  1. I moved up to the Twin Cities for family reasons, but am considering moving back after retirement.
  2. Land in Buffalo County is expensive (I lived there 12 years). BC is the #1 county in the US for Boone and Crocket rated bucks. I saw a 16+ point atypical buck on someone's tailgate at KwikTrip during one hunting season. 10 years ago (when I lived there) people would rent out their hunting land for $1000/week/person. But a very nice place to live. LaCrosse area too.
  3. Good point... especially since Freddy himself wasn't high on Seattle's prospect list when we acquired him.
  4. Doesn't matter whose idea it was. He leads the team and got a slap on the wrist for it. It wasn't rare in idea, but in substance it had them going out to hurt someone. Basically the same IMO as a TLR lead team throwing beanballs because someone lingered too long to watch a HR. Cheap crap derived from a low-life person.
  5. There is only one retired former Packer that is currently at this playing weight/conditioning:😉
  6. Chourio (and perhaps Made) is the only player that is "untouchable" on this team. But that doesn't mean it needs to be a firesale. Peralta has a lot of value as a starting pitcher and for his contract. We have every right to ask for a lot because he has every bit of value for our team also.
  7. There is this new tool called "Google"...😛 It is the Packers' second game in Denver in the last three seasons (2023). The regular-season series between the Packers and Broncos is tied at 7-7-1. Green Bay has won four of the last six contests between the two clubs. The Packers are 1-7 at Denver, with their only victory coming in 2007.
  8. Is it required to trade all three Antetokounmpos at once? 🤔 It would be a shame to break up the set...
  9. This seems like a "water is wet" type article. Of course other teams are going to improve (on paper). That is what the offseason is for. Of course, the last couple of years had us predicted to be a 500 team and we ended up winning the division both years. So offseason hype rarely lives up to the reality of the season (especially for the Cubs 😉)
  10. I've been a huge Megill fan over the last couple of years, but he is also the type of player that you trade away at a high point. Not saying he will go all Devon Williams next year, but when someone tips over the 30 yo mark and you have a good pipeline of players behind him, you need to leverage him into improvement elsewhere. No reason to give him away for peanuts, but if someone gives a good return, why wouldn't we listen?
  11. But seriously... I grew up with real trees that we'd find on my parent's land. My wife and I only did artificial ones (she grew up in Iowa where trees are an invasive species) until a few years back when we bought one real tree. It was nice, but the clean-up was more a headache than the benefits. So we are back to artificial trees. We have a place under the stairs where we store it so we don't have to put it away totally (just cover it with sheets - minimal fluffing).
  12. I took my family out into the wilderness to cut down a Christmas tree, but forgot the axe, so we just dug it up and brought it home. But keeping it hydrated was a chore. My uncle was smoking a cigar near it and the whole thing went up in smoke. Thankfully, I had an evergreen in the yard that served as an emergency standin. But when I did bring it in, a squirrel came with it and it chased the family around the house for a while (we all suffer from an odd fear of squirrels - sciurophobia ). But it is Christmas with the family that counts. 😉
  13. Last year, I was ridiculed for making the comment that I'd take Love over Hurts. Hurts was playing better football at that time, but is a more of a system level QB. Hurts benefited from everyone bailing out to stop Barkley. This year their run game hasn't been as strong. Love has the higher ceiling and this year that is showing.
  14. Next Bears matchup: Should Parson rush from the right side (defensive view point)? During the game, I was thinking that Parsons was too aggressive as Williams kept escaping from the hole he created on the right side and made some big throws late in the game. I was wondering if he should try to contain more... But today, I got to thinking...what if he rushed from the right side more? Williams kept escaping in the hole on the left side and being a right handed-QB, was able to make a few good plays. But if he is scrambling to Caleb's left (defense's right), he would have a much harder time throwing the ball. Keep Parsons' disrupting, but make it harder for Williams to pull up and pass.
  15. Sorry, I wasn't trying to dispel anything you were saying. I was legit curious if they were using Wooden at the 3 technique (or DE) in short yardage... I was hoping you might've had a source (and/or too lazy to go look myself 😉).
  16. The Broncos seem to be built in a similar fashion to the Packers: A strong defense with a complementary offense. Denver has scored 14 less points scored on offense (GB 10th, Denver 15th overall , but gave up 12 less points on defense (GB 4th, Denver 2nd). But for all the good reasons to beat Denver, Sean Payton still tops the list. Dude should've been banned for life.
  17. What about short yardage situations? Any cases of Wooden playing 3 with another NT? Or Wooden at DE? I'm guessing one of the four NTs is going to leave the roster soon (Stackhouse?), but even having three NTs seems to indicate that Wooden might get flexed elsewhere in certain situations. Especially with Brooks being a poor run defender. Also Bohanna will probably change the depth chart (again) with a full week of practice.
  18. For the first 8 (or so) games of the season, Love was electric against clean pockets are horrible otherwise (blitz or not). So the easy button was constant blitzing - I think both the Browns and Bengals did that heavily. Maybe Carolina too? Seems like he has turned a corner (at least the last few games) on that. Now, if you blitz and the OL picks it up so he has a clean pocket off the blitz? 🔥
  19. The last few games has been very encouraging with Love vs the blitz. Early in the season, he was looking more like a deer in the headlights when blitzes came, but he is clearly adjusting to it now. The OL has certainly improved blitz pickup (thus making some blitzes a "clean pocket throw" with fewer defenders covering receivers), but I'm even more encouraged by the plays where Love has a free-runner and he knows exactly where to deliver the ball. One of the few intelligent additions Tom Brady had to the broadcast yesterday was when there was a LB blitz with a clear path to Love, yet he threw the ball right back into the vacated coverage spot to complete a pass to a TE. Love is clearly more decisive when blitzed (the second Watson TD was another example). He has a better feel for where it is coming from and where to attack it. That is often the difference between good and great QBs. I railed on it early in the season, so I have to point it out when he fixed it too.
  20. Both of them were pretty clearly in the gray of "what is a catch?". William's fumble recovery was more surprising because no one was doubting the catch initially. Kind of stinks when they review something we didn't ask them to review... Musgrave... it seemed like while the ball was moving, he still had his hand under it... but clearly was not clear-cut catch. Nice play regardless. I was encouraged by Musgrave in this game. We need a TE to take up some of Kraft's pass catching responsibilities. Yeah, I'm here too. If anything MLF was running off while Johnson stood there. Neither looked like they wanted more than the formal handshake. Not everyone is or needs to be "buddies"... that doesn't mean there is disrespect there.
  21. Funny thing is that I thought "now would be a great time for an INT", but then immediately doubted it... Nah, they will roll out Williams or run it up the gut... Why would they pass the ball???
  22. Packers pick up NT Jordan Riley and claim NT Quinton Bohanna off waivers this week. I wonder if they are going to use Wooden more at Wyatt's DT position and want more backups at NT (especially in obvious run scenarios)? That would reserve Brooks for pass rush snaps and "hide" him more on rushing downs. Brinson has shown some glimmers of hope this year, too. But I can't see them carrying this many NTs on the team for long.
  23. The more I think about this... I'm going to guess the Knicks game was the breaking point. Giannis was mugged all game while Brunson was getting every ticky-tack call. Especially the 3pt attempt with Giannis defending him; Brunson kicked out his foot, flopped on the floor and got the call. Bucks call for a review (where you clearly see Brunson kick his foot out into Giannis) and they "confirm" the call. There was your dagger. 😠
  24. OKC has a lot of draft capitol... Oklahoma City Thunder Future Draft Picks - RealGM OKC also is under the first apron of the salary cap, so it would take less finagling to make that work. The Knicks aren't even $150k under the second apron.
  25. I'm not a big conspiracy guy, but this doesn't feel quite right. All the love and commitment in the offseason when it would've been easy to trade him... and now 20 games in and we are talking about the future? Blah. Giannis seems to be down in his FA attempts while the league is giving him their best 90's Detroit bad-boys treatment. No love for Milwaukee. 😞
