  1. Rosenthal just posted a pay article on the Athletic that appears to suggest the All Star game might delay a Machado trade just as I suggested here a few days ago. I wasn't able to read the article just the preview on Twitter. The game is practically in Baltimore's back yard and Machado is their only representative.
  2. I guess Corey is a morning person.
  3. Brewers Twitter posted this link that works... https://www.mlb.com/all-star/final-vote?expirationInMilliseconds=1531339200000
  4. I don't recall seeing it either, certainly not to this extent. The fan side of me hates seeing more talented players shuffled out for a journeyman or lesser prospect. And the idea of Peralta being sent out for a Miley or Davies is gross. But I do get why they do it. One thought that gives me comfort is I really do believe they see what they have in Peralta. I expect them to do so something with him soon that will make people scratch their heads and protest. But I think it will be with the idea of having him available for important innings in October.
  5. I don't see anyone saying those other guys are better. There's only one person on this site who had Peralta rated as a higher prospect than I coming into this season. I'll try putting this another way... If the Brewers starting options are healthy at the same time. Davies comes back, Suter comes back, Miley comes back. A high end starter could be added via trade as well. You add in Peralta's jump in innings and what's the easy solution to the dilemma of too guys for too few spots? They very well might send Peralta back down at the next hiccup and limit his innings piggybacking in AAA. I hate the idea of Peralta being dropped in favor or any of those guys but you have to face the possibility it might happen.
  6. Over 100 active users and guests on the site approaching midnight in Wisconsin. Color me very impressed being in Vegas where it's only pushing 10pm.
  7. They're looking to match up the player today to the numbers he's putting up so far. Is the bat fast - today? Is he swinging at good pitches? Any hint of an nagging ailment? And a big one with Manny specifically is...how's he looking at short? Is the range coming back? Is his feel coming back? Might his defense play better in the 2nd half than it did thus far?
  8. It's hard to admit and a huge bummer but I think Freddy goes back down via either a combo of healthy returning starters or ones acquired in trades. If they continue to lose starters to injury or come up empty on the trade market, they might have to skip some of his starts so he's still available come October. What I'd love to see is Freddy just flat out dominate and force their hand. As things stand, it feels like he'll get sent back down the second he has another sub par outing. From there I imagine they'll scale him back and have him return in the Brewers' pen come September.
  9. Lol, not looking forward to the day Burnes gives up a run if the Brewers don't get Machado. The extremes with this place.
  10. It's click bait for fans of the bigger market. Just saw the top story on ESPN.com is "who is the new King of the east" in the NBA. Giannis got the most votes from their panel yet the cover picture is Kyrie Irving. That's media nowadays.
  11. I was coming in here to say I have this weird feeling we're the runner up for Machado when some other team goes over the top to get him, but this post made me pause. We had that second hand report of how high Stearns is on Brown. Hopefully they're just skipping a midseason start to keep his innings in check. On the other hand I could see Brown being used in a trade for a player with a few years of team control. If I'm buying in on Stearns fondness for Brown, I'm not seeing him go for Machado. Since this is a prediction thread, I'll offer these... - The Brewers are the runner-ups for Machado who is traded right after the AS game. - The Brewers trade for JT Realmuto and send Woodruff, Brown, Erceg, and Nottingham to Miami
  12. Is Machado the Orioles only All-Star? I know it sounds stupid, (because it is) but I could see Peter Angelos telling his GM to hold off until after the AS game. Especially since the game is in D.C. so close to Baltimore.
  13. There is no longer a limit on votes cast. You can cast as many as you wish until voting ends.
  14. Here is the link for the Final Fan Vote. It's very easy to cast your vote and even easier to re-vote... https://www.mlb.com/all-star/final-vote
  15. Buster Olney on Twitter...
  16. No Aguilar is insanity. He's got to be a shoo-in if even one replacement is needed.
  17. Haven't looked real close yet, are there any NL AS pitchers at risk for missing the game?
  18. RP- Josh Hader OF- Lorenzo Cain OF- Christian Yelich 1B- Jesus Aguilar RP- Jeremy Jeffress Those are your 2018 Milwaukee Brewers All-Stars. The total of 5 is a franchise record. Jesus Aguilar has won the NL Fan Final vote and becomes the Brewers 4th 2018 All Star. Jeremy Jeffress has been added as an injury replacement for Nationals pitcher Sean Doolittle.
  19. I get it this year, but before Cain’s contract is over he’s going to slow. He will still get great jumps but Keon will hold his athleticism. To be honest I’m pretty sure either one would be perfectly fine in any OF spot defensively. Absolutely, it's a great problem to have. I'd bet on Cain still being an elite OF'er after Broxton's days in the Brewer organization come to an end however.
  20. If both Cain and Broxton are in the lineup and no one cares about established positions, to man Broxton in CF means displacing the best defensive OF in the majors. In essence you're saying Broxton is better than the guy who ranks 1st in defense. Anyone who has any doubt if Cain makes all those plays aside from the wall catch yesterday is probably falling victim to how easy Cain makes it look out there.
  21. You haven't been paying attention then. The break on fly balls Cain gets is even better than Broxton who might be a tad faster. The only ball I'm not 100% sure Cain gets is the HR robbing catch yesterday against the Twins. They are both elite defensive outfielders. They both have a knack for catching balls on the run that off the bat look like sure base hits.
  22. Looking forward to this lineup one day... 1- Cain CF 2- Yelich RF 3- Aguilar 1B 4- Shaw 3B 5- Braun LF 6- Miller 2B 7- Saladino SS 8- Pina 9- Pitcher P With Thames as the first bat off the bench
  23. I just caught up reading the various forums here and kid you not, I saw 4 instances where the same poster was either belittling someone or being asked by another to chill or being warned by a mod. What the heck does it take? It's the same guy over and over again. I apologize in advance for adding another unwanted post to this topic, but for heaven's sake please clean this up.
  24. And unfortunately it seems like the fantasy stuff stuck and the real details fell by the wayside. It's what leads to conclusions that the Brewers simply got lucky.
