  1. I'm guessing Peralta at #1
  2. They're pretty set at 1B, too, imo -- Gamel*, Halton, Morris, Kh. Davis (if he's moved there). Plus Codie Hawn. Before I got down to Homer's post, I was thinking about Kh. Davis at 1B, but I'd prefer he stay in LF for now and learn 1B later if necessary (yeah, I know 1B defense isn't simple, but his defense in LF might be better than Braun's...)
  3. I was tempted to put that in blue, as I was referring to past discussions of BF.net-ers wanting Farris and Gennett to play some at SS. I have no way to gauge a minor leaguer's defensive capabilities myself, so I'm not necessarily advocating Gennett to SS.
  4. His offensive numbers don't suggest extreme incompetence Whoa! Don't heap too much praise on the guy... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  5. The pitching machine will be throwing out tonight's opening pitch...
  6. and for him to walk up to his first AB to "Been Caught Stealing" by Jane's Addiction. or the theme music to "Cops"...
  7. which means double doubleheaders on May 18th-19th. OUCH! I would guess there will be some roster shuffling to handle those two days...
  8. Now, can we get Gennett to get a few starts at SS? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  9. Since you still need a reason for bereavement (which thankfully doesn't happen often), I doubt it will be abused. When SPs go on the list for having to flush the family goldfish... well... So why didn't they just activate Hawkins? He is in Philly now. Or is there another move on the way?
  10. Ahh... I knew there was a lot of back-and-forth (I was pro-Dickerson myself) between a lot of people... I knew there was some playful banter, just mis-read the amount of sarcasm. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  11. Like Chris Dickerson! I still have no problem with saying the Dickerson was our best 4th OF (over Kotsay, Reed, and Boggs) and possibly our best CFer (all prior to Mr. Plush of course). I don't know enough about McLouth to compare the two. But what I don't get is the hate for him... TLB, why does he keep coming up?
  12. There is no way Betancourt's option is picked up. Agreed. There should be plenty of SS that we can find next year for less than $4M that will be an upgrade from Yuni. If he can hit As long as he continues like he has, he hits enough for the SS position. It will be nice to see what he brings for defense... But here is a question: How big of a sample do we need to "prove" he can or can't play SS? And will 2 games a week be enough to reach that amount?
  13. humorous mustache. Don't diss the 'stache dude! Sounds like jealousy to me. (Us 'stache wearers stick together) http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  14. I'm definitely concerned mainly because of him only having one good year Well, one for one isn't bad, though... I was concerned about Axford in ST because wildness is his main problem. Once he harnesses that, everything seems to fall in place for him. Right now, his BB/9 is double that of last year (4.2 vs. 8.5). I don't think he will go Turnbow on us. He is just having a more difficult time of dialing it in this year...
  15. I am sure if it was all Loonies it would be a pretty big stack. Fixed!
  16. Well now I feel bad. I thought that was part of their actual uniforms. I did too when I first saw it. I was trying to figure out how that fit in with chasing storms...
  17. Cool. Thanks for the update. Most of my MiLB exposure is limited to internet stats and you guys! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  18. I'm in agreement about Almonte, Kotsay and Nieves on the MLB roster, but I'm not positive that Boggs is really the answer. The roles could easily be reversed with Boggs hitting .100 in the MLB and Almonte over .300 at AAA. He is probably an improvement, but I doubt he is the answer...
  19. I know sometimes love is blind, but care to elaborate? I wasn't expecting him and his numbers (other than Ks) were ok, but only < 5IP this year... Just curious what you are seeing that I'm missing...
  20. Although there are no specific stats that point to this season being worse than usual for him Can we at least wait until the sky is actually falling then?
  21. Green can play second and third and if Farris could cover short then I would be happy with those two as the backups next season. Yeah, that is what I meant. I explained it poorly...
  22. Mountain Lion, Cougar, poTAAto poTAHto http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Well, that explains it at least. Money (not Don) drove the decision.
  23. When JJ was here, the knock on him was sure-handed, but limited range. Then with Escobar, it was great range, but didn't always make the easy play. Now Yuni. I'd guess when its all said and done, that Yuni and Escobar will end up with similar WAR numbers. Not that we couldn't use an upgrade at SS, but showing that we didn't downgrade SS (at least for this year) while improving pitching.
  24. How can the Nashville Sounds not have Elvis as their mascot? Yeah, OK, that is Memphis, but close enough. That would make more sense than a Lion... especially with a musically themed team. But I'd imagine that would give them all kinds of neat promotional ideas: - Sideburn night - Blue Suede shoe night - Hunka-Hunka- burnin' Jalapeno Poppers in the concession stand Not to mention all kinds of options for 7th inning stretch music.
  25. Don't worry. Matt Wise is gone. He can't injure anyone going for the iceberg... ...lettuce. Salad tongs joke. You know it. GROAN!!!! Sad thing is that I got the joke before reading the second line... The real question is: should Gomez bat ninth? Isn't he perfect for that role? Well, when Gallardo is pitching thats a gimmie. Since that even fits conventional wisdom of batting your worse hitters last...
