  1. He and his wife never really shut the door on 2021 so I think (just my guess) his deal all along was to sit back, Favre it and skip what he can, and if it looks worth it to give it one more go, cross that bridge when the time is right. I don't think JBJ had anything to do with it but might increase the chances something happens. I also think some of us are still way too caught up on positions. Positions matter, but not ANYTHING like they did even 5 years ago. There are plenty of ABs to go around.
  2. Actually think if you removed "the name" from the equation some people would be more open to the idea. Like if he was just random vet they pulled off the streets in midseason. Braun was a really, really good hitter in 2019. He had 500 ABs that season. It's not like this is Bartolo Colon. I agree that he would almost definitely be better than their worst bat off the bench. This way he skips ST, skips most of the season, doesn't break down, and gets to see if they are any good when/if he comes back. I couldn't care less about some other pro ballplayer "working hard all year" and getting bounced. If you suck, you suck. We brought in Curtis Granderson in '18 and got like 20 decent games out of him.
  3. I think Milwaukee is the heavy favorite but I expect it to go down to the wire with St. Louis just because.
  4. For sure, but I don't think they fought it. There is no real incentive for them to deal with it at 25% capacity. It's probably an annoyance if you think about it. A lot of people go just for that reason, it's one of the perks of Milwaukee baseball. I think at 25% capacity they will sell those tickets regardless. And now they don't have to supervise it.
  5. I don't think the tailgating has much to do with anything other than optics. There are all kinds of arguments about spread and what not, but in reality someone going to a game to get piss drunk has very, very likely not been taking this whole thing super seriously. And it will still be pretty low overall risk at a 25% full stadium. It simply just doesn't look good to open out of the gates with bag toss and 40 people drinking out of red solo cups. I'm not upset with the team in the slightest. With the rules in place and some things off the table, you get a different pool of people who are showing up too. It'll be people who know what they are getting into and will just do what they've been asked.
  6. A team can still do what it wants. I'd guess none will just open at 100% capacity. Disney World has been free to do this for some time and has maintained its own crowd limit.
  7. 35 year old Cespedes over a GG-level defender who's averaged 20 home runs a season for the four years before Covid. No thank you. And preferring Seager to Bradley is...well I'm just glad you're not in charge.
  8. This is clearly why they promised season tickets as long as you conceded your seat getting moved all the time. They already screen for club tickets, I am guessing they do that at each level; can't get to loge without loge ticket, etc.
  9. Could be. But by continually upgrading the defense, you could also flip a 2-1 loss to a 2-1 win in several places. Better defense means more competitive in close games. The Brewers have been so successful in those games over the last four seasons, it's just not a coincidence at this point. They know what they are doing. They clearly ID'd some kind of market inefficiency for DRS and figured out it was a more practical attempt than loading up on one big bat. I'm really excited to watch this team. I feel like most of my life has been watching a team that doesn't really play defense swing for the fence and hope they can score 8 runs.
  10. Drunks aren't good at distancing or anything really. Now if you're asking me personally, it's all a bit theatrical, but from their perspective if they have to pass this off as "safe," a very bad way of doing that is the two-fisted slobber sauntering through the entry gate 10 beers deep.
  11. Tailgating was almost for sure a non-starter for the city. At best, they would allow tailgating with a capacity at 5% or something. It makes no sense for the Brewers to die on that hill anyway. They'll fill 25% without it and get more money inside the gates without tailgating. My guess is there will be tailgating at some point, probably sooner than most think.
  12. To be trying to win, you have to arbitrarily hit a number that's higher than the one from last year. Context be damned. If you want to get better, just throw money at whatever is there.
  13. Seems pretty easy to enforce. They already really clamped down on kicking people out by the 3rd inning. With a 25% capacity it doesn't seem too tough to bike around telling people they can't tailgate. I guess any news in good news regarding attending games, but this feels stupid and I don't know why anybody would want to invest season ticket money in it. It's one thing to grab a random game or two, but this just isn't the value you get in a normal year.
  14. They made it sound like if you wanted your 20 pack you were almost guaranteed to get it, provided that you knew your seat location would change a lot and you had to go with a fixed set of games. Fan's Choice wasn't really promised or offered. If your seat was worse, you got a credit for that game. I basically opted out of this. I'll go month to month and maybe catch a game if I can, I can't justify the cost I already paid for what this is looking like. I'd rather just wait for next season.
  15. I don't even look at anyone as a 4th OF. They just have tremendous flexibility to play matchups now without sacrificing any defense in the OF. That and at least one of them is bound to get hurt.
  16. $188.5 million commitment to one guy doesn't count as spending money because he's already on your team. Got it. I've heard it all. I wonder if I can get a bank to help me put an in-ground pull in the backyard on the grounds it's not real money because I already have the house.

  18. Though I like this signing, for me anyway, this doesn't tell me or show me the Brewers won't spend money. It's a two year deal with an opt out after 1 at 12 million/yr. VERY team friendly. To show me they are willing/can spend money I would need to see some long term deals..3 years minimum(preferably 4-5) for Free agents before I'm inclined to think they will spend $$. No, re signing Yelich doesn't count(in my book). Now get 2 or more other guys locked up like that, THEN I will be convinced they spend money. "No, this doesn't count...THIS doesn't count either..." you sound like an older brother that lost.

  20. I have no problems with the Packers' receiving corps. Just because most of them are not high picks, it doesn't mean they aren't talented. Guys with the talent of MVS, St. Brown, Lazard and Funchess would play anywhere. They are obviously not Adams-level talented (no one is), but they are talented guys. I think it is more than likely they draft WR early, and perhaps multiple WRs, because, as of right now, Adams, MVS, St. Brown and Funchess are unrestricted free agents after the 2021 season, while Lazard will be a restricted free agent. Yeah I don't agree with that assessment of the talent at WR at all. MVS looks every part of a future star WR. He has to catch the ball and put it together but there is no denying his size and explosiveness and he took a giant step last season. Lazard is a good player. If MVS pans out they are fine. I still have no problem with drafting a WR, even in the 2nd round, just because it seems like you can never have too many of them.

  22. Don't know for sure but most teams stay at the Westin across the street from the stadium. A lot of players literally just walk right over.
  23. AZ is a much better spot than Pitt. The NFC in general is probably a better place to be. There's not a clear one or two favorites, and if you get to the NFCCG and play the Packers you're already in.
  24. I knew someone would bring up the Tampa thing but it's just not the same. Brady is a QB. There's a huge opportunity for QBs to influence every single offensive snap. Especially when your predecessor turned the ball over 45 times. He's not a dumb guy. He knew if he was even decent there with those weapons, they would compete. That said, AZ being really good next year wouldn't be stunning. That's a good, inconsistent team close to being a really good one. Surprising because I didn't even see a rumor about AZ, but it does make sense with some time to digest. I thought he'd go for a more established QB, though.
