  1. You do realize this means that there is no back up plan if Carlos Gomez continues being Carlos Gomez? Yep, exactly why I cringed when I saw who we gave up in this trade. Reed and Boggs can both play CF, but not as good as Dickerson. It scares me a little bit for sure. I just hope Gomez steps it up, so we don't have to worry. As long as he doesn't suck badly we should be fine.
  2. I'd say he's a headcase version of Scotty Po. He's definitely a pretty solid player, but he definitely has some issues. I want him, but at the same time I'm a little skeptical.
  3. Brandon Boggs. Not that hard to figure out. Or Reed I guess, but I prefer Boggs.
  4. That's why we should trade for Nyjer Morgan, but we won't.
  5. http://twitter.com/Ken_Ro...status/51346123058712576 Link to those reports of no Nyjer.
  6. Well, with Gomez tearing the cover off the ball in ST, he's gonna start the year hitting 2nd. And yes, I do expect him to hit this year. If he doesn't, then yes, Morgan would be a good alternative. My comment was in regard to just giving him the job over Gomez, which would be dumb, and won't happen.
  7. Um, ok. I'm not an idiot. You don't have to explain to me how baseball and friendships work, lol. I'm just saying that he probably isn't happy about it. I bet if someone asked him he would also say it's business, and I agree, but that isn't to say that he'll be happy to see his friend leave. The guy he drives to the ballpark with everyday and all that. He'll get over it I'm sure, but I guarantee he won't be happy. Dickerson won't be either. He would've been the 4th outfielder on this team, and he'll likely spend most of the season in AAA with the Yankees. Bummer for him definitely. I think Mitre is a good addition, but I hope we get Morgan. I really don't think Reed and Boggs will get the job done for us.
  8. Yeah, they aren't gonna give away Gomez's job to a guy that couldn't beat out Ankiel, Stairs, and Nix to make the Nats roster.
  9. Well, if we end this day with Morgan replacing Dickerson, and Mitre replacing Estrada, then we just got better.
  10. Agreed. He should at least start in RF until Hart is back, and then CF if and when Gomez flames out. At least he could platoon with him.
  11. http://sports.yahoo.com/m...r-Morgan-?urn=mlb-336977 Found this article, which says that the Nats are looking to "give away" Morgan. So hopefully we get him for almost nothing.
  12. Hmm, this I like. I would go from loving Doug, to hating him, to loving him again, all in one day. Nothing new I guess, lol.Seconded! If Doug were to trade...oh....Reed and Kotsay for Morgan.......life would be PERFECT!!!Oh man, that would be the best trade ever. I just hope he doesn't fool us again and trade someone we don't want traded. Then we'll go from love, to hate, to love, and back to hate again.
  13. Aquiring more pitching will always make Braun happy Really, you think he's happy to get Sergio Mitre at the expense of his best friend on the team? Doubt it.
  14. Hmm, this I like. I would go from loving Doug, to hating him, to loving him again, all in one day. Nothing new I guess, lol.
  15. Well, we stupidly traded Dickerson, so pencil in Boggs and Redd as backup outfielders until Hart is back. Sigh.
  16. We also just traded away Braun's best friend on the team, which probably won't make him happy either.
  17. Ahhhhhhh, the more and more this settles in, the more pissed I get. Now Reed for some reason will get a spot, at least until Hart comes back. This makes no sense to me. I get trading for a pitcher, but to give up your best bench player for him? C'mon Doug. Estrada isn't that much worse for what we gave up. Initially I thought it would be nothing.
  18. Well, I now hate this trade. We just traded our best backup outfielder.
  19. Well, we just acquired Sergio Mitre. Looks like Estrada lost his spot already. I'm curious what the bullpen is gonna look like. Roenicke hasn't mentioned it much at all. A few spots will be open if Hawkins and Parra go on the DL.
  20. And Mitre can be an effective relief pitcher once Greinke comes back Yep, which is exactly what we were looking for in our number 5. Also, because he'll have 10 days between starts a few times.
  21. Nice pickup, looks like we've got our number 5.
  22. I wanna know who these scouts are and who they work for. My guess is they work for some pretty crappy teams if this is how they evaluate talent.
  23. I could see them not necessarily living up to their lofty expectations, but awful is a huge stretch. I don't know if it's possible to be awful with our offense and starting rotation. With our rotation, the bullpen won't have to be used as much, so they won't wear down like in previous years. Even if some of our players underachieve, I'm sure others will step up. I don't think there's any way we will end up being awful. I'm not sure we will be division champs or whatever else people say, but we will be good and have a chance.
  24. I'd do this if I got food. I usually get it before the game if I do anyway though. I either tailgate or don't buy food the majority of the time though.
  25. Did you mane pop-up because I don't think the guy has much if any power.I said occasional, and I'm sure Doug would use that as justification also.
