dry one, some gestapo-esque usher would have tried to stop you. It doesn't get any better than watching the Brewers get stomped, while being drenched inside an enclosed stadium. Betcha want that night back, dontcha?
  18. Shampoo - I think your senses are lathered up. Why didn't Bennett's 4 hits count tonight? The score was 8-4, not 20-4. Don't rip a guy when he gets 4 hits.
  19. I was at the game, and the only thing more depressing than either the bullpen meltdown or Spivey's DP, was the fact that in the whole crowd, I saw only one other guy with so much as a Brewer cap on. In my bones, I really felt like they were going to get to K-Rod, but he got away. The $6.25 MGD Lights didn't settle too well in my gut after this debacle was over.
  20. Endaround: The Angels were missing 6 of their regular starters tonight, 5 of them being disabled. Most of those guys will be back and the Angels will contend for the title. The Brewers, on the other hand, are just plain lousy hitters. They have no clue what to do at the dish at this point in time. They take when they should hack, and vice-versa.
  21. A sack of In & Out hamburgers has more potency than all of the Brewer hitters combined.
  22. Kudo's to Ben on an amazing performance. Other than that, the only good thing about the game is that the Angels T.V. network let us listen to Uecker for 1/2 inning, which was awesome. The Crew needs to completely scrap whatever philosophy they're employing offensively. If that means canning Wynegar, so be it. They take a lot of pitches they should be swinging at. As a result, they put themselves in so many holes that they end up whiffing at crappy pitches they have no biz even considering. If these guys are going to be singles & doubles hitters, the least they can do is put the bat on the ball! WOW -- Grieve, Jenks, Moeller, Counsell - those guys are nearly automatic outs. They have no clue what they're doing up there. What's wrong with being aggressive? If the first pitch is right down the pipe, swing at it!!!! 2nd & 3rd, no outs, it's inexcusable not to score even ONE RUN!! I'm going to the game on Thursday but I can't say I'm excited about it anymore. How many times in one season can a team manage only 4 hits?
  23. The "D" in Podsednik is silent? Well shut my mouth, my apologies to Mr. Scully. Not sure how I could have missed that. Regarding Ben's performance last night, my feeling is that he deserved better. The two 1st inning walks not withstanding, LoDuca's single was a seeing eye dribbler that Counsell should have gotten to. Counsell also missed a looping liner from Roberts, I believe. He might have the worst range to his right of any SS in the game. Grieve looked like he was approaching a live grenade on Roberts' "triple", and Bennett should have blocked the WP that allowed Roberts to score. That was really a tough game to watch.
  24. Johnny Briggs - I laughed at your comments about Vin Scully. I too watched the game on Fox Net out of L.A. Another thing that irritates me is how he calls Scotty Podsednik "PO-sednik". Someone tell him there's a D in the man's name. At least I don't have to listen to him butcher Mark "GRAD-zelanic" anymore. Did you see the game on Memorial Day? Nice that they dedicated the game to our troops and those that have served in the past, but it was still over the top and got annoying after about 3 innings.
  25. Can anyone tell me why Sheets wouldn't be bunting? I would think there's less chance of hitting into a double play by bunting, than by swinging away. If you're successful, you've got 2nd & 3rd and the top of the order. And Sheets fell down again out of the batters box.
