There's no doubt Melvin could get 2 or 3 guys to make the team better. Especially the guys you just listed. Will it happen though? The answer to that is no. And the reason is like I said before. Melvin seems to think McGehee and Yuni are good players, who will "turn it around" and there is no way Counsell gets let go. That leaves one spot in the IF. I could see an OF be added though to replace Carroll, but that seems unlikely as well. I hope he finds a LH reliever though too.
I can't see Doug trading for both Carroll and Barmes, although he should. Why? Because who would he cut beyond Wilson. Yes, Counsell or Yuni should get dropped, or McGehee demoted, but we all know none of those things would happen.
Danny Knobler just tweeted this. Sounds like Barmes is a good possibility. Brewers checked in on Beltran, Crisp, Jerry Hairston Jr., Carroll, others, but most likely acquisition could be Barmes of HOU
Good news for all the people on the Barmes bandwagon. Via Danny Knobler's twitter. Brewers checked in on Beltran, Crisp, Jerry Hairston Jr., Carroll, others, but most likely acquisition could be Barmes of HOU
It will definitely be an underwhelming move to get Carroll, but he'd still help the team at SS and 3B. He's good defensively and gets on base at a good clip. Better than both Yuni and McGehee in both of those areas. I'd rather see Melvin get someone else, but if he lands Carroll and a LHP for the pen I'll be satisfied. At least he'd be improving the team instead of doing nothing.
I was hoping Furcal would come back from his injury and start hitting, but he hasn't. That along with his injury risk probably does make Carroll a better option. At least you know what you're getting in Carroll at this time. Furcal is a big question mark.
He'll stay in, don't worry. Remember that hot streak he's on? Lol. I'm sure in Roenicke's mind he'll be saving Morgan to hit for Carroll. Even though it may not get there. I'd pinch-hit Morgan for Yuni, and then Kotsay for Carroll. Use Kottaras in the pitcher's spot.
I like how Rock keeps saying keeping Bumgarner in is a risky move when we've failed to do anything against him today. And Wilson is at the plate on top of that. And he also added that a long ball gives us the lead. Yeah maybe with Braun up, not Wilson.
