  1. This hasn't been promoted very well, so I hope this turns out to be something good that works out.
  2. If they're 21, think that it is going to open around 6:45 and close about ten minutes before the start of the game. Some of those details are still being worked on. Edit: you don't have to be 21 to get in, just to buy beer.
  3. Hey Everyone, Don't know if anyone would be interested in this, but there is going to be a pregame party in the Nicolas Johnson Pavilion at the Kohl Center before the Duke game on Dec. 2, which will be open to the public. There will be concessions and beer for sale along with some big screens to check out the other ACC - Big Ten Challenge game that is going on. This part isn't set in stone yet, but there is supposed to be a representative from the Duke Athletic Dept. (possibly the AD), and one of the UW Coaches. It would be great to have a nice showing for this, and represent the University. Hope some people can make it. I'll post again when I have more details. Thanks
  4. I don't get flu shots at all. Every time that I get one, I end up getting the flu like 1-2 weeks later. In the last five years the only time that I got the flu was when I got my shot. I'll take my chances I guess.
  5. Congrats on the engagement. Dragoon, are you talking about Kabul's? If you are, it's really good, you should try it. Afgan food is a lot of lamb and chicken, with different curries. Very similar to Indian food in my opinion. Kabul's is really good for a fair price. Have the Turkish Coffee at the end of the meal, delicious.
  6. I've heard Samba is really good. Also, the Restraunt on top of the Overture Center is really cool, and good food. Nice view of the city. Little pricey, but if it's a special night, worth it.
  7. Whose the guy signing the baseball on the second page? Is that Lorenzo Cain?
  8. The link just takes me to a "start a new topic" page
  9. My dad also own's a car dealership mainly deals in newer used stuff, he loves the Equinox which is a good value for the price. I guess the first thing that I would ask you is how much you want to spend, and how new of a vehicle you would want? The Equinox's are nice, my brother has a Toyota highlander, and his wife loves it. I'll agree that Chrysler products are horibble on gas, and to me the ford escape is just to small, and rides really rough. Rav 4's are pretty nice if you're looking for something a little smaller. I'd think about it and test drive different ones, that's the only way you'll figure out what's right for you. If you're in the Madison area looking PM me, and I'll shoot you the website for our dealership if you're interested.
  10. I wouldn't doubt that one bit. In addition to the Cycling in Madison, I heard that Camp Randall was a potential spot for soccer too
  11. I've been to Wrigley a couple of times, and overall, I'm not that impressed. Although I was impressed the last time we went down because our Bud rep got us into their suite. Which pains me to say, but the suites at Wrigley are a lot better than Miller Park. Overall I'd have to say that Wrigley is a dump though.
  12. Those raffles are usually only a buck a ticket, and I think for that one the winner of the raffle gets a Hank Aaron signed baseball. Even if it was 5 bucks for the auto, it is pretty cool, and the money goes to a good cause. Here's a link to the bobble raffle info.
  13. I guess that my feeling is that there is no space for there to be a cap on salaries, and most of that is union. Workers are guaranteed an x% raise every year weather they deserve it or not. Yes, the company did sign the contract, and I agree with you on the fact that if a company is doing well they should share the wealth, but not if it puts the company in any kind of position where profit margins would be lower. The owners or stockholders of a company are the ones taking all of the risk by putting there money and resources into it, so they should be the ones to see it first. Without the money from owners/investors, these people would not have a job there. Does anyone know if the workers recieve some sort of profit share? Given the economic situation right now, people need to understand that workers are expendable. In my opinion this means that the worker has lost it's leverage. There are plenty of people willing to work at a lower wage if it means that they would have a job. As for the people who "actually make the product" they need to realize that although they are important to the companies success, they are replaceable.
  14. For what these guys actually do, $20 dollars an hour seems like a bit much (if that is what they make). Most probably barely made it through high school. So we are into rewarding people for not getting an education now? I understand that furthering ones education just isn't right for some people, and I don't believe that college is for everyone, but for someone to do the exact same unskilled labor everyday, if they want a job, they should be willing to make some concessions. The union builds up some of these people and makes them think that they are indespensable, when they are. I worked at a job with a union once, and all they did for me is took a cut of my paycheck, and told you how great you were. When will some of these people realize that the company will move if they aren't willing to budge a little bit?
  15. Easy for me, Escobar. Think he has a much better glove, he's quicker, can steal bases, and I think that his bat will keep on getting better. Won't put up power numbers, but I think that he will be a leadoff type of guy. I also don't believe that Hardy has put together a full season. Yes they year he made the all star game he had a good first half, but in the second half he crapped out.
  16. What happens when in three years when the economy might be better, the union demands to renegotiate it's contract and sends everyone on strike? If they moved to Stillwater and were not union, not only would they save on wages, but could probably get by not offering as good of healthcare (I don't know what they have now, just an assumption), and save money, by not having to pay into pentions. I'm interested what they make for wages? If it's even halfway close to what the factory in Janesville was making, I'd think that they would have to move.
  17. Another case of a union killing a local economy. HMMMMM would I rather have a job and get paid or not have a job, and have no money? Let me think. First Janesville, now Fondi, when will people wake up and see that the union just doesn't work.
  18. Just because you'll have a degree, don't expect to be making big bucks right away. You might need to take a lower position just to get your foot in the door. A lot of the people that I know that are unemployed right now are too proud to take a lower position. Getting your foot in the door could open up possabilites a little bit down the road.
  19. The best place would be your local new car dealer. They will be able to get you an exact match, although unless you get it professionally done, it will probably not look the best. Good luck, hope it turns out ok
  20. Why is everyone already down on Escobar? I've always thought that JJ was good, but I thought that it was more for his glove, rather than his bat. He's so streaky that I don't think that he deserves to stay in the lineup. In my opinion, he had one good half of a season in which he made the all star game, and then dumped out the second half of the season. Escobar's OPS is 100 points higher than JJ's right now, and with how bad JJ is playing right now, how could it get any worse. I would like to pose a question, and not to come accross smug, but how many of you have seen Escobar play beyond his handful of at bats that he's had in his previous call up? To me it seems like many fans in Milwaukee have Hungry Eyes Syndrom, where just because it is not the name you are used to in the lineup, it is automatically a bad idea. The big question of Escobar seems to be his bat. It's been the question for him all the way through the minor's, and at each level he's done nothing but prove people wrong.
  21. Not going to be able to make it, but if your into DJ's I see that Diplo is playing. Also, don't know if you are into Electronic/Dance music, but MSTRKRFT (pronounced masterkraft) is playing, and they are awesome. Super good beats, and I'm not that into that type of music.
  22. I'm interested in seeing what Turtle's business venture will be
  23. I've actually done acupuncture quite a bit. When I messed up my back really bad, they do the acupuncture under a heat lamp and then give you a deep tissue massage that really helped. I've also gone for shoulder problems, to stop smoking (if you do this, go the recomended number of times, usually 2 or 3), and just for stress relief. Also many acupuncturists will have chinese herbs that help quite a bit. I used to take this thing called Purged heat. Tasted like crap, but it gave me tons of energy during the day, and then I could sleep at night no problem, just made me feel a lot better. I would definitely give it a try, and sometimes your insurance will cover it if your doctor gives you a referal.I'm not big on western medicine, so this is the route that I took, and it works well for me. If your in the Madison area check out Beijing Accupuncture. It's on University Ave. down by Sonic in Middleton.
  24. You wanted some input so here's mine. It doesn't seem to flow well, and there are a few gramatical errors. Other than stating what other people have said, I don't really see your opinion coming through. That's just me though. I find it hard to read blogs that quote from other blogs. Other than that, I like the layout of the blog itself. I know that this might seem a little harsh, but it is just my honest opinion.
  25. We've had tickets on the field level for a couple of years, and although we do get bounced around, all of the seats are comporable, we just might get bounced from section 126 to say 108. The only part that sucked is that we got bounced all the way up to the 400 level for the playoffs last year, but at least we were in the building.
