  1. He could've easily just said that they'll evaluate all options and that there are internal candidates like Gamel. Didn't have to say that Gamel was likely to get the first crack. Mat Gamel doesn't have a whole lot of trade value as it is. He has to show something at the Major League level. It would be smart to give him a shot in ST to win the job. He hasn't had the opportunity to play everyday yet.
  2. Seeing as Melvin said that Gamel is the frontrunner to replace Fielder at 1B during his end of season press conference, I think you're completely wrong. I think he'll at least be given a chance. Someone may be on the roster to platoon with him, and he might not last but he'll be on the roster.
  3. But what better options are there? Who do you want for shortstop?Exactly, people can argue all they want that Barmes isn't good and they don't want him, but who out there is better at that price level. Sure Reyes could be signed, but at a very, very high price, and with a lot more risk. Barmes will be good for the contract he'll command.
  4. Pretty sure Reyes, Pujols, and Prince won't sign there just to avoid wearing those uniforms and seeing that horrible thing go off when they hit a HR.
  5. HAHA, those uniforms are horrendous.
  6. I've heard conflicting reports on that. With the organization saying that wouldn't consider moving Ramirez. But I just read that the two are good friends, so it's possible Ramirez would move for him.
  7. Sounds like the Marlins wanna make a splash. They are talking to Reyes, and are also planning to go after Fielder or Pujols now.
  8. The Giants are incredibly stupid to trade for Cabrera. They could've gotten more for Sanchez, and honestly Crisp in free agency was a better option for them in CF. The Royals robbed them blind in this deal. Great trade for them.
  9. Sign me up for that. Ramirez must really irritate that organization if they wanna risk signing Reyes to trade him.
  10. Yeah, I doubt he'd say he was that old if he was lying. He could increase his value more if he lied and said he was 21 or 22, although no one would really buy that.
  11. No way the Brewers get him. He's rumored to be going to the Marlins, or possibly the Yankees. It would be sweet though. Miami just seems like where he'd wanna go.
  12. I'll probably go to this and just bring a Super Bowl XLV related item to get signed. Seems like the way to go.
  13. I'm not interested in any of the above at those prices. Possibly for lower prices, but that's it. I do think all but Pineiro and Francis could be possibilities though. Not sure why he thinks we need a 5 starter. We have Narveson for a lot cheaper price.
  14. Watching Thome try to play 1B is gonna be pretty funny. Although they are supposedly going hard after Cuddyer, so Thome wouldn't need to play a lot of 1B then.
  15. Yeah, there are definitely concerns, which in my opinion is why the Royals are balking at including both Cain and Myers. They're willing to take a risk, but not at that price.
  16. RIP Andy
  17. What are you talking about? All I said is they wouldn't want Hart's contract.
  18. Pingman actually posted this exact thing earlier in this thread. Well, no one seemed to listen. Thought I'd post that an expert said that to get through to people. But everyone keeps thinking the Braves want Hart, when he's exactly the contract they don't want. I'm just trying to get people to understand that a trade for anything but prospects isn't happening.
  19. Yeah, we do have somewhat similar prospects I guess. I just don't think we'd wanna take on the extra $10 million in salary though. We'd likely wanna trade Hart as other people said, so we wouldn't add salary. That trade won't happen. Now they're saying the Rockies might get in the discussion with Fowler and Blackmon. They offered Jurrjens and Prado for Cain and Myers. Not sure what the equivalent of that is for the Brewers. It would be tempting though if we could match it, which I'm not sure if we can. We'd have to give up on Prince, and wouldn't really have any other flexibility for other areas unless we traded someone like Hart in a separate trade.
  20. Morosi's latest tweet just confirmed my suspicions. He said Atlanta's main concern is slashing payroll, so they want young, cheap outfielders. Hart doesn't fit that bill at all. Not gonna happen.
  21. Yes, because they are trying to trade both together. I'm just saying that it seems they want prospects for them, or young players. Not someone like Hart. We don't have young OFs of that quality to matchup in a trade with them. Plus, I really don't think Melvin is looking to trade on of the best bats left on his roster for a starting pitcher. My guess is that starting pitcher is his last priority at this point.
  22. I kinda like this. It's definitely an interesting way of doing things.
  23. The fact that the Braves want Cain AND Myers in the deal to even consider it makes me think that they wouldn't even entertain the thought of taking a straight up trade for Hart.
  24. I say bring him in and give him a chance at a bullpen spot. Definitely can't hurt.
  25. If Melvin brings back Counsell I'll be furious. He had a good run, but has nothing left in the tank.
