  1. I'm really trying hard not to panic and luckily the NFL has distracted me some. But man, this engine won't start and it's getting really, really serious now. I know they got it in them, I'm just waiting for everyone to come together and click and explode. Nervous but still optimistic. C'mon, you gotta believe! I can't watch a team I don't believe in and I've believed in these guys all year. No point in quitting now. Heart will be broken either way so I might as well believe and hope for the best as it's the only worthwhile pursuit at this point in the season, with everything invested as is.
  2. Cameron has had a great year at the plate. His. 842 OPS is a career best and very good not only for a CF but for a MLB player. I would agree that I'm surprised at how well Hardy, Braun, Fielder, Hart and Cameron have been able to support this club. But the starting pitching deserves credit too as it has been very good most of the year.
  3. It makes sense, they'll be the big story. They'll get praise for getting Wolfe when everyone said they were out, blah blah blah. Same old Brewers...
  4. I really don't understand why anyone thinks this team isn't going to be awesome the next few years. They were really good before the acquired CC. Sheets might be back and if he isn't, it's 1 guy, albiet a big guy. But this team was doing fine without YoGa so that more or less makes up for it. This team has a lot of young talent that is going to be coming up in the coming years... And fire Doug Melvin? Are you serious? Did you see how nicely he signed Ryan Braun? He built this team and appointed the excellent office staff they have.
  5. I'm sure a lot of people won't show up. I'll still go to a bunch of games because I like watching baseball, getting some beers and eating some peanuts. I'm not going to get all worked up about anything win or lose. IT's a game, have fun with it. Of course I want them to win but if they lose, nothing you can do about it. I won't demand changes because the team has gotten better every year. Irrational, knee jerk reactions are not what I want. I want analysis and resolution. This group of people in this organization have taken a team that was the joke of all of sports for years and made them into a competitive, young, exciting team that we can be proud of and expect to compete. If they win 91 games and miss the playoffs, it's hard to fire people IMO. fire people for the sake of it? This is what people want? At the very most I would dump Ned and hire Frank Krembles. These guys (and the guys we're going to bringing up) have excelled under him for years. Also, Brewer fans, this will not be their best year over the next 5. With the young talent they have coming up and the guys they can keep for some time, this organization is prime for years. They will be a better team in 2 or 3 years.
  6. Not playing their best ball but it's hardly a collapse. They'll put it together like they have all year and rip something off this year. Yeah, I'm getting a little nervous but I have faith they're just playing bad right now for a little bit and will get it together. In some ways I feel like it is happening as planned and that's stumbling in the front end of this month and then getting hot again soon and going into the playoffs and then world domination.
  7. Tell ya what, lets get this losing out of the way right now and go into the playoffs streaking.
  8. Indeed it was if I recall. They weren't using Klements back then either. Klements is pretty garbage sausage IMO. I believe Johnsinville had the contract back then or maybe Usingers at one time. But the brats were bigger and juicer back in the day. I also remember everything came in a wax cup.
  9. If you think you could siphon revenues from the Yankees, you're crazy. The Yankees are far bigger than NYC. Put every team in the NYC area and you'll have just as many Yankee fans. They are a legendary team with a history of excellence and millions of people everywhere love this. The Yankees are bigger than baseball in many ways and no team in that area will ever overtake this. Love 'em or hate 'em, they are what they are. And millions of people that will never set foot in the great city of New York (best city in the world IMO. I'd rather be nowhere else.) love this organization for what it represents: History, excellence and tradition.
  10. I disagree that the food is bland. Sounds like cheapies and sour grapes. They provide plenty of options and plenty of condiments. Kraut, onions, relish and stadium sauce as well as brown mustard. The Chorizo's in a tortilla are kinda neat and theres all types of different foods all over form Chinese to veggie dogs to whatever. I've been to a lot of ballparks and Miller Park clearly has some of the best stadium food. And it isn't even close by most standards. Tell ya what, get a polish and have the guy dip it in his hot stadium sauce and cover it in grilled onions and kraut (most stands have this on request, look for it). That's an amazing sandwich and NOT bland by any stretch. Spend a buck when you go out there and have a good time.
  11. This is the absolute truth. People don't always realize this because he's a SS and not a fatso, but the guy is so slow. He might have decent side-to-side movement, but his forward movement is just terrible. I was at the game Monday and he hit a triple and watching him run the bases was hilarious. He has no acceleration and his top speed is laughable. Especially when watching Reyes, lol. Hardy wasn't dogging anything. The guy is really that slow. We always refer to him as "wheels", sarcastically of course. (no, we're not trying to be too witty here rofl)
  12. Stealing is the illegal taking of another person's property without that person's freely-given consent. He isn't stealing anything. Is he ripping them off? Yeah. But stealing? Hardly. Anyways, booing him is absolutely stupid. You shouldn't boo your own team in your own home unless they aren't trying, are making ridiculous mistakes over and over and have been doing these things for awhile. I mean, it's your ticket and you can do with it what you want. But don't act like this team has been good over the last 19019038492348 years and expectations are always high. We have one of the very best teams in baseball and we should enjoy it because it isn't going to last forever. I don't remember the Packers being booed at home.
  13. I think we could squeeze a few more teams in Florida. Whaddya think?!
  14. Is he approaching a record for HR/Inning in MLB? It's amazing how many HR's he's given up this year. I can't imagine he's in MLB next year or every again.
  15. I agree, booing a guy is out of line (unless they aren't giving it their all) and something Milwaukee "fans" do a lot. We seriously have some of the worst fans in baseball and its hard for me to say that because I want to love them all. We do waves at stupid times, don't pay attention to the game, are impossible to make cheer and get loud without a sign telling them to, are generally not knowledgeable about the game and boo players like this team is having its dynasty tarnished or something. Now, people here I'm probably not talking about. And I have sympathy because this team was so and you couldn't expect a lot of people to really watch and have been into baseball for years. But our fans are pretty much garbage, lets admit facts. Honestly, there's a reason you never here players refer to the fans here "as the greatest fans in the world" and you get a general feeling of resentment. We don't chant much, we hardly cheer unless its an obvious situation, but we sure do like to boo guys!
  16. 1250am. I must have a masochist side or something.
  17. What I wouldn't do to have carry in beer. Would save me a fortune. I usualy buy 3 or 4 at the game and that adds up real fast. It's entertainment I tell myself and similar to going to a bar and quite frankly, I much more enjoy the game after about 3. (I'm not some drunk who gets rowdy or obnoxious for the record. I can hold it and have "been there" before) I'm just there to have a good time and get my buzz on.
  18. Don't take Blue Mound Road into games. I always head east on Wisconsin, then turn right onto Blue Mound right after crossing the bridge over hwy 41. There is much less traffic this way - on Opening Day, I cut a 1/2 mile line of bumber to bumer traffic down to less than a block this way. It's best kept secret if you know what I mean. Last thing I need is for people killing my awesome ez-in route, dude! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Lets try and keep these things under our hats. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  19. Time to step up and be men! http://news.bbc.co.uk/media/images/40153000/jpg/_40153112_danwink300300.jpg
  20. Totally disagree. He did what he had to do and let the media know they're pissed about the call. It's OK to be emotional up there. I grow tired of all the canned robot press conferences because coaches and managers are scared to make a scene with all the media coverage today. Sticking up for your team and your player and for a moment like that is OK. It was a huge miscall and it ruined what should have been something those guys and these fans should remember forever. He's pissed and he should be.
  21. This is untrue. After he submits the official score to the game (within 24 hours of its conclusion) a team may challenge the official score within 24 hours and the league president will determine if an error in judgment was made have the score card updated. So I believe this is in the Commish's hands...
  22. From the official MLB rule book: (a) The official scorer shall charge an error against any fielder: (1) whose misplay (fumble, muff or wild throw) prolongs the time at bat of a batter, prolongs the presence on the bases of a runner or permits a runner to advance one or more bases, unless, in the judgment of the official scorer, such fielder deliberately permits a foul fly to fall safe with a runner on third base before two are out in order that the runner on third shall not score after the catch; His fumble of the ball is an error by this definition. He fumbled the ball and that permitted a runner a base. The video clearly shows that if he picks that ball up it would be reasonable to believe he would make a throw to first with enough time. In the comments of the rule: For example, the official scorer shall charge an infielder with an error when a ground ball passes to either side of such infielder if, in the official scorer's judgment, a fielder at that position making ordinary effort would have fielded such ground ball and retired a runner. Considering that throw is easily made by MLB players it should be judged that it was an ordinary play he messed up. Mr Webb's argument was that it was an extraordinary play he was trying to make. Would it have been extraordinary if CC picks that ball up and throws it to first in time? I think not as I've seen that play made countless times. It was an error because he fielded it wrong by trying to use his hand and not his glove thus creating a fumbling of the ball. If he fields that ball he would be expected to make the throw. If he uses his glove it would be expected that he routinely fields that ball.
  23. Luckily they have 3 against each other. At least 1 of them has to lose 2 of those.
  24. The ESPN sports nation poll has about 66% of America believing the correct call was not made. That it indeed was an error and the hit should be replaced by an error with a no hitter being the byproduct of that scoring decision. Of course it's unscientific and irrelevant really. but it's one outlet that says a strong majority of people believe that the correct call wasn't made. And it wasn't. (For the record, every state believes the wrong call was made except Delaware). Even Pennsylvania believes an incorrect call was made.
