  1. I'd never seen Green until he was with the team and I know this sounds dumb, but the moment I saw him on TV I was convinced he was going to stink. Angel Salome for me. He was the big catching piece in that mid 2000s wave of studs we had. In retrospect it's pretty amazing how many of those guys panned out.
  2. So the original 10K don't need proof of vaccination? Never going to happen especially since the rollout has been completely inefficient, everyone won't have access to the vaccine by opening day. I've been communicating with my rep a lot about this. The full and half season folks will be golden. The 20-packs pre-set plans will also be fine. The Fan's Choice will get pre-sales for individual games for what's left. This will be evaluated month-to-month. If you want 20 guaranteed games, you have until today to change to a pre-set. For example, Fan's Choice will get an option to elect games for April, based on availability. What they don't use will rollover to May/2022. They could just not go at all, and roll the whole thing 2022. So you will still have some version of Fan's Choice, your games just may not be there when it's your turn. There will be promos this year, but not many. The only official ones are some Sundays they know they will give out bobbles. Because of the way those are purchased, the same bobble will be given out more than one date. They ordered 30k Aaron bobbles for example, and they may be given out in two dates of 15k or three dates of 10k. The team's hope is that at some point they can flip a switch and do full capacity this season. You can also elect your 20 games in FC now, so that if that happens, you're already in the system. This would also get you the games you do want IF they are available under the current circumstances.
  3. Well if they're gonna run with Hiura I'll cross my fingers. Justin Turner would make this team the favorite in the NL Central, maybe?
  4. He really can't play second base. He just doesn't have the arm. I'll be fairly surprised if he isn't traded though. I just feel like he's not in the team's long-term plans.
  5. Turner's camp is milking the Brewers to get the Dodgers to throw a few more nickels in. That's my perception.
  6. What move could they make that would give them a better roster on paper than LAD?
  7. Wong isn't Walmart shopping. He is a legitimate second baseman that just won a Gold Glove and can post 20 DRS in a season. The Brewers will always have to find market inefficiency. They can't buy sluggers like 1/3 of the league does.
  8. If we trade Hiura, then we're back to needing a 1B. Not sure we don't need one anyway. Plus, you could trade him for a 1B. It doesn't have to be a great one depending on what kind of deal you're going for. Just a gut feeling, but I don't think the Brewers look at Hiura as a long-term piece. He's a one-dimensional good hitter, but he is controllable, so he should be able to be moved. I don't think the team thinks he's a good as the fans do. Hiura just doesn't really fit the DRS contact hitter model they seem to be going with.
  9. Something in my gut tells me Hiura is getting traded.
  10. I feel like the 'overpriced' comments are just outdated. Eric Sogard commands $2-3 million.
  11. Jaire's next step would be making more plays on the ball. It's hard when they don't throw at you.
  12. I couldn't care less about the Badgers and I think he's a good fit. He's young, fresh, and a Pettine disciple, which will be used against him by some, but I think it helps ease the transition. The scheme itself is not so bad that it needs to be blown to pieces. There are just some weird tendencies that need to be addressed, and yes, some terrible calls that were made. I also don't think being a 'disciple' means you have nothing to offer that the last guy didn't.
  13. I don't think ties to UW will get him the HC job he wants in college either. He would likely get poached to be HC at Central Michigan or something and have to wait to go back to the Big 10. If he goes to GB and their defense performs, that is a bee line to a HC job in the NFL or a higher level NCAA job. I can't see a scenario where he passes on the NFL to be a DC at UW. I guess it's possible.
  14. Mike Pettine's salary is somewhere in the ballpark of $1 million more than Jim Leonard. He'd have to really love them.
  15. I'd trade 5 firsts for Watson if I were the Bears. It's been 40 years since they had a QB. Not likely they draft anyone as good anyway. They have nothing to lose.
  16. Sounds like Fan's Choice is basically an opt out for 2021 with a presale for games if you want it. No way I'm switching to a pre-set plan in this clown show to get shoved in Bernie's Terrace. I'd rather just wait and get what I actually bought. No grievance with the team, their hands are tied, but this doesn't sound fun.
  17. An 8-8 team with nothing at QB is likely a contender when they add an all-pro QB.
  18. Lord, this Rodgers thing is going to have legs all summer as long as random guys keep feeding it. And someone like Rodgers should know that paying him and "going all in" are counterproductive things.
  19. If I were the Bears I would throw anything at getting Watson. How long can you stand having nothing at QB? It's very, very rare that someone that good, a proven talent, comes available at age 25. That is easily worth multiple 1st round picks.
  20. Stearns was an assistant GM at 27, GM at 30, and this supposed friction over having someone so young was shockingly a non-issue. On the contrary, he was a super genius. Lol, what could be the difference? Lots of assumptions made over what her actual job is, too. She has been with the team for 4 years. They wouldn't dole this out randomly because she's a woman. Tenure doesn't make someone due for a promotion or even good at what they do. She is obviously a bright person with a lot to offer.
  21. Favre Lite for me was always Jay Cutler. Stafford was Philip Rivers in a worse organization. Hard for me to predict how the Rams will be, they still have a money/FA problem. Plus, that division is so competitive, I can't tell you who will be 1st or 4th. No team finishing in any slot would surprise me. How does SF bounce back? Is Seattle about to drop off (it kinda feels like that is looming) and be 8-8? Kyler Murray seems to have AZ headed in the right direction. It's just a very competitive division.
  22. Rams think Stafford gives them a chance to win now, but they have 7 starters on expiring deals. They soured on Goff but this was as much about that as it was solving a financial problem. They are sort of dire straits there and Stafford "only" comes with a $19mm cap hit. And I think they can get it to around 15 if he restructures.
  23. The Lions will probably blow the picks and Goff stinks. The worst part of this for GB is that Stafford could make LA really good.
  24. New England isn't for everybody. I think there's a reason they've gotten a lot of production from retreads that were cast aside by most of the league. Those guys have limited options and the Patriots are cheap. Smart, but cheap. I think there are some veteran players who expect their names to carry a certain level of admiration and respect and that's just not really how the Patriots roll.
  25. Who argued their ages don't matter? The argument is that Rodgers is better than Stafford and probably will be over the next contract. Not that age is irrelevant. But I'm not sure how you can both argue that Stafford is both overrated(or rated fairly) and that him being 5 years younger makes up for the difference in talent. I don't think that's a difficult argument to make. Stafford is good, but there are people who think he's a borderline Hall of Famer cursed by Detroit. He's always referred to as "underrated," but once everyone says that are you really underrated? The best quarterbacks can will crappy teams to 9 or 10 wins, Stafford can't. They've been a perennial loser for the most part. I think he's better than Goff though. I think you might get this haul for Rodgers, I really don't know. But if Stafford works out he may be a 7 year solution. I dunno if Rodgers is that for anybody. I also think the Rams got hosed in this though. I'm stunned Stafford got that kind of return.
