Long Term is Patrick a Starter or reliever?

This. I've been a big proponent of Patrick starting last year, but the more I see of him the more I understand why the Brewers are using him the way they are. As a starter, he is probably more of a 4 or 5 (yes, I know his stats will say otherwise but that is mostly because the Brewers are limiting his exposure). His best ability for the team is his flexibility. Spot starts when needed, multiple relief innings to backup a short start, and even some high leverage single innings. Not many guys can handle that variety mentally. Sproat clearly has higher potential as a starter... just got to get him over that 80 pitch hump. Henderson, Gasser, and Crow are pretty similar stuff-wise to Patrick. Crow has an elite CB that might distinguish him a bit though. Likewise with Henderson and his change. And lefties (Gasser) always get extra opportunities. I thought Drohan was going to be a AAAA SP or BP guy... now I'm not so sure. Oddly, it is probably Patrick's flexibility that works against him being a consistent starter. -

Brandan Sorsby might declare for the Supplemental Draft so I was poking around his draft profile and noticed that (at least one publication) listed Levis, Ridder, and Pratt as three QB comps. There would be some headwinds against the Packers picking him: normally avoiding the supplemental draft already paying Taylor (but we saw that didn't help Brandon) the gambling conspiracy that might force Sorsby into the draft But given that the Packers picked up (and released) Ridder and drafted Pratt, it got me wondering if they might take a late round flyer on him. We have duplicate 4th and 6th round picks in next years draft (plus 4 expected Comp picks). I see some chatter about him going in the 2nd or 3rd rounds...but that would've been if he came out for the normal draft. The gambling conspiracy is going to make people hesitate. I would expect somewhere in the 4th or after.

At a Brewer game, no need to chant anything about the Bears. Ill fans chanting about the Packers at a Brewers/Cubs game means only one thing...

Wouldn't surprise me if it was an MLB demotion handover. Seeing his rotation-mates getting more opportunities than he is...and after he finally had a measure of success at the MLB level. But the reality is that he is probably a AAAA or BP pitcher anyway.

I will continue to watch all my games on the same streaming service... NFL+. If I can't watch the game on the streaming services/OTA that I have... I just watch it in replay. Living in MN, I've gotten used to not having it live.

Any trade of Giannis is going to require a contract extension, so the only difference is that Bane's contract was complete while Giannis' just needs some lip service.

It would seem like the evidence says that the $1M was the insurance policy. In retrospect, it stinks, but so does not having a kicker.

You really do need an engineer (which I am). 😉 Use landscape fabric to keep the soil in the pot and let the water drain through. Honestly, skipping the soil and using rocks will probably work too. The sound hitting the rocks at the top will need to transfer through multiple interfaces (rock to rock, rock to pot, pot to roof) that will insulate the sound sufficiently.

I like @valpocrewsader's suggestion. But for variety, I'll go the other direction... you could try using a white noise generator in your bedroom to deaden external noises. You can get a phone app for it to be very simple. YouTube has lots of 24hr sleep sounds "videos".

I wonder how many tush-push defenses we will see with Parsons/Sorrell-Hargrave-Stackhouse-McClellan-LVN fighting back. If Stackhouse improves his anchor a bit, that would be a lot of beef to move.

And then after watching him hit in T-Ball practice, they signed him to a 20-year contract extension that will buy out all of his little league years and 2 years of FA.

I chose who I chose... because there was a better result. 😉 I don't think Manny Parra had this much movement on his stuff either. He had better "stuff" than his results let on, but it wasn't this much movement.

Passing out for dehydration in the spring is a bit "odd", so I'm glad they are being uber-cautious about his health. Hopefully, there isn't anything long term.

Sproat has been an Ashby-like (circa 2021-22) enigma. Totally dominant...until he isn't. Seems like the first time through the lineup has everyone befuddled (well except that first game), but once they get a look at him he is easier to hit. I wonder if he has any "tells" on his pitches that people are picking up on?

Mildly interesting that they released Desmond Ridder instead of Kyle McCord... I figured they saw McCord in the mini-camp and decided to bring in Tyrod as backup QB competition. Releasing Ridder makes it look like Tyrod is a lock and McCord and Kyron Drones as the development QB.

In the long term, run differential is actually pretty predictive of reality. When you see a playoff team with a winning record and a barely positive run differential, it always sniffs out the pretender. Certainly right now, both our RD and record are in the small sample sizes.

The Packers finally get long time target Chase Claypool! Kind of... he is a tryout player at mini-camp this weekend. Pretty lucky miss to have the Bears' second round pick be better then our second round pick.

Out of curiosity, I scanned what FA Edge players were getting this year: Jaelan Phillips - 4years, $120M Trey Hendrickson - 4 years, $112M Odafe Oweh - 4 years, $100M Boye Mafe - 3 years, $60M Kwity Paye - 3 years, $48M (ironically, he had his 5th year option declined) K'Lavon Chaisson - 1 year, $12M Joseph Ossai - 3 year, $36M Arnold Ebiketie - 1 year, $7.3M Bradley Chubb - 3 years, $43.5M Kingsley Enagbare - 1 year, $10M Al-Quadin Muhammad - 1 year, $6M TBH, there are only two players on the list that have a strong history of performance... and Phillips has as many injury problems as LVN. There is a lot of "pay for potential" going on at the edge. Oweh, Mafe, and Paye all look like teams grabbing a player they hope will break out (the Zadarius Smith contract). To me the biggest risk of LVN's one year contract is his injury history.

The Packers had several indicators that they didn't like the depth of this draft - trading up twice, not signing many UDFAs (and specifically lacking at a couple positions). Nussmeier was interesting to me simply because of his pedigree, but I don't recall any of those names being linked to the Packers. Plus, if they hadn't moved up, only a few of the names you listed would've been available at #236 and #255. I'd guess that if they stayed at their spots, they would've picked a couple of the UDFAs they did sign. Also, it is more likely that a kicker provides an impact to the team than any other 7th round pick (not a lock, but likely).
