  1. I've started to get a bit of a collection, and I was just wondering if some kinds of COA's are worth more than others? For instance is Upper Deck Authenticated worth more than say a JSA item. Just trying to find out what to look for. Thanks
  2. Just so you know, I was one of those people who didn't put academics first, and I make well over $7/hr. The education part of college was a joke to me. Most of my professors were idiot's, and didn't challenge me enough. The teachers in my lower levels all had tenure, and just didn't want to teach. I also didn't get the point of taking a bunch pre-requisites that had nothing to do with my major. The people that I met at the parties have given me lifelong business and personal connections. It's not so much what you know, but who you know. Take this however you want, but if you just stay couped up in your dorm, you'll be missing a lot. My advice is simple. Do what you feel is right, because your the only one that will know what's right for you. If you wanna stay up til 3am drinking, and then go write that history paper due at 7, do it. I did a million things in college that I thought I wouldn't do, they have made me the person that I am today, and I regret nothing. Don't close a door because someone tells you that you should. Have fun!!!!
  3. One of my buddies live in Stallis, right by the Pick and Save around the 76th and National area. Decent area from the times I've been down there. Brand new apartment complex, and being from the Madison area, I thought that the rent was reasonable. The apartment is set up really nice, he has a two bedroom. Plenty of room, and a balcony. Best part is he is only about a 3 minute drive to Miller Park.
  4. P.O.S. - "Never Better". Hip hop, along with a little bit of metal mixed in. Gotta support the midwest artists. If you ever get a chance to see him live, killer show. Here's a link to the video, pretty fresh concept, don't see many videos like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3OpHJUJIrpUAlso, Dessa, absolutely phenominal lyricist. I still can't believe that she isn't very well known. Gorgeous, and she can flow better than 90% of the emcee's out there. Here's a link to one of here songs, http://www.youtube.com/wa...=2-OnH9Cct4U , never really heard someone flow over violins before. And finally Atmosphere's new album When Life Give's You Lemon's... The rest might not make it though the filter. Great album front to back, Shoulda Known, probably my favorite song.
  5. And Blanco forgot to tell you that you can have chili on your breakfast (and pretty much anything on the menu), sound weird, but it's really good. Nightlife, head down to Lanclades Landing. Kind of like a State Street area, but no shops. Just lot's of bars, and a casino. We've stayed at the Sheraton, and the Crown Plaza down there, and they were both really nice. We booked on Hotwire.com, and just chose hotels that were 3.5 stars and above in the downtown area. like 75-80 a night, and they were really nice hotels. As far as Pregame, gotta hit up Mike Shannons. Really cool, open air bar.
  6. Garmin is where it's at. I have a Nuvi 750. Got it for Xmas, but I think that they are like 250 at the stores. Many options like punching in the address, intersection, name of businesses, almost everything that you'll need.Another nice option is the pedestrian feature on mine(even though I don't use it) gives you walkind directions, bike paths and such. At my dad's business they have one of the cheaper garmin's and they seem to work very well too. We took that one on one of our ball trips one year and went from Madison to Kansas City to St. Louis to Nashville, and back to Madison, and never got lost. If you're not going to use it a ton, I'd get one of the cheaper ones, if you are on the road a lot, I'd splurge and get the nicer one. It's also nice when you're in a traffic jam and you just hit the detour button, and get a new route.
  7. I know it's a ways out, but I'm looking for 5 tix to the July 11 game vs. Dodgers, will buy a sixth if I have to. Looking for something preferably in the 100, 200, or 300 levels, and no family sections. If anyone knows of any other place to look, let me know, I've tried ebay, stubhub, and craigslist, and the prices are rediculous. Thanks
  8. Highly recommend going to Soblemens. Some of the best Burgers I've ever had. As far as tailgating, if you don't have a car, grab a 12 pack and just walk around. Always see some interesting things, and people are pretty friendly. Experiencing the tailgate would be the one thing that you must do, along with the game of course.
  9. That is some pretty interesting info. Wonder if there is anyway to predict how the wind would effect a new stadium before they build it, or if they just go with however things pan out? Also, if they even think of that when they build a park
  10. I went through WHEDA to get my loan. It's an agency meant for first time home owners. Some of the things are like you only have to have 3% down instead of 5%. and they usually have rates about a point lower than most banks offer. Here's the website www.wheda.org . They were pretty helpful, and they'll give you a list of banks to go through and things to keepin mind. Like don't overspend. When I figured it out I thought that I could afford a house for $160,000. Glad I didn't spend that much. I spent about $120000, and I am comfortable. Hate to see anyone "House Poor"
  11. This is one of my favorites, doesn't get much better than that. I love the name of his inspirational tape.
  12. Morels are really good, when I was a chef up in Door County we used to buy them off of the hippies. Chantrelles were worth even more money at the time, but they were also a lot harder to find. Think we payed around 50-60/lbs. for chantrelles. Truffles are great, if you can find them.
  13. Tell your wife that you should seperate business and pleasure. If that doesn't work, I vote no to the cubs fans, tell them to go fend for themselves. There will be plenty of other tools there for them to hang out with.
  14. I agree totally, most of the places I've been are a lot more expensive than Miller Park, or they have a lot smaller sizes. The whole being able to carry in food still just baffles me. Does anyone know of any other places that do that? I work in the concession industry so I can kind of understand where they are coming from. Also, the Brewers don't run the concessions, a company is sub-contracted out to do that. They will charge as much as someone is willing to pay.
  15. I also got Lacroy, he was really nice, and asked me if I wanted him to sign on the sweet spot. As far as an inscription for Lawrie how about "ROY..." Just kidding
  16. Saw him play down at spring training, and he looks tough. In my opinion, he's in Lamb's out. His glove looked good, along with his bat. It's an interesting, and tough decision though.
  17. I work at the Kohl Center, I only saw bits and pieces of the game, but they looked pretty impressive. Then I saw the enrollment of the school, and all I could think was wow. The coach seemed to be a class act.
  18. You have to sign up for a players club card. I don't know how much you gamble, but you can only gamble $500 in an hour. Many side bets that are for suckers, and we were denied access to the casino because we were "too drunk". Other than that the casino was good, although the Sunday brunch Buffet was not good at all. Just a different than the casino's that I am used to going to. Very nice asthetically, they just finished construction the March before we were there last year. http://www.lumiereplace.c... Here's the link to the one that we went to the most. It was right in the middle of the nightlife, it would be a bit of a walk (maybe 20 minutes) to the ballpark, but it's right on the trainline, and I believe they had a shuttle to the park. When you go there, you have to hit this little greasy spoon restraunt called Ed's Chili Mac. This place has the best breakfast, and don't be afraid to get the chili on your eggs and American fries, it's delicious! Got to go there in the morning though, think it's only open til 2. Don't be afraid to drive around St. Louis downtown area, it's actually really easy to get around. I agree whole heartily with the other people that for the most part people are really friendly down there.
  19. Been down there a couple of times. Be sure to stay in the downtown area, near the area called Lanclades Landing. There's some shops, bars, a new casino (with unusual rules). we've sat in about 3 different areas, and all of the seats were pretty good. Hopefully in June it won't be too hot. We've stayed at the Crown Plaza, and the Shereton downtown, and both places were really nice, and within walking distance to the ballpark. Pregame is pretty interesting as no one tailgates. A lot of open air bars on game day. Forget the name of the one that we always go to, something Sherman. Really cool bar. Have fun, nice ballpark, and the fans are pretty good for the most part too. For hotels we've had good luck booking on Hotwire.com if you look in the area downtown, and stay in anything 3 stars or above, usually pay only about 60-70 a night for a really nice hotel
  20. It's gonna be cold for that game in February!!! Michigan is playing Michigan St. at the end of October earlier in the season. I think that this will slowly start to loose it's appeal. In all honesty, how many people are going to go sit in the middle of Camp Randall in the middle of February. I understand that a lot of the hardcore fans will show. Did they announce how much tickets were? How much were the ones at Lambeau?
  21. Thinking of traveling over seas next year sometime and thought that it would be good to learn the language a bit. Has anyone used any Rosetta Stone software? In particular any Asian Languages since I think that I will be going to Tokyo. Are they fairly simple? Does it just teach you basic phrases, or does it just teach you words? Basically want to be able to do all of the basic travel stuff. How much something costs, directions, etc.? Any input would be appreciated.
  22. Badger Hockey Showdown this year. Won it in overtime shootout. Unless you don't count it because it was a Tourney game.
  23. I've had both, Dish service really sucked when I had it, every little storm you lost your signal. Yes, it is a bit cheaper, but you get what you pay for. I have Directv now, and love it. No problems in storms, and I think that the rates are fairly reasonable. I pay around 70 a month for top 150, and HBO and Showtime, once the trial is over it jumps up to 90, but if it works well I'll take it. When I had dish, the DVR sucked, I don't know if the upgraded that yet. Also, when I canceled my service with Dish, I kept on getting bills, for like the next 3 months, and it was a real bear to get that taken care of. My parents also had the same issue when they changed. didn't care for their customer service much.
  24. I went to Chase Field for the innaugural WBC, that was pretty cool. The stadium reminded me a lot of Miller Park. The only problem I had was finding someone that actually knew what it was. It was right around the changing of name from the Bank One Ballpark. I was kind of disappointed about the turnout, not many fans out for the game, granted it was Canada vs. USA, but it was still pretty cool
  25. Cecil came off as a really big prick in my opinion. Very concieted.
