  1. Scarpetta's option will be used to send him to AAA to start the season anyway. Wouldn't make a difference how many times he gets sent up and then back down. Only one option is used.
  2. Always scary to hear about stuff like this. Hope he gets well soon.
  3. And Wolf continues to get lit up in ST. 5 runs already, including a Grand Slam.
  4. I agree. These guys could probably play basketball all of spring training and have no one get hurt. It's really just a freak injury either way. Like falling down the stairs, cutting yourself with salad tongs, and getting hurt lifting suitcases, lol.
  5. I agree that the comparison is kind of stupid. The expectations may be a little high for the Brewers, but I do think we have a good chance to live up to them. The Mariners never seemed to have that chance.
  6. Not saying I agree with this, but this is an interesting article from Rosenthal. He mentions the Mariners from last year collapsing after having similar expectations. Interesting read at least. http://msn.foxsports.com/...ers-biggest-issue-030911
  7. I think it was stupid to be playing basketball just like almost everyone else does. There's no doubt about that, because it was once spring training had already started. I was just saying that it shouldn't affect his contract if playing pickup basketball doesn't violate it. Really, it should be in any player's contract that they can't play pickup once spring training starts, but I don't think teams really expect things like this to happen. It's just an unfortunate occurrence, and could've been worse, so I'm not too worried about it. I'd be a lot more mad if it was a serious injury that kept him out for a good part of the season. This only causes him to miss a few starts.
  8. And I really don't see Greinke being ready by April 16. Even if he misses the minimum 2 weeks, he will still need about 3 or 4 weeks to get his arm ready. He was only 2 starts in. I think him getting back by April 26, the 3rd time a 5th starter is needed, is more realistic.
  9. Nope it's April 6 and April 16. Look at the schedule. We play 9 days in a row starting the 2nd. The April 6 is the 5th day. Then we have an off day April 11 and the 5th day after that is April 16.
  10. It might not be just one guy. We really only need someone on April 6 and April 16. Greinke should be back on or before April 26, which is the third time we need a 5th starter. If Rogers isn't ready we might just go with Rivas the first start and then option him down, and then do the same thing the next start.
  11. Melvin already said that Greinke wasn't in violation of his contract, so all that talk is not really relevant at this point.
  12. I'm a fan of both Bulls on Parade and New Noise. I really think Axford will pick one of those two, so I'm not that worried about it.
  13. Love Braun's last comment in there. "There's no doubt we already had a No. 1." He's right, we still have Gallardo and that is a very good thing.
  14. Looks like he narrowed it down to 10 with a new poll opening up. http://apps.facebook.com/...ndex.php?pid=ABE6K9LOGRo
  15. I think they'll just end up going with the 4 we have all on every 5th day, and then we'll only need to fill 2 starts max. I think Parra will most likely get them if he can even go 3 or so innings, and we'll just go bullpen heavy in those 2 games. Not that big of a deal. I don't see them pushing Rogers just so he can start 2 games for us.
  16. Amen brother. Amen. Haha, yeah there's some real idiots over there. Saying the season is over, and we should've traded Fielder and Hart while their value was high. Saying it was dumb to trade for Greinke. Lol. It's good to read for a couple laughs.
  17. I think he'll be back by the 16th. They said he could pitch with it if he needed to. We may be able to get by with just one spot start. That wouldn't be so bad. I think it is a must to go with Gallardo on opening day, as well as the 5th and 10th. I really don't wanna see a spot starter getting a start in the Cubs series. Roenicke and Melvin better be smart enough to put our other 4 guys on an every 5th day schedule until Greinke is back.
  18. The 16th is a possibility I think. Otherwise sometime soon after that. So, we may only need to fill one start if Roenicke does it the right way. 2 at max. Unless he stupidly goes with a 5-man rotation.
  19. Looking at the schedule, we could just put the other 4 guys on an a regular schedule, and only need a 5th starter on April 6 and 16. Then slot Greinke in on April 26 at the latest and we're fine. We can probably just give Parra or Rogers those 2 starts until Greinke's back. I don't see any reason to not go with a 4 man rotation in April now that Greinke is out.
  20. Except that we play 9 days in a row after the off day after opening day, so we still need a 5th starter for a few starts. No player should be playing basketball once spring training starts. It's stupid.
  21. This sucks. Was looking forward to seeing him pitch, now the wait is just longer I guess. Now we need Rogers to get healthy to fill a few starts.
  22. Well, at least it wasn't any of our bullpen pitchers getting lit up. Just Saito giving up the homer. It was just Dillard and De La Cruz, which doesn't matter.
  23. I'm really pulling for Gomez. He has the potential to be a remarkable talent if he can figure it out at the plate. I really hope he does, because it would be huge for us this year and beyond. The Brewers clearly believe in him, because they were willing to give up Cain pretty easily. Not saying that is necessarily the reason, but they had to believe he could fill in well in CF. I would just like to see improvement this year at least.
