  1. Plus the sample size is much lower in the NFL (256 games per year) vs 1,230 (NBA) and 2,430 (MLB). I still think analytics in football are useful, but they have limitations.
  2. I’ll take road wins all day long, but that sure had the feel of a 2019 Packer win.
  3. Don’t underestimate the impact of winning the coin toss. It’s the equivalent of a Packers’ turnover today.
  4. Meh, I’m not going to complain about 22-10 at half.
  5. 3 red zone trips, 6 points. SMH.
  6. I’ll never pick the Packers to win in Minnesota, but I think we’re in for a good game. My heart says 27-20 Packers, but my head says 27-20 Vikings. Either way, I’m glad to have football back. Go Pack Go!
  7. Mild suprise there, but with Turner hurt, that lineup probably puts their best remaining 5 OL on the field.
  8. EQ a healthy scratch? I guess Malik Taylor is expected to be a good special teamer.
  9. I think it gives teams a few more options for setting the game day roster in case a particular position group is impacted by injuries or COVID.
  10. It’s nuts to think the Patriots signed Cam Newton for $1 million, while the Bears had to give up a 4th round pick for Nick Foles and guarantee him $21 million.
  11. I’m fairly optimistic. In a year with extra uncertainty, I think the Packers will benefit from a lot of year-over-year continuity. Getting out of the NFC will be a challenge, but 10-6 with a playoff appearance feels like a realistic expectation. Just for fun, here are some quick hitters: 1) Aaron Rodgers throws 26 TDs / 8 INTs, Passer Rating = 98.0 2) The entire NFC North will finish between 6-10 and 10-6 3) Breakout Player (Offense): Allen Lazard 4) Breakout Player (Defense): Chandon Sullivan 5) Biggest Disappointment (Offense): Billy Turner 6) Biggest Disappointment (Defense): Rashan Gary* 7) Adrian Peterson rushes for 100 yards vs the Packers at least once 8) Jon Runyon Jr. is serviceable in at least 2 spot starts * I’ve already written off Oren Burks
  12. I agree, Skip Bayless is very good at what he does -- he's very close to being Stephen Colbert from the Colbert Report. Which would actually be a great character for a sports-related show. Except that everyone who watched the Colbert Report was in on the joke. [sarcasm]What joke?[/sarcasm]
  13. I’m 100% behind Dak, but Skip is still entitled to an opinion. I watched the clip expecting to be outraged, but Skip appeared pretty measured. Honestly, the dialogue between Skip and Shannon seemed healthy by daytime cable standards. Fox issued a statement afterwards affirming their support for mental health issues. I think this is a non-issue.
  14. The logical answer to this question is that it is really, really hard to win a championship in pro sports leagues with 30+ teams, especially in ones where the field is often tilted in favor of large markets.
  15. I’m not sold on the overall talent level, but I think they’ll benefit from the year-over-year continuity and still contend for the division. Probable Wins: vs Lions (2) vs Falcons (4) vs Vikings (8) vs Jaguars (10) vs Bears (12) @ Lions (14) vs Panthers (15) vs Titans (16) @ Bears (17) Probable Losses: @ Vikings (1) @ Saints (3) @ Buccaneers (6) @ Texans (7) @ 49ers (9) Toss-Ups: (assume they split) @ Colts (11) vs Eagles (13) 10-6 Overall

  17. I think Clay has offset language in his Rams contract, meaning money he earns in 2020 from another team would reduce the amount the Rams still owe him. It’s hard to see him risking his health for the vet minimum if he has nothing to gain in the monetary sense. Maybe he’d consider joining a playoff team in November or December as a pass rush specialist?

  19. https://www.dailynorseman.com/2020/9/6/21422154/vikings-2020-21-season-predictions Neat article showing the projected starting lineup for each NFC North team along with each player’s PFF score from 2019. Indicates the division race will be tight again.

  23. It’s weird seeing vets like Josh McCown (Eagles) and Matt Moore (Chiefs) on NFL practice squads.
