  1. My breakout picks are GALLARDO and GOMEZ. I can't say that I have much faith left in Gomez, but I think that if he's ever going to turn around it will be this year under Roenicke. If Sveum can finally reel in Gomez and teach him to get on base, which I think Roenicke will stress or he'll see little playing time, then I think he could have a huge year. Roenicke likes to run, and Gomez could steal a ton of bases if he can get on base at a better clip. As far Gallardo goes, I think it will benefit him a lot to have Greinke and Marcum with him in the rotation. It will take a lot of pressure off of him to always be the stopper. With better support from the rest of the rotation, he can relax and just pitch. I think he'll step it up and have a huge year. I think he could very well be the best pitcher on our staff this year. My disappointment picks are AXFORD and HART. I hate to pick Axford, but I can't help but think of the trend we've had in the past with breakout closers. They all seem to be one and done. I hope this isn't the case with Axford, but it's obviously a possibility. I think we signed Saito to protect against this happening. However, out of all the closers we've had recently, I think Axford has the best chance of succeeding. Hart is the obvious pick here. I'm not saying he'll have a terrible year, but I really don't think he'll come close to the numbers he put up last year. I don't think he can consistently be that player, but I do think he can be solid. Either way though, unless he puts up similar numbers to last year, he'll be seen as a disappointment. So, I think he'll fall a little short.
  2. http://www.mlbtraderumors...feed&utm_medium=facebook Doesn't mean much but Olney says Young makes sense for the Brewers at SS. I agree, although it obviously won't happen. We don't have the prospects, or the money, at this point.
  3. I could care less about Lawrie. He's no longer in the Brewers organization. It was a great trade. Marcum will be very good. All I care about is this Brewers season. It's gonna be a good one.
  4. Out of everyone on the world series team I don't see why they'd have Oglivie and Simmons. If they do that they'll just do repeats of guys like Yount and Molitor. I know it's stupid, but it seems like they do something dumb every year.
  5. Who else are they gonna do? Prince will be gone. Braun has had more than one. Betancourt sucks, and they aren't gonna do random bullpen pitchers who aren't the closer. That leaves Gallardo, Marcum, Lucroy, Weeks, Gomez, and Hart. But Gomez will likely suck, so he probably won't get one.
  6. Next year will be Gallardo, Marcum, Lucroy, Weeks if he's on the team, Gomez if he plays good this year, otherwise I'd say Hart, and then the classic stupid Bernie or Sausage bobble.
  7. Why would they replace Yo with Greinke? Why not replace Wolf with Greinke? That makes no sense to me. Makes me think that Yo wasn't planned to begin with.
  8. I'm pissed about Wolf and the stupid hot dog again. Should've been Gallardo and either a Hoffman 600 save tribute bobble or Sveum/Deer Easter '87 tribute bobble.
  9. They should've brought back 3TO instead. He's a god here. If they want power off the bench, it's 3TO all the way.
  10. I don't know why they even bothered signing him to a minor league deal, because as you said before LaRussa is obviously going to give him a roster spot whether he sucks or not. Might as well have just given him a major league deal.
  11. If we're just going by wife I'd rather have signed Podsednik. And as long as we're on the subject, we need to find some way to trade for Ricky Romero. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Wow, you weren't kidding. I think we made the wrong move. Lol.
  12. Greinke's wife is hotter, so she would've gotten us all by. We could've done without Kotsay's wife.
  13. The biggest problem I still have with this signing is that it's a major league deal. If it was a minor league deal, then there's no worry. If he sucks, he's gone. But now, I think he's guaranteed a roster spot, which I don't agree with. What if he comes into Spring Training and is absolutely horrible, and is outplayed by Gamel, Boggs, Dickerson, and whoever else. Then what happens? I would guess he still gets a roster spot.
  14. I don't think it's that people want Kotsay over Gamel, it's just that we all know that's what's gonna happen. Gamel was seen as a long shot for the roster without Kotsay here. Might as well go with Kotsay as the 25th man over Boggs or someone worse. I think that's what people like about the move.
  15. Really, we don't even need to Kotsay to play the field all that much. Dickerson can handle the field as a platoon mate with Gomez and as the 4th outfielder. I'd only give Kotsay a few spot starts in RF or LF. He'll likely just fill a Frank Cattalanotto role for us as a primary pinch-hitter. We'd probably be better off just keeping Cruz then as a right-handed option off the bench, and as insurance in the infield.
  16. Amen to that. I hated the Nieves signing. I'd rather just go with Kottaras again. I think the Kotsay signing actually costs both Gamel and Boggs roster spots most likely. Cruz will likely get the last spot now, because he can actually play all the infield positions. I don't see us keeping 6 outfielders and only 5 infielders.
  17. Not true. He has no options remaining. McCalvy also originally reported this, but later retracted it, saying Jim from this site corrected him.
  18. Well, this signing spells the end of any chance that Mat Gamel had of making the major league roster. He's definitely AAA bound now in my opinion.
  19. Yeah, that must be the deal we offered to cause the talks to be broken off, lol.
  20. I voted for 92. I'm choosing to be optimistic.
  21. It's still being advertised, but opening day ticket information was just sent out to other season ticket holders, so I'm guessing opening day tickets won't last much longer. Probably will be gone officially the day single game tickets go on sale.
  22. Brewers - Troy Tulowitzski Packers - Adrian Peterson Bucks - Kevin Durant
  23. It's always been kind of frustrating not to see replays of controversial calls on the scoreboard, but it is what it is I guess. I hope the Brewers find a way to get it done though. I don't see why these replays can't be shown if it's what makes the fans happy. I get being sensitive to the umps, but that isn't done in other sports, so I say who cares.
  24. This is probably the best Packer video ever. Just thought I'd pass it along. Pure gold!
  25. You are being misled by the fact that he mostly DH'd for the White Sox last year. He did that because they had 4 OF ahead of him, not because he couldn't play. In fact last year the "theme" of the White Sox was that Ozzie wanted DH's that could also be used in the field because it gave them more flexibility.. That's why they let Thome go. Kotsay just turned 35. He's not decrepit. No, not really. He sucks in the field when he plays in the field. I don't care if he DH'd a lot. I would rather have Gomez or Dickerson out there anytime ahead of him. Probably Boggs and Reed too.
