  1. Cravy is probably in the same boat as Thornburg in being a 6th starter type potential. Thornburg did better in the low minors and Cravy picked up later in the high minors, but their numbers are very similar.
  2. Oh, I thought I had read he was drafted at 2B, but moved to OF in his first season. But I'm relying on my memory, so its only 50/50, but only a 10% chance of that.
  3. Wait until next year!
  4. Wow. Could've been inducted in the hall for his wit and sayings alone.
  5. orlando arcia is eligible for the rule 5 draft this year. Sorry, that is correct. So I'm assuming its to prevent burning an option?
  6. Doesn't seem to bother Front Row Amy...
  7. They're apparently sticking with Malik Collymore as an outfielder. Sort of disappointing. As opposed to what position? Didn't he already fail at 2B and moved to OF?
  8. My Dad's Milwaukee Brewers made it to the World Series... well he did say that he was very involved in the gomez trade, which the early returns is not good for Houston. He probably put that trade on his resume. See what I did for you? Regarding the "paid his dues" discussion, I think one major challenge for him will be Matt Garza coming back to the team next year (unless traded). You have a Type A personality pitcher that is older than the GM and played the game at the MLB level. Stearns is going to need to be very savvy to manage situations like that.
  9. [sarcasm]Thanks for making it a certainty! [/sarcasm]
  10. Its hard to say if its better for him mentally to jump back in now or wait until February. Getting him back out there when he isn't 100% can have some back side effects too.
  11. Sounds very much like a "thank you" for their work at the AA championships. Too bad Maverick and Arcia aren't joining because they have another year before needing to be on the 40 man. I wonder if you can have them simply join the team without suiting up?
  12. Well, crud... So close and yet so far. Here's to a future Twins-Brewers World Series where we get redemption!
  13. There are a couple unemployed IT guys that are available to build it up from hack...er, uh scratch.
  14. There is no reason to trade Khris Davis. Nor is there a reason NOT to trade him. He is not a franchise fixture, but is a valuable player. Its a nice position to be in. The Brewers could easily use the Davis/Santana/Braun OF all of next year. After 2016, there might be some push to improve Defense and have Maverick up at the MLB level. The Brewers are heavy in OF, #3 SPs, and SS. They are weak at 3B, 1B, and #1 SP material (maybe C depth too). As the offseason goes, our GM will start making plans to fill those gaps. If we can fill a need at one of those positions and use Khrush to do it, great. I'm all for it. But there is no need or urgency to get rid of him.
  15. Or they could be hiring someone else... -------------------------------- Locked in favor of this topic: David Stearns to be named Milwaukee's new GM Feel free to continue any previous discussion over there.
  16. Once the copycats all are doing the same thing, the old school wisdom will be back in vogue. No, it will be "retro"!
  17. Could be a billion things: - There could be other candidates they want to explore - He might have other options he wants to explore - They might be working out the contract or terms - He might have tested positive for PEDs on his urine test...
  18. I think guys learning how to play hard to the end, understand what it takes to win late in the season, knowing no matter what management is going to expect you to win every day has more impact on the group of players we can expect to be here to help turn this thing around as fast as possible. Most of our future hope in the next 5 years is doing that at AA. I think most people have extolled the virtues of their said (win or not to win, that is the question) over the last 6 pages. I'm not sure it needs to be rehashed anymore (This statement in general, not at Thurston, since I quoted his last post).
  19. I was referring to the desire to beat the Cardinals and we lose two straight close games. Yet, we suddenly in late August turn into a "winning machine" (yes, a bit exaggerated) with everyone else when losing would actually help.
  20. Evidently the key to having the Brewers lose is to want them to win... and vice versa. [sarcasm]So everyone please want them to lose every game next season.[/sarcasm]
  21. I'm thinking Arcia might be getting to "Igniter v2.0" territory. 300+ ave all year, white hot when the bright lights go on in the playoffs. I said it once and I'll say it again. They big steps of our MiLB players have been great. But seeing them step up and play like this when the pressure gets higher and the competition gets harder is AWESOME!
  22. If 4 said Lopez, and a handful of others got a 3, then... eh. It might have just come down to which night certain opposing coaches saw certain players. And we don't know which one it is. Good point. I guess it didn't really sink in as a coaches rating either. Coaches aren't really scouting the other teams.
  23. Wasn't Lopez' curveball rated the best in the Southern League? I know most scouts still rate him in the middle rotation range, but its hard not to get excited for his progress this year. We waited and waited for his "raw stuff" to show up as "pitching stuff". Maybe its eternal optimism, but I would guess that most of us hold out the hope that somewhere between Lopez, Wagner, Williams (Devon or Taylor), Hader, Houser, Sneed, or Pounce there is someone that will break through the #3 SP ceiling most scouts have tabbed them with.
  24. I would think so. Glad to see them reset the pitching rotation too. Send in the studs!
  25. Sorry, but not really. I don't watch anyone but the Brewers, so I'm normally behind until they become really big names. Thanks for the commentary on their draft.
