  1. Can someone TLDR what's going on with football for me?
  2. Perhaps overly optimistic but I still think this team will go an a 7 game winning streak or something, creep into the expanded playoff and at least make it fun. There are a lot of whiffs this off-season but there is still a ton of talent on this team. They're better than this. It's just tough because in a regular season, while this start would still have a lot of people up in arms, it would be completely reasonable to still think they have a shot. Even this last two years this team has gone extended periods looking mediocre or just downright bad. A lot of the flyer guys suck though. None have really worked out to this point.
  3. They tried that and it was ineffective. Maybe this won't be either, but you escalate when other things don't work. I don't know how this is lost on so many people. They didn't go from 0 to this overnight. It sounds like you are bothered by them not playing.
  4. If you register with Similac/Enfamil they will continually send you a train of significant discounts on formula. It's quite expensive so it's worth doing. Even if you guys are breastfeeding you may run into supply issues down the road like we did. I can't really think of stuff we got free. You can get a Bernie Brewer certificate at their first game though
  5. My question is do you think the never should make political commentary? That just seems incredibly limiting to them as people. It's incredibly difficult for me to interpret that sentiment as anything other than "I don't like it when entertainers express a view that isn't mine." The exact same people that want to run LeBron over are the same ones applauding Chris Pratt or something when he talks about Jesus. It's one thing for people to object to large entities taking sides on things. If Target does this and you don't like it, by all means, don't shop Target. If someone shoves a mic in a famous person's face and says "whaddya think about this" and they answer the question, I don't see the problem. When Joe Blow runs a local fundraiser for something he believes in, it is universally applauded. Famous people using their platform to champion things they believe doesn't bother me. There's nothing wrong with wanting to do something bigger than basketball/acting or whatever. Just because that made you rich doesn't mean you're forced to stick to it 100% of the time. If my name were a billion-dollar brand I would like to think I'd use it to change some things that help other people.
  6. I don't think that's entirely true. One of the triggers of the Floyd thing was the lag between what looked like an egregious offense and formal charges. It took several days. There was a debate about the legitimacy of that timing with some saying it was crucial the bring proper charges, but I also read legal professionals claiming that was baloney. So the lack of a quick arrest was one of the triggers. I get your point though. I'm sure if they had been arrested right away it still would have been huge. It's a horrible video.
  7. I think it's clear they are expecting legal moves in the Blake incident. But what happens if the situation is murkier than it appeared at first glance? I'm not saying one thing or another but "File charges or we don't play" is a bit of a gamble when we have nothing but a video at the moment. And of course, we don't prosecute things based on athletes playing or not.
  8. Yeah, yikes. I have a high opinion of this place and consider to be well advanced relative to other more popular boards I'm on, but yikes.
  9. 1. How would leaving their salaries behind 'make a difference'? How is that at all relevant? 2. You're the second person to suggest cancelling the season months ago and it makes no sense. The trigger for this was last weekend. 3. We've seen what happens when athletes take a position on this issue, I don't know why some are asking like this is the first time they've reacted to it, and it's generally not favorable for them to do so. They have done kneeling, arm locking, shirts, jersey names etc., and remain unsatisfied with the results. So an escalation of things seems logical to me. This is without me even taking a position on what they're doing. But questioning their motives strikes me as very odd. I don't doubt that they think they're doing the morally right thing.
  10. I immediately wondered if the Brewers would. The demographics of both leagues are extremely different though. On some level it may be best to do so just to avoid the optics of playing.
  11. I think that's the point. Then why come in the first place? This is a weird take and it feels weirder explaining it. They came to play in June, then a guy was shot in Kenosha on Sunday, the city that's on fire in the team's backyard. Given that the NBA is comprised overwhelmingly of the race at the forefront of the issue, it doesn't surprise me that they feel guilty and silly playing today, and see their position of privilege as one that can be used to make otherwise unaffected populations think a bit about what's going on. I am not going to waste any time validating or invalidating what they're doing or the merits of it, but it's not hard at all for me to understand why they would do something, and insinuating that it means they don't want to win a championship or something seems beneath a poster of your intellect.
  12. I think that's the point.
  13. I will disagree on that point. I've worked at home with multiple kids. Like most things you adjust and figure it out and the difficulty factor begins to wane. I've had infants, toddlers, two at the same time. It is all about structure and having a routine for them. They do this from 8-9, this from 9-10, once they get used to it things are much easier. I've had periods where it is difficult but $300 a week is worse imo, but that will depend on the nature of the work and how much you value being completely uninterrupted. The first year is the easiest to do it, imo, solely because they are less mobile, nap twice usually, and do not expect you to participate the way older kids do. 5+ they begin expecting a court jester to entertain them all day. I had gotten a routine down to a point with both kids in the first 18 months or so of their lives, where I was not forced to separate from work all that much. He was napping at 9am, then again around 1. I would take lunch in the period he was awake and managed to pull it off for a long time. I never found the infant period to be half as bad as seemingly everyone in your life hypes it up to be and that was even with my second who woke up all the time all night. When they gain independence I found it much more difficult as their threshold for "fun" was a lot higher.
  14. Just stick to the things you actually need and away from well-marketed gadgets that end up used once and then sit in a cabinet. Swaddles were essential for my kids and helped them sleep a lot easier when very young and I strongly preferred the ones with velcro straps. Pack n Play was used often, a good jump-a-roo. Especially with two, spring for a quality stroller that actually can steer so you aren't turning corners with a humvee. I did a lot of baby-carrying but I think that's more a preference thing. You need far fewer toys and cutesy crap than you're led to believe. They'll usually play with the Amazon box that stuffs come in more. Cluttered toys get annoying fast. You'll figure the rest out and be fine. If you're having a shower, the more practical stuff you can put on there and get others to buy, the better. But people seem to have this undying need to buy less useful, cute junk in my experience. Two things no one told me about: They look oddly purple when they come out but it's normal. And be prepared for some possible billing shenanigans where they bill some things as the babies and some things as mom, thus everything isn't covered by a single person's deductible, but probably depends on insurance. I cloth diapered my kids. That's a line in the sand for a lot of folks, I know, but it does save thousands of dollars. Would require some organization with a pair at once though. Good luck.
  15. It's hard not to be worried about him. A 30-point game where he shoots 12-of-22 would help. We need him to be the guy he was all year, not Tony Snell.
  16. I don't know what his deal is, but we should all pray it's exclusive to something ORL is doing.
  17. I don't think this year's team will be a big influence on renewals. The team draws well even when it's going in as a known rebuilding year and I don't think they are quite there. There is a good deal of exciting talent on the roster to draw reasonably well and people will just miss going. Personally I'm using the credit to upgrade the seats significantly and just basically tacking on my normal payment since I view last year's and gone and spent anyway. I expect it will be down in general due to the pandemic but not significantly because of the team. I dunno how the 60+ crowd feels about being packed into a stadium, and that's a lot of folks. I think masks and such are reasonable expectations, but I think the loss of flexibility within the packages may loom large and be something a lot of people are not thinking about. If I were to wait until March I wouldn't expect to get what I want, especially not opening day if it's for 20k people. That will be entirely comprised of people that really want to go back.
  18. That's part of my point. They're letting people "renew" and commit to spending right now and most people assume that means they're getting Product A. They may end up being offered Product B. It never says you're guaranteed to get the 20 games you pick, it's subject to availability. It's just never been an issue before.
  19. Brewers sent renewal invoices last week and attached a due date of 9/28. I'm renewing again and never asked for a refund so I got the 10% credit. But I am a bit apprehensive about it just because we have no idea what April 2021 is going to be like. It seems hard to believe there would be a 100% capacity allowance by then. And will masks be required? I don't know if I want to bother doing that. I can already see an issue if people renew, then are told 5 months later that they have to wear a mask, sit in every other seat/row, and a bunch of stipulations they don't want to agree to. And if the games are played and you're allowed in, there aren't going to be refunds.
  20. eBay is such a nightmare to deal with now with the cut they take. It's obscene, especially once you get really valuable stuff and it starts to really be noticable. There's an ease of it that's nice I guess, but I try to unload things basically by any other means, like Facebook or even Craigslist first. Facebook has many dedicated memorabilia groups where the users are thoroughly vetted and trusted and vouched for by other members. I'm in one for WI stuff but I'm sure they have groups for anything you're selling. If you have a lot to sell, you get to keep a lot more of your money that way. Razzing stuff will also sell for a higher price than it does on eBay.
  21. Middleton shooting well and it's a blowout.
  22. You have to weigh the fact that Korver is useless besides doing that one thing, though. You can't leave him in to play defense for an extended period of time and he's zero threat to attack the basket. Hill and Mids are great 3-pt shooters. Korver is too, but as I said... The rest are really nothing special. You have to crack 38% to make the top 40 in today's NBA which is pretty remarkable. Matthews and Ersan are decent at it, but nothing to write home about. Matthews is a much more versatile player than Korver though. I would not call the Bucks a poor shooting team, just not a great one. I think it's fair to say it doesn't stack up with a lot of the league, but the rest of league doesn't have Giannis, so it's a balancing act. We might have enough, I'm less convinced of that than I used to be, though.
  23. I don't think anyone has said it's OK to use, but you conceding that it's worse in the context means that one use can be worse than another. It's grounds for firing for any broadcaster of his stature to screw up that badly. But I have no problem separating the degrees of offensiveness between say, Josh Hader and John Rocker.
  24. In other words, the cancel culture is much more entrenched so ruining a person's life and career over an offhand word or two is much more accepted. I'm not defending what he said, but he didn't assault anyone. Yeah I'm sorry, but I use the phrase "cancel culture" a lot, and I have a lot of problems with that "movement," and this is just not a good example of it. People that keep saying that are really missing the point with why this was a big deal. This wasn't an offhand word or two. This is a guy very casually dropping a term in the exact context that makes it so offensive. For example, if a video surfaced of two MLB players goofing off in the hotel, and one of them had said "Knock it off you (Thom word)," it's still probably forcing an apology and some uproar, but it's in a completely different context that can be explained as an inappropriate slip. It's still not going to be condoned and it shouldn't be, but he's using it in a dated colloquial way. Brenneman used it to disparage an entire group of people deliberately. The way it was said is a strong indicator that he's used it often, and clearly had no qualms about saying it at work, loudly. This wasn't a recorded conversation in his kitchen. The context in which you use a bad word matters, a lot. If Josh Hader's incident had been dug up by someone finding him ranting N this and N that on a KKK board, it would be far less forgivable than an edge lord teen repeating stuff he heard in rap songs for shock value. It's disingenuous to blow this off as an overreaction to a naughty word.
