  1. Microsoft just offered him an 8-year deal with two company options!
  2. Yeah, I mis-remembered Chourio. Maybe of question of whether it is written as an MLB only contract for Platt though. I would imagine it could allow for a split option this year. But it is probably an incentive for the player to make it a MLB only option.
  3. Picking against Duke might've saved my work bracket. Now if AZ beats UCONN in the finals, I'm tied for first place. The BF.net bracket on the other hand... 😠
  4. Does he realize that in the NFL, he is going to have to stay with the same team for 3-4 years?
  5. I've not seen that the contract forces Cooper (or Chourio for that matter) on the 40 man roster. In fact, I'm interested to see the details of Pratt's deal to see when it actually begins... if it is a true extension, it starts in 2027. If Made is signed this fall, he is almost exactly on the same path as Chourio.
  6. Pratt was a surprise to just about everyone. If I compare ceilings and floors of our top 3 prospects (excluding Jett as he is "new" to the org): Cooper - his defense gives him a high floor and his physical attributes give him a decent ceiling, but performance has been a bit limited offensively. Made - Certainly a much higher ceiling. His floor is probably similar, though his D seems to be a touch less. Pena - Higher ceiling offensively than Pratt, but lower floor given his defense and some struggles before he hit AA. I think Made is really they one they would normally target for the Chourio treatment and maybe he will this fall? Or maybe Made passed on it so they turned to Pratt? I can certainly see less bust risk with Pratt over Pena. I like Priester, but I don't see the upside with him. I think he will make a strong #3/#2 level SP and be the workhorse type player, but not quite the TOR SP you would generally target to tie up.
  7. It is a very interesting trend that the Brewers are setting (albeit 2 data points). But wrapping up their high-end minor leaguers for 10 years prior to them hitting the MLB level is a unique approach. Other teams have done it before, but I don't recall any team doing it twice so quickly. I conjectured on our next extensions in my blog post (trying something different instead of a forum post). But I was more focused on Made than Pratt. I wonder if they tried Made and he wasn't interested. Or if this might come for Made this fall?
  8. Maybe that is the "problem"? He has poor barrel and exit velocity numbers. Maybe he has to swing a bit harder and make less weak contact. Be ok with striking out a bit more to make your contact do more.
  9. Given that it is an "extension", I'm wondering if this starts in 2027?
  10. Unless we trade him, Turang will still be under club control in 2028...
  11. If Stackhouse is able to progress like TJ Slaton, he should be able to positively contribute this year at NT. Slaton went: Rookie: Pushed around a lot 2nd: Not quite a starting caliber, but you could see progress. Better at the end of the year than beginning. 3rd: Starting every game with positive impact 4th: Solid Starter. Stackhouse last year reminded me of Slaton's rookie year - often pushed around with poor technique. Now a year in, one offseason to work on his body and another TC to work on technique, he could be a solid backup or rotation NT.
  12. You don't think Rollins can do that? Or KPJ? I get where Giannis didn't trust them initially and just took over... but seems like Rollins has grown into a player to trust. KPJ and Giannis always seemed to work well together, too.
  13. I would have very little interest in Wilson at $12-15M. He made less than $11M last year for NYG when he was brought in to start. Maybe in the $5 or 6M range... But I doubt Gute does that. You'll see the two we have compete with a late round draft pick and/or UDFA. Then late in TC, if those don't work, see who is available.
  14. The offseason has to start with firing Doc Rivers. Then go hire a coach without Giannis on the interview panel. I like Darvin Ham, but wonder if he can change courses from where Doc is now? What I see on the court is a bunch of people that don't play together. Several people where their strengths aren't being utilized (Turner). Someone has to be able to stand up the Giannis and stop the hero ball... they need to get back to team ball. They need a coach to do what Phil Jackson did for the Bulls.
  15. And the answer was... Cooper Pratt! 8 years, $51M with two club option years. Very interesting... seems like this will lock him into the MLB club next year like it did Chourio.
  16. My first impression was actually positive, but the more I looked, the less I liked it. Especially seeing the orange lettering on the back. Blue+Orange= U of ILL or Bears colors. No thanks. Wisco didn't bug me, but the color fade around the edge of the cream lettering (blue to orange to green) adds a harshness to the color palate. Clearly, this is to help you know how to put the jersey on... Forward should face... forward.
  17. I can see them trading off Wicks, but they won't get much more than a 7th for him. No one is giving us a 2nd and 4th for Reed and Wicks (both the original draft round) when they have 1 year left. Personally, I hope they sign Reed and Watson to second contracts. I think Reed is a bit underrated as a WR. Watson, Reed, and Golden would be a great trio. Even having Wicks for 1 year as the 4th would make a great WR room (assuming everyone can stay healthy...which is a big assumption).
  18. Yes, but now how will Frank Drebin delay the game so he can find the assassin and save the Queen?
  19. And here we are...loaded with lefties in the BP. 😏
  20. I read that this morning and thought "wow" that is a Packer draft pick. We have a type; young (21), tall and athletic.
  21. Predicting the season with a brand-new pair of blue-and-gold colored glasses! DH: Yelich is now over a year removed from surgery puts up a nice 140 OPS+ and 4 WAR season C: Contereras bounces back from finger injury and makes top 5 MVP. Sanchez rarely sees the field because of William, so no big deal either way. Quero comes up in Sept. 1B: No, really... the improvements are legit. Bauers and Vaughn pair up to provide 5 WAR combined (with some overlap with Bauers getting a dozen games in LF). 2B: Turang gets back to GG territory, All-Star game and 850 OPS with 25 HR. SS: Ortiz bounces back to a solid 720 OPS and solid D. Alternative outcome: Pratt is promoted mid-season and never lets go - becomes the SS we hoped Ortiz could be. 3B: The 2024 version of Renigfo shows up. Solid 115 OPS+. Alternative outcome: See Pratt again. LF: Chourio makes the All-Star game with his first 30/30 season. CF: Mitchell stays healthy to play in 100 games. Lockridge looks like more than just a defensive player. The platoon manages 700 OPS with solid D. Chourio plays CF for a dozen games or so. Alternative: Jett takes over at the All-Star break and approaches 800 OPS with solid D. RF: Solid Frelick returns with a 300 BA with 15 HR and 30 doubles. Finals for the GG again. SP: Misiorowski makes the All-Star game again - earns it this time. Woody returns to health and pitches like mid-season 2025. Not his top, but plenty good. Sproat and Harrison establish themselves as starters and continue to elevate as the season progresses (one outperforms Peralta). Priester comes back like nothing happens. Top 10 rotation in MLB. RP: Patrick gets bumped but becomes very valuable out of the pen. Uribe and Megill are dynamic out of the pen. Add in Zerpa and Keonig and it becomes really hard for anyone to overcome a Brewer lead. Ashby, Hall, and Anderson keep us in games. #1 BP in the league. Murphy is manager of the year again because we win the WS!
  22. I'm in on 90 wins and our firs WS victory. Team starts slow and comes on strong at the end. Contreras bounces back after his finger heals with a top5 MVP vote. Chourio makes the first of many all-star appearances and Turang gets back in the GG game.
  23. If you trade away young talent, you are going give away good players. But in the history of our trades, we have sent away very little valuable MLB talent for the number of trades total. The Yelich trade ended up being grand larceny. The ones that I can think of that were more than 1-2 WAR level players would be LoCain (Grienke) and Michael Brantley (Sabathia). And both of those trades worked out pretty well for the Brewers too. Odorizzi went in the Grienke trade and had a few 3WAR years, but was more often sub-1.0 (11 years, 13.6 WAR). Personally, I'm not worried about Hunt.
  24. Never forget. 😞
