  1. Those Favre playoff losses (ALL AT DALLAS) are scars that are still healing...
  2. It's been a very long time since we invested at safety, but using D-POTM seems like an odd metric to use. I mean, would you prefer to have Amos or Bigby (at their peak Packer days) back there at safety?
  3. I didn't want this to get hidden in the Hook thread, so I split it out.
  4. Yeah, I know. I'm known as someone who intentionally takes things the wrong way to make it funny. 😉
  5. I have to admit that trading Giannis has crossed my mind unfortunately. It would be horrible, but it is hard to see a path to another championship with the current team. I actually think Horst has done a good job... sort of. He keeps finding creative ways to bring talent to the team and being competitive. He was in a tough spot by trying to keep the team together to win again (and derailed by injuries). Then pushed by Giannis (so it seems) to hire and/or keep certain players. The team trend has been downward the last few years, but he has been creative in slowing the decent.
  6. Not sure how old you are, but I respected Tom Landry a lot.
  7. Certainly fair to question him for things that he is responsible for. I just thought saying that two young kickers that struggled under him and succeeded elsewhere seemed a rather circumstantial argument. I like how you state that Chicago is a rest week. 😂 But I agree with Detroit... if you can play, you should play.
  8. Really interesting that they didn't have this play on the playbook this week yet recognized that the Jags' defense was susceptible and ran it without practicing it. Overall, Malik continues to look like a great trade. Just very surprising how comfortable he looks and easily he makes plays. Why did we pay Love anyway!?!?! Jacobs, Kraft, Doubs, Cooper, Wilson, McKinney were all great in that game. Morgan was uneventful (good for OL) at RG in limited snaps. Bullard and DL played pretty poorly. Walker, Jenkins, Myer struggled some. Reed disappeared for a second straight game, until that final big play. Each week, Bullard continues to look more and more like a liability. Perhaps it was the in-game move from slot to safety that didn't help him, but he was burnt early and often.
  9. Totally disagree saying that Locke wasn't the problem... Not the only problem, but he was clearly the biggest problem. He was inaccurate, staring down WRs, throwing early (making accuracy worse), and the pick-6 was the main game changer. He was decent the first half (when his WRs are having issues), but it was mostly him the second half. Now, I'm not ready to totally dump the guy as (despite the transfer portal) you still do need to let guys develop and grow. But he was clearly our biggest issue in the game yesterday.
  10. It is nice that (so far), we've been able to talk about past kicking and not the present... Pretty amazing that you get signed to a team and your first two games comes down to game winning FGs... Imagine how bad it could've been...
  11. So does that mean Rich did nothing that set them on the path for success? Or that does it mean it takes more time to develop kicking that teams are willing to endure?
  12. Favorite Team = Packers 2nd Fav: Whomever is playing the Vikings 3rd Fav: Whomever is playing the Bears 4th Fav: Whomever is playing the Cowboys. #JerryJonesEffect
  13. Hopefully Carlson and Narveson will both be good NFL kickers one day. I tend to think Narv has a better chance as success as his misses seemed very consistent (and thus fixable). Carlson's makes even seemed to be marginal, so I think he might struggle more to become consistent...
  14. They used to do that more, but the NBA cracked down on star players sitting in certain games. We can still do it of course, but it has to be more planned on when and why.
  15. I got you addicted... Sorry, not sorry. 😂
  16. I suppose the Army/Navy recruiting targets are much less impacted by the NIL money that is impacting all the rest of the schools. These guys are out there to be in the military and... oh, lets play football too.
  17. Coach, waterboy, Giannis valet... let him travel with the team... just not suit up and take $2M hit on the salary cap for cheerleading.
  18. Certainly any defensive metric is going to be somewhat subjective... what is a "QB Hurry? If I make a great move to get into position to make a tackle, but miss the tackle do I get graded worse than the player that made a bad read and was totally out of position? But at least they give some base to compare (assuming some error in the numbers). And both PFF and DVOA (I didn't think about that one) seem to align decently with the eyeball test. Nixon and Valentine playing similar coverage, but Nixon is better at run support? Yeah, I can see that. Williams playing very high level overall? Certainly! Bullard playing solid, but not great? That is what I see. Valentine was slowly taking over Stoke's snaps and these numbers support that. So you had Alexander-McKinney-Bullard-Nixon-Valentine as your nickel DBs. Williams forces his way in, pushing you to Alexander-McKinney-Williams-Bullard-Nixon. Bullard-Nixon vs Nixon-Valentine is pretty even (little better run support, little worse coverage), but getting Williams in there makes a huge improvement. Good problems to have.
  19. Yeah, I saw that and pointed it out to my wife. I struggled to even remember when one of them was top 25, let alone both (which now I know is impossible for me to remember).
  20. Look at nate82's quote below and replace Beauchamp with Thanasis... He has always only been a "maintain morale" role and never a player. Granted, he might be more valuable than Bronny... Thanasis had a pretty serious injury (knee??) late in the season. I was hoping that was enough to keep him off the roster now... just make him a coach already.
  21. Then the Chicago bears would've beaten the Eagles in 2018... Down by one point, the double doink for the win! 😂
  22. I'm pretty sure Stokes was getting mediocre (at best) grades; not horrid, but not good either. Valentine was starting to out play him when he got hurt... then the Williams-Bullard-Nixon combo has played really well. Now it will be hard to fight his way back in. Nixon won't be a shut-down CB on the outside, but he has been surprisingly solid out there. I'm curious if anyone can access PFF grades to compare the three CBs (and Jaire for all 4)?
  23. I'm really surprised he didn't get one for taunting. The refs really had a lot of patience with him... probably too much.
  24. These AI generated Post Game interviews are pretty hilarious (and a touch scary given what it could be used for...)
