  1. During the 2009-2010 season, NBC aired The Office, 30 Rock, Parks & Rec, and Community on the same night. That was my last ‘appointment TV.’ There have been a few good network sitcoms since then, but rarely are they paired on the same network/night. Plus, DVR has rendered appointment viewing obsolete.
  2. Unfortunately, it was recently cancelled after 2 seasons. I didn’t think it was a good as The Goldbergs, but I appreciated the nostalgia.
  3. Overqualified = Flight Risk
  4. Here is a neat article from CBS Sports that lists the best player drafted in every draft slot 1-256. The Packers are disproportionately represented, which speaks to the drafting prowess of Ron Wolf and Ted Thompson. The author went with Ed Reed at #24 instead of Aaron Rodgers. Perhaps he felt the need to be contrarian? Good offseason fodder, nonetheless. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/news/ultimate-nfl-draft-the-best-pick-for-all-256-slots-over-the-last-50-years-from-peyton-manning-to/
  5. People who don’t sweep up grass clippings from the curb after they’re done mowing their lawns. This is especially problematic with riding mowers. It looks bad, it smells bad, and it can plug up our sewer drains.
  6. According to this article, Lenny Dykstra’s reputation is so bad, it’d be virtually impossible for him to successfully sue you for libel. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/judge-len-dykstra-reputation-bad-131243871.html
  7. If you have to wear a mask to go on vacation, you probably shouldn’t be going on vacation.
  8. I own a 1700 sq foot home that was custom built for a retired couple in 2001. My wife and I bought it in 2015. It has plenty of space for our family of 3. We could comfortably add a 4th. However, my wife and I have discussed framing up a pair of offices in our unfinished basement (and maybe a bathroom) if we both WFH permanently.
  9. Will houses get bigger if one or both spouses work from home?
  10. I attended two mid-major colleges and I’d be thrilled if they dropped everything but their revenue sports. Unfortunately, the NCAA requires all Division I schools to field at least 7 teams per gender with a minimum of 2 team sports per gender. Additionally, there are minimum financial aid awards that must be met outside of the team requirements. Most mid-major schools operate close to the minimum in both teams and scholarships anyway. There isn’t a lot of room left to cut unless the NCAA relaxes their requirements.
  11. High school GPA’s > 4.0 I saw an article today that listed a valedictorian with a 5.6 GPA. What does that even mean? I know it’s common in some districts to weight AP or advanced classes with a 5 for an A (and a 4 for a B), but how does one get more than 5 points per class?
  12. I see this as by far the most likely outcome, but it won’t stop the networks and other teams’ entitled fans from speculating.
  13. I just ordered a pair of shorts online. I’ve purchased clothes online before, but have generally shied away from pants and shoes unless I was just buying another pair of something I already owned. I hate returning things.
  14. If you could only buy one, what stock would you feel better about long term - Walmart or Target? Why?
  15. I’m not a huge NBA guy, but if Giannis plays out his current contract without signing a super max extension, can’t the Bucks still organize a sign and trade to Giannis’ preferred team so that he gets maximum compensation? Didn’t the Warriors technically ‘trade’ Kevin Durant for DeAngelo Russell and a first round pick? If so, I don’t think there is a realistic trade scenario that has Giannis leaving the Bucks with one year remaining on his contract.
  16. What does this do for Tim Tebow’s chances of playing in a MLB game?
  17. Has there ever been a more notable quarterback room than the 1996 Green Bay Packers? QB1 - Favre ... Top 10 All-Time QB QB2 - McMahon ... QB of the ‘85 Bears QB3 - Pederson ... SB-Winning Head Coach
  18. Pretty sure I read somewhere that his oldest daughter is a lawyer now, so she's probably doing ok. He's also not really the type to be waited on hand and foot. That said, he has quite a bit of extended family in and around Hattiesburg that he me be helping. His oldest daughter had a child when she was in her late teens or early twenties. Then she completed college / law school. That’s great for her, but 99% of the population couldn’t do that. I’m sure she was on the family payroll the entire time. Just one example. It adds up.
  19. I don’t mean to be combative, but as an outsider, it’s my perception that there are a lot of six figure jobs on campus that have little to do with teaching or research and that the number of these jobs has grown significantly over the last 30 years (along with tuition). Am I misguided?
  20. The value of liberal arts degrees tends to rise and fall with the business cycle. When the economy is doing well, employers are more likely to seek out critical thinking, diverse backgrounds, etc. (as most organizations with a growth mindset should do); however, when the job market tightens, candidates are more likely to hear ‘yeah, we really need someone who knows X, Y, and Z.’
  21. Didn’t Favre also get duped into making a Cameo video for a white supremacist group? I think poor management is the more likely cause of these media black eyes.
  22. JBS announced they are going to re-open in Brown County. Maybe they should let some of the hundreds of small businesses that aren’t total clusters open first? I guess they closed voluntarily and are re-opening voluntarily, but something about that just doesn’t seem fair.
  23. True, but are those businesses willing to pay an above market rate for endorsements just so their alma mater can benefit? I honestly don’t know, but I think it’s more likely to happen in the football-rabid South.
  24. How many car dealership commercials in Tuscaloosa will now feature the entire Crimson Tide football team? For the record, I think college athletes have the right to profit from their likeness. Just be prepared to see some wild disparity.
