  1. Can't remember Z throwing 6 straight strikes ever. Nice 8 pitch inning. Not a good sign. If he's on, he's tough. He's just so rarely on.
  2. I've said it before, I'll say it again: Barmes makes a ton of sense. No injury concerns, no fielding concerns, no age concerns. Hits lefties really well and has some decent pop. He even has some playoff experience, which we don't have a ton of on this team (save the 4 games in 2008). I think he is arby eligible next year, but I could be wrong. The 'Stros are an absolute mess. This makes tons of sense. I'd assume that the cost would be a 10-20 on the Power 50 player rater. I wouldn't be surprised if this happened this week, it just seems like the safest good move.
  3. Clint Barmes will be in uniform for first game of the Cubs series.
  4. Argh...another brutal inning. Rickie hit that hard, but not his day. I think Bum had 5 pitches that inning...
  5. Miss a pop up and can't get a runner in from 3rd with 1 out. I'd bench Wilson now, but I supposed I wouldn't be much of a player's managar if I did...
  6. Great catch. He hit the ball hard in his first AB too. I like the call-up because RR will keep playing it like he was with GoGo and that seems to be perfect. Man, I wish Yo would be more efficient.
  7. If Keppinger weren't in this lineup, I think 1 run wouldve been enough.
  8. This seems to be the type of lineup where Yo gets his mojo going. I'm expecting a 3-0 win with some big hits from Braun and Carrol.
  9. As a counter point, this Giants offense is pretty brutal. The only position where I'd take their hitter over ours would be 3rd base...yes, I said it, I'd rather have Yuni than Crawford.
  10. Which is why I think Barmes is the best option. Would be better if he were a lefty, but he has a great glove.
  11. I will be stunned if we score more than 2 runs today. Zack better bring it or else we have no shot.
  12. Narv Dog at 60 pitches through 5. That is unheard of for a Brewers pitcher except for the April version of Marcum
  13. Anyone have any sense of how We will come out tonight? Seems like Saunders could baffle us, but I feel like Narvy is due for a solid start....
  14. I expect fur cal if healthy. If he isnt healthy, I expect something like Barmes or Scutaro
  15. Get on board everyone, we are about to start on a 6+ game win streak.
  16. Remember when this team used to hit home runs? Our lineup is limp.
  17. To follow-up on fondy, I think DM also recognized that Hawk/Saito/Loe all benefit from rest. Saito has only a few back-to-back appearances and Hawk loses significant velocity. Part of that is that they haven't built up strength yet, but part is that they are in the twilight of their careers. This also means that we won't have to see Sean Green again
  18. I did not see this coming. It was easy to predict that the K-Rod deal at the outset was a team overspending for a reliever. We're getting to cherry pick here and I am impressed. The only worry is that this probably wouldn't have been done if they were confident in Saito's health. I think they are betting either Hawk or Saito is probably going to breakdown, so depth is huge. He's not the model citzen, but it is only three months...
  19. Just saw the Moneyball preview for the first time. Cannot wait to see how they did it.
  20. Hardy expects to sign an extension this week, so let's take that name off the list. Not much out there... Has anyone kicked around Omar Infante? Florida isn't going anywhere near the playoffs and he can play anywhere in the infield. I know he's primarily a 2nd baseman this year, but he is the sort of contact/patient hitter that we're missing. He's essentially a younger version of Counsell
  21. I agree completely that it will come down to Cincy. They have a great lineup, great pen and an abover average rotation. Their defense is also above average. Maybe I overestimate them, but this was a 91 win team last year and all signs point to them being better this year with a year of experience. Granted, their rotation seems to have taken a step back, but I never feel comfortable when they are at bat. Honestly, their biggest faults are 1. manager and 2. closer. I'm not too worried about the Pirates and I think the Cards are largely smoke and mirrors, but I really think this weekend's series was HUGE for the simple fact that it pushes the Reds back.
