  1. Do you rate the players in general or for how they would fit with the Packers specifically?
  2. Good stuff as always @LouisEly. Washington is my preferred TE. Clearly will block now... certainly has the physical capabilities to grow as a receiver. I do think they will draft a QB regardless of Rodger's situation. No way is he going to back up Love and I can't see the coaching staff sitting Love now. Trade or retirement at this point.
  3. Yeah, you can really only have hopes for one of the three. And I'm kind of hoping the lower payroll this year is a precursor to saving $$ for a bigger deal coming. Burnes is most likely gone. Big Woo is probably the easiest to retain. But Adames is a bit of the heart and soul the the team. Hard choices.
  4. Blocking a prospect should never, ever be a reason to not extend an MLB player. If you can get a player at a good deal and you end up with another player pushing him out... trades can and do happen. Value is value.
  5. Who else would be a legitimate extension candidate (beyond the big 3)?
  6. I can't see Gute delaying compensation until 2025. He isn't on the "hot seat" quite yet, but that could change quickly. I'll say between rounds 1 and 2. 2nd rounder this year is the initial return.
  7. Since we are getting down the last days before the draft, I think we will finally see the trade (of some sort) come to fruition. When do you think it will happen?
  8. Miami looked like they've been playing all week and we looked rusty. I think we could take the series w/o Giannis, but I hope we don't have to. Looked like G was holding his upper buttock..which is probably more like a bad bruise rather than something with his spine/tailbone - which would be more serious.
  9. I was watching the Bucks with Brewers on gameday... after Devon put 2 on, I thought about turning on the live-stream, but figured it would be less stressful not watching it. 😂
  10. https://badgernotes.com/wisconsin-mens-basketball-lands-commitment-from-st-johns-transfer-aj-storr/ One data point on Gard as a recruiter...
  11. If you know someone personally on the committee, I think you could cautiously ask if there was something you could do to improve your chances on the next job. Of course, asking a friend that question might put them in an uncomfortable situation also... If you didn't know the person, I wouldn't even try. I'm coached to not give out that information simply for legal reasons. The times I've been declined for a job, I've been given very weak or sanitized reasons.
  12. https://www.mockdraftable.com/player/jaxon-smith-njigba One of JSN's comparables is Greg Jennings. Thankfully they don't have measurables for personality...
  13. Clearly there is much more to any player than the athletic measurements. DA's footwork was often lauded as he could pretty much create separation right at the LOS. So I was curious what DA's measurements were and I found this web site that really does a nice job comparing each metric by percentiles to all players in that position. DA's breakdown looks like: Vertical Jump (89%), Weight (75%), 3 Cone (74%), Arm Length (69%), 10yd split (68%), and Broad jump (68%) were all the physical measurements that were above average. The others - 40 yd dash, hand size, height, 20yd shuttle, were all below average. Now... a one point sample size doesn't mean much. And his WR comparisons are not inspiring either. But I think it is clear how his physical measurements contributed to the type of player he was: Vertical Jump contributed to his TD and contested catch capabilities. 3-cone and 10yd splits (with his footwork) made him tough to cover in routes. 40yd dash kept him from being much of a deep threat.
  14. Obligatory joke for this auspicious occasion
  15. And since Ruiz was dealt, I guess it was pretty likely. 😂 But Wiemer is eating Taylors lunch right now. Right handed, plays a good CF (much better than I expected). So unless Wiemer tanks, I think TT might be a trade chip this year. TT enters arby next year and while he is a nice player... I doubt we offer him arbitration with so many young OFers coming. Plus some people think Chourio (also plays CF and is right handed) could be up this year too. I isn't a stretch that next year's OF is Yeli, Chourio, Mitchell, Weimer, and Frelick. Even if Yeli goes to DH, it is hard to see room for TT on an arby contract as the 5th OFer.
  16. The 3 cone is my favorite *single* athletic measurement for a WR. Obviously, you look at the whole package, but 3 cone is the first one I look at. They have to turn sometime. Hard to tell where they are drafted based on numbers because you don't know the competition either. But if they are 2-3 rounds separated,,, we can draft both right? 🙂
  17. So you think you can take Embid on? 😉
  18. After the 3rd time the Ump is ejected? Or swapped out with someone else? That would keep them a bit more honest. Ump last night would've been gone by the 2nd inning.
  19. Voit seems to be the most "volatile" of our bubble players. His career line has been very inconsistent while rarely playing a full season. He was a nice low-risk grab late in the season, but he is going to need to start hitting soon if he wants to stick. I fully agree the rookies will struggle. But I also think all three have higher ceilings than Taylor or Urias and should get the priority until there is a weakness exploited. And you know that neither TT nor Urias will remain "glued" to the bench...and to be fair, they shouldn't. They are good enough players in the MLB to be used in the right spots.
  20. Early in the season, I'd suspect part of moving people around is to see where they fit best. And giving people enough of a chance hitting to see what they are capable of this year. We have both Urias and Taylor out right now... both are slightly above average hitters (104-112 OPS+ range the last two years). The first one back, probably pushed Owen Miller off the roster: TT to the OF rotation with Mitchell and Wiemer and BA to 3rd Urias to 2B/3B rotation with Truang/BA and BA rotating in the OF with Mitchell and Wiemer) When both are back, Voit is the most likely candidate (at least for now). Wiemer could be sent down, but simply is playing too well. And we start to have a logjam for playing time. Mitchell, Wiemer, BA, and Turang are all hitting/fielding well enough to be deserve a starting position. I don't have an issue with TT being a backup OF, but Urias has been good enough historically to start too. I have to imagine that Taylor is a prime trade candidate right now... we simply have too many people better than he is at playing CF (with Frelick and Chourio waiting in the wings) to need him.
  21. This is something you won't see on other boards.... Props to being real people in a community and not just anonymous internet posters.
  22. Hard to bat when you can't move your neck...
  23. And only a perfect (bullet of a) throw gets him. Anything less and he is safe.
  24. I've said it before... it was simpler when the batter held up his hand to get ready in the box. Anytime you give the Ump a chance to make a subjective call, he will get it wrong eventually.
  25. To be clear... I don't claim to be accurate! 😄
