  1. Narveson is making it a little easier for them to justify running Suppan out there every 5th day, ugh.
  2. Melvin isn't stupid, he has to know that Suppan is toast and will get him out of the rotation fairly soon. That being said, I have this huge fear that in one of his next 2 starts, Suppan will, by some incredible fluke, go 7 innings with only 1 run allowed. Thereby "earning" him another month or two of starts, in which he will undoubtedly get shelled.
  3. 3 pitches "crushed" to the warning track and 4 walks is now a poor outing. Wow. For Doug Davis, 3 pitches crushed and 4 walks is a pretty decent inning.
  4. Seven innings of shutout, 3 hit ball. I really hope that Bush guy gets his act together soon.
  5. I'll be a Brewer fan until the day I die, and I will cheer for them without exception the next 152 games, but I have to confess that this is the least fun first 10 games of the season I have watched in a long, long time.
  6. Okay, maybe not a "W", but at least he won't get the "L". http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  7. Suppan exits the game with a chance to get a "W"? http://assets.espn.go.com/media/motion/2008/0326/FLOTG_Suppan_FINAL.jpg
  8. Won't we all be surprised when Suppan goes 6.0 innings, giving up 2 runs on 5 hits with 3 strikeouts and 2 walks today as the Crew wins the game, 6-3.
  9. On the bright side, we have our stopper going tomorrow.
  10. There is a fine line between bad luck and just plain bad. Zaun is quickly, well okay not very quickly, but he is crossing that line.
  11. I am certainly hoping it is just a fluke thing and that he'll be fine. That being said, even Hall of Famers like Hoffman eventually "lose it", sometimes it is gradual, sometimes it seems to happen overnight. I think we as fans have the right to be a little concerned right now.
  12. I heard this story a couple days ago on the telecast and was hoping it was a joke, but apparently not. The only joke here is Suppan.
  13. So tomorrow will we be hearing about Davis being placed on the 15 day DL with a "sore arm"?
  14. It feels good to have a 2 run le....er, 1 run lead.
  15. Even though the Crew lost, there were definitely some things to get excited about. Weeks, Gomez, Fielder, even McGehee looked good at the plate. Gallardo rebounded decently after a shaky first few innings. I love Braun, but I hope Machs chews his butt out for not running out of the box on that double.
  16. On a side note, Zambrano is pitching wonderfully for the Cubs.
  17. It's not Edmond's at-bats I'm all that concerned about. He bobbled a ball in right field, and then made a pretty bad base running error. A guy with 95 years in the league shouldn't be making that kind of mistake. Just my opinion.
  18. I am fairly sure I am thoroughly unimpressed with Jim Edmonds so far. I also don't understand Gallardo being out there right now. It's not as if our bullpen is overworked right now and we need our starter to eat some innings for us.
  19. Did Narveson run over Melvin's dog in the parking lot or something? Seriously, what does the guy have to do to get that 5th spot? This day started out with so much promise, I actually allowed myself to think that maybe the Brewers wouldn't give a washed up pitcher a rotation spot over a young guy with some promise just because of a bad contract.
  20. Maybe he has whiplash from watching his 85 mph "heater" get sent 420 feet in the opposite direction all the time.
  21. Let's say Suppan is being traded today, who would we realistically be looking to get back for him? We need someone that another team is more than willing to give up for next to nothing. We need someone who can play some 3rd base, as McGehee hasn't been too impressive. We need someone who can play some outfield, as Hart doesn't look good at all. Sounds like a "Jeff Suppan for Bill Hall" deal to me!
  22. I'm going to go with 82-80. I hope I am being a bit too pessimistic as I'd love to see us in the wild card hunt with 87, 88 wins but I'm too concerned with the pitching. Gallardo is fine, Wolf should be decent and I'm not even too scared of running Dave Bush out there. I am just not as much of a Doug Davis fan as some people out there. And of course, the 5th spot is still up for grabs and even though I think Narveson has earned that spot, it seems down to Parra or Suppan, neither of which are attractive at this point. I just have a bad feeling we'll be losing a lot of 7-6 games this year.
  23. I don't think the Brewers should just release Hart, but there is absolutely no excuse that this eye issue is dragging on into the start of the regular season. This should have been cleared up a while ago. If he is batting something like .180 when we are two or three weeks into the season, he is going to hear a LOT of boos. Especially after winning his arbitration case. If that starts going to his head, then we're really bordering on dangerous territory with him. As a Brewer fan though, I certainly hope he gets himself straightened out in the very near future. I'm not that comfortable with our options.
  24. Corey Hart needs to sit, period. He is just completely lost. Also, I was a few seconds late turning the game on, did Cameron really just sit there with the bat on his shoulder and watch 3 straight fastballs go right down the middle?
  25. I wish Ben Sheets the best of luck wherever he ends up. He has all the talent in the world, and by all accounts he's a good guy but to me there's just something in his make up that's missing. I am sure people will jump on me for even saying that, and I can't quite put my finger on it, but for the type of money he is going to want (and probably get) I just don't think he's worth it at this point. For the last 4 years he has averaged barely 150 innings a year. It's respectable, yes. Maybe I'm just selfish but I want more than that from our big game ace. That being said, I again thank him for his service here and wish him the best of luck and good health wherever he ends up.
