  1. So you're saying Goody's my be facing a 50 game suspension?
  2. I don't mean to split hairs, but isn't Goody's a form of aspirin?
  3. I work at the VA where I know people park during the regular season. I spoke with the VA cops last night and they will be out in force ticketing anyone who is not an employee. He said they let it go for the most part during the regular season but won't be this weekend.
  4. I have a general parking pass available for tomorrow. I'm not sure what "face" value of it is as I bought it with the playoff strip. I'll be working at the VA tonight and I'll have it with me. Or it's available for pickup tomorrow morning. Is $20 about right? I think they sell at the gate for $25.
  5. I was looking through other threads and couldn't find a good place for this. Not sure if it's worthy of a new topic but.. What time do the parking lots open? What time do the gates open? What ways are people taking to get there? What are your plans before and after the game? I thought it might be good to have a place to discuss all things going on before and after the game.
  6. For those who have a Kohl's charge card, you can get 30% off now with the code SAVING30 through 10/5. Shipping is free with orders over $50 (after the discount).
  7. I have 2 tickets to today's game in the club section. I can't use them and the person who was going to take them just backed out on me. Therefore, I'm offering them up to the first taker. Must pick up in New Berlin. I'm not requiring any money but any donation would be apprieciated. I paid $56 for them. I just don't want to waste them. Call or text 414-737-4612
  8. I find the discussion on streaks particularly interesting. Yes, players go through phases where they swing the bat particularly well and hence produce many hits. At the same time, I think we've all seen periods of time where someone was swinging the bat well and in a SLUMP. And vice versa. I do have some major league experience as I was called up recently in MLB the Show so I thought I'd share that direct knowledge. As far as "stat geeks" go, there are definately those that go over the top and muddle a good conversation. But I've been reading this board for years (though I don't post much) and I've learned more about the game of baseball reading some of these spirited discussions than I could ever explain. Some threads become unreadable to me because of the (in my opinion) overkill on stats. So...I don't read them. Other conversations on this board seemingly meander meaninglessly until they can be framed with some numbers that add base and substence to the argument. The reason that I don't post much is that I don't feel I often have much to add to good discussions as I'm one of the people who follow every game either on TV or the radio. I have a general feeling of who's doing what based on what I see and hear every day. I dig into the numbers from time to time but I'm the kind of fan who likes going to games, complaining about the manager and overreacting to winning streaks. So that's fine for me. But to say stat guys are pretentious or ruining sports is just ignorant. EVERYONE thinks they're opinion is right...I hope. The dichotomy in baseball is why I love it. I started taking my significant other this year who never watched baseball in her life. By July, when a certain SS would come up, she would mutter "He's not very good, is he?" And when Braun came up..."He takes too long to hit but he's pretty good."
  9. As the discussion went on in this thread, the Cards lost an absolute heartbreaker today. After all those come from behind wins, they choke up 6 in the ninth. Someone said this but it amazes me how you can follow this for 6 months over 162 games and it comes down to a few days in September. I imagine I'm not the only one who feels a lot better with this thing at 2 rather than 3 going into the weekend. They've been playing well at home all year. I see a 5-1 finish with Braun taking the batting title and MVP and playing the Braves in a home series to open the NLDS.
  10. I'll be there Friday, Saturday and Monday. I had to give up my Sunday tickets for work. So PLEASE clinch on Friday or Saturday!!!
  11. THEY'RE HERE!!! THEY'RE HERE!!!! And they're BEAUTIFUL!!!! I hope I can use more than 2 this time...
  12. I understand the frustration and panic but it amazes me how quickly things can change in a desperate fan's mind (because I'm one of them). In the middle of the hot streak, I kept telling myself not to get too excited. That they would lose 5-6 in a row because that's just what happens in baseball and that I couldn't panic when that happened. They're 24 games over and have won 2 of their last 3 despite awful offense. They still hold a 5.5 game lead with 12 to play. I just don't think the offense will continue to be as bad as it's been. I HAVE to believe it CAN'T. I'm a little worried about their ability to beat a quality team in the playoffs because they have glaring defensive shortcomings. But over the years, baseball has shown us that you just need a couple of guys to get hot at the right time to carry you through a few weeks (see August). I'd be lying if I said I wasn't getting ever so slightly worried but this has been a great year and I have to believe they'll finish strong.
  13. My anxiety is climbing. Not neceesarily for the divisional race as I'm still confident they'll balance out and not suck this bad the rest of the way. My anxiety is about this team playing well enough in the post season to win a series.
  14. Got mine. Like everyone else, I had some sticker shock. Had to explain at length to the better half that it's highly unlikely to use all the tickets. We'll see how it goes... Pretty happy with the location. In 324 for a 20 pack and they put me in 312. In 08 I was in the 18thish row of 407. I spent an hour last night looking at the schedule and comparing it to my work schedule for the month of October. Then I couldn't sleep... I think I need to settle down a little. They've got a long way to go and a playoff bid isn't guaranteed. St. Louis still makes me nervous. The 07 Mets loom in my frenzied brain.
  15. I'm in line with the majority of the forum on the topic of TL and the rest of the cards so I won't add anything to that. I have to say, thought, that I love the tension building. I'm not in favor of brawls and bean wars but the atmosphere for the next 10 games with these guys is going to be awesome. I can't see the benches not clearing at some point. I love nothing more than a bunch of grown men standing around doing the school yard "hold me back" act. And as one of the idiots in the stands, I'll be going crazy. I just want to see Milwaukee move on and "retaliate" by winning. Let TR get some of his players ejected and suspended.
  16. I thought with the addition of Krod that we would never have to see Loe in a high leverage situation again. But RR finds a way to throw him in there with the first lead late after the break. With a predictable result. My only theory is that when RR calls the bullpen, he says "Hello". Not used to such pleasantries, the bullpen coach simply hangs up only having heard the "Loe" part. Embarrassed, noone does anything to correct it.
  17. I have 2 tickets to Sunday's game on the aisle in section 324. I can't go and don't have time to trade them in. Face is $40 but I'm only looking to get my money back. I'll throw in a couple of passes to the NYCE stadium club. I live in New Berlin, work at the VA (near the stadium) and will be at Saturday's game.
  18. They played that out...it's not like they called it a home run and then changed their minds. How did they take that run off the board????
  19. I worked til 430am, get up at 930 to buy some tickets and I get this....I can't believe I still have a monitor.
  20. All gone.
  21. The 4 in 420 are spoken for. So I have the 2 in 410 or I could probably do 4 in 409 if you need 4.
  22. Reply sent.
  23. I have a total of 6 extra tickets to Sunday's game. 4 in a block and 2 in a block. The 4 are in Section 420 and the 2 are in section 410. You pay what I paid. PM me. Will consider trade offers as well. They're e-tickets so I can fire them out in an email or meet you there--whichever you prefer. Edit: For anyone worried about my low post count, I changed my name from Hall4President. I've given away Club level tickets in the past. Just don't want anyone to think I'm sketchy...
  24. I was 4 the last time this team made the playoffs. I was there for the last game of the season last year and watched the Packer game at the bar in the Club. I have tickets and am going to the most important game this team has played in my memory. I'm neither excited nor nervous. I'm looking forward to going to a game that will carry importance and drama that I have never seen before. I cannot remember what happened 161 times before today. I'm not worried about the lineup. I just wanna win, baby.
