  1. You've gotta be kidding me. The clock officially hates the University of Wisconsin.
  2. I was a kid and watched Barry Sanders play. That was enough for me. I guess I also wanted to be different than all of my friends and family. I always followed the Packers, but didn't really become a fan until Favre was gone and A-Rod took over.
  3. MLB: Brewers, I've been searching for an AL team and my partner's folks bought me a bunch of Tiger's gear for Xmas so I guess I found one. I like the Rays a lot too. College Hockey: Alaska NFL: Lions, Packers. I'm a Lions fan first, but I usually find myself rooting for the Packers because they typically have something to play for. College BB: Badgers, Marquette (unless they play the Badgers) NBA: Bucks
  4. Wisconsin: The Most Boring Team in America - In summation, Wisconsin is a boring team that doesn't play pretty basketball, but they win. The article is an interesting read. I particularly liked "Ryan is like a stubborn auteur filmmaker with a strange aesthetic that becomes more pronounced over time. He's the David Lynch of basketball coaches." "Now, pretend you're a coach at a BCS conference in Division I. Your school is middle of the pack or lower, and you struggle to recruit against the high-profile teams. Why wouldn't you adapt Ryan's style? Doesn't it make sense? He routinely beats teams with more talented players, and he's building something like a legacy in Madison. You don't need to worry about stars; Ryan's best player this season is Jordan Taylor, and he's averaging just 11.8 points per game. All you need are guys who are willing to work hard, forsake glory, and submit totally to a system of patience and discipline." Why is this a bad thing? Corntrader - You were a "lifer for Wisconsin basketball" until 2 years ago. What made you give up your lifelong allegiance? Because the game is boring? The Badgers are consistently one of the most fundamentally sound teams in the country.
  5. I usually go all out for NYE, but I'm taking it easy this year. I'll probably just hit a house party and then stumble to the bars. I had a lot of fun at Water Buffalo in Milwaukee a few years back. They did an all inclusive with top shelf booze and food for $100 per person. We ended up bringing a group of 25 or so and basically took over the lower bar for the night. At the end of the night our bartender told us we would have racked up an $8,000 tab if we had not done the all inclusive. I believe Water Buffalo still does something for NYE, but I don't think it includes shots and certain drinks. I feel pretty good about being partly responsible for changing their policies. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

  7. Gio Gonzalez to Nats for A.J. Cole, Brad Peacock, Tom Milone, and Derrick Norris. Per MLB Trade Rumors
  8. I enjoyed watching the game last night. The Bucks remind me of a Badgers hoops team. They play great defense, aren't selfish, but can't win a championship because they don't have a couple superstars. It was nice to see Leuer play. He put on some weight and looks has he has the potential to have a nice career.
  9. Good thing MLB doesn't have any rules regarding international players. Texas clearly needed him more than Houston. /blue The posting fee was also higher than total payrolls of the Indians, Padres, Pirates, Rays, and Royals.
  10. You've already done way more than most people. Time to rock some holiday music. If the library cannot use it after the holidays you could donate to one of the numerous non-profits in Madison.
  11. A reader driven P50 would help curb our jones until the official list comes out. How should we do it? Who will organize it once the lists have been submitted?
  12. Would the Astros be willing to eat any of his contract? I'd be all over it if they would eat half. I believe he cleared waivers last season (even with the Yankees & Red Sox needing arms) so that contract must be pretty awful.
  13. I wouldn't trade Hart for JJ. I've watched him pitch a lot and he is far from a sure thing. Minor, Beachy, or Hanson would be great too, but there would need to be a package involved that would send a bat back to Milwaukee. Any chance the Braves would sell low on Heyward? Beachy + Heyward for Hart, Green, Morgan/Gomez, and Peralta/Thornburg.
  14. I just don't see how the Rangers can pay them both, but I thought the same thing about the Angels. Darvish Contract: 5/$75m + $51.7m posting fee Prince: 8/$200m $326.7m is a lot of cash for 2 players.
  15. An Extract from “The Official History of the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea” Comrade Kim Jong-il, General Secretary of the Workers Party of Korea, Supreme Commander of the Revolutionary armed forces and Captain of the Korean Adult Film Club was born atop of Baekdu Mountain at six o clock in the morning. His birth was heralded by the appearance of a quadruple rainbow, clap of thunder and the release of Bambi by Walt Disney. Jong-il is the son of Kim il-Sung the founder and great leader of the Peoples Republic. His immortal exploits are covered fully in the previous chapter however he was the son of Kim Hy?ng-jik inventor of penicillin and gold. His father was Kim Bo-hyon whom Karl Marx stole the idea of Communism from in the 1840’s. Kim Jong-il was a bright child and was able to walk by the age of three weeks, talk by eight weeks and had completed his first Manifesto on the future of the Korean People by the age of two years. A keen sportsman Jong-il was Captain of all games at his school, where he was privately tutored. He was also captain of the chess, bridge, charades and biscuit club. He was a consistent A grade student and would always be top of his class of one, despite the disappearance of over twenty of his tutors. By the age of ten Kim Jung-il had invented many new items such as radial tyres, holograms and the microwave oven. Since then these inventions have been stolen from the people of Korea and cruelly claimed as inventions of lesser men. In 1964 Kim Jung-il graduated from Kim il-sung University with a triple first in Political Economy and Media Studies. It would have been very easy for the illustrious leader to then give his son token government job, however Jung-Il would never take something without first earning it. So it was that he joined the party, doing many great works for four years before his minor promotion to Deputy Director of Propaganda and Agitation. Here he would ensure the total happiness of the Korean people via informing them of the torture and murder that occurred to dissidents. In Just four years Kim Jung-Il was promoted to Party secretary of organisation and propaganda and one year after that he was officially designated as his fathers (the great leader) successor. Proving that anyone within the party who is willing to work hard could become the leader of this Democratic Republic.
  16. I guess I need to give M83 a few more spins. At first it just struck me as an 80s synth throwback record. I'm going to be very happy when the 80s retro sound goes far far away.
  17. Where were you sitting? I was sitting in the third level for the beginning of the show and moved because the sound was so bad. I ended up sitting in the second level and the sound was much better. I thought the sound was poor because of the location of my seats, but maybe the sound tech cleaned things up a few songs into the show.
  18. $300 shipped & insured. Treat yourself to the rarest Brewers bobble this holiday season http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  19. 2011 was pretty weak for hip hop. Critics seemed to love the Kayne/Jay-Z and Drake records, but I thought they were pretty weak. I don't think I've heard a hip-hop album this year that I will be spinning next year except for a few Das Racist tracks and Shabazz Palaces.
  20. In no particular order: 1: Bon Iver - Bon Iver 2: Smith Westerns - Dye It Blonde 3: Bright Eyes - The People's Key 4: The Horrible Crowes - Elsie 5: WU LYF - Go Tell Fire to the Mountain 6: TVOTR - Nine Types of Light 7: The War on Drugs - Slave Ambient 8: Youth Lagoon - The Year of Hibernation 9: Atlas Sound - Parallax 10: Shabazz Palaces - Black Up
  21. I have it listed on Milwaukee & Madison Craigslist. Someone actually offered to buy all of my extra bobbles including the Mark A and autographs for $100. I'm pretty sure he was serious too.
  22. Thanks for the info, JHart. Are there any pro prospects on Valpo, Cleveland, or Butler?
  23. $1.5m per year
