  1. Good point, but unfortunately Roenicke would never think of that. This is also why we need Braun healthy.
  2. Crap. Too bad the bases weren't loaded when he hit that double earlier.
  3. Alright, Kottaras got him over. But can McGehee actually drive him in?
  4. Bill just said it's supposed to be in the upper 90's in Denver today, maybe that's why. Yeah, if I was the SP I would go with gray in that heat.
  5. I agree. Braun shouldn't be playing if he can't make it through a full game feeling good.
  6. I'd flip Fielder and Weeks and McGehee and Wilson.
  7. If he came at the right price I'd take him. Based on his numbers in the AL, he would look really good in the NL right now. He'd be an upgrade over Narvy, and it would allow us to use Narvy as a lefty in the pen.
  8. One month. Way to random to have any meaning whatsoever other than trivia. Not a month, barely more than a week for an everyday player. Carlos Gomez's wOBA is .303, Kotsay's is .295. Neither are good offensively, but Kotsay is one of the worst defending outfielders in the league while Gomez is one of the best. Gomez is also hitting .300/.300/.900/1.200 this month. I guess he's "hot" as well, no? Kotsay has 33 AB's, Gomez has 10 AB's this month. Gomez has 3 hits, 2 of which were on July 1 against Liriano. Kotsay has been hitting well as of late, so I really can't complain about him being in the lineup.
  9. Yeah, I don't see a reason why he won't continue to hit well this year. He'd definitely be better than McGehee, that's for sure.
  10. I suppose that is a point. I never claimed Kotsay was very good defensively. I get your argument that Gomez is much superior on D, but Kotsay is about the only decent option to bat 3rd today with Braun out and how Roenicke has re-structured the lineup.Agreed. Kotsay's line is .364/.371/.606 this month, so he actually has been ok (lately) no matter what anyone says. I don't really have a problem with him playing today. Gomez is just awful at the plate, and Roenicke we need the offense to keep it going today. I don't like the 3 lefties in a row, but there's really no other option if Roenicke insists on sticking with Hart 1 and Weeks 5.
  11. Except that McGehee isn't good this year, and Betemit is. We need someone who is good right now. He'd be an upgrade offensively, so I'd take it. It's not like he's a long-term solution, or that he'd cost much to get.
  12. Really what better lineup could they put out there today? Braun obviously can't play. If they wanna keep Weeks in the 5 spot, who will hit third? I guess they could do Morgan leadoff, Hart 3rd. But then who hits second? Those were gonna be the top 3 no matter what. Kottaras, McGehee, and Wilson aren't top 3 hitters obviously. At least Kotsay has a good OBP, so I don't mind him up there. I'd still have Morgan leadoff and Hart second normally, and in this situation I'd go Morgan, Kotsay, Hart, but oh well not much different.
  13. I agree with this. I think you gotta go with the proven commodity when in a pennant race, rather than throw Green into the fire. He's a great option for next year, but I just don't see him getting the call as everyday 3B this year.
  14. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/125702683.html Good news I guess?
  15. I would do it just to play it safe. I would've put him on the DL the first time around. He still would've been eligible by Monday, which in hindsight would look a lot better. We'll see I guess.
  16. This is why they should've just sat him longer, instead of putting him out there at clearly a lot less than 100%.
  17. Sure would be nice to have a left-handed bat with that kind of pop on our bench right about now, no? I agree, let's trade for him.
  18. Not sure why Rickie protecting Prince and getting more RBI opportunities is a bad thing.
  19. Well, if he plays both that's fine too. If Doug can't get any else, at least he could flip between both positions to replace Yuni and McGehee.
