  1. Rotation: Gallardo, Wolf, Davis, Bush, Parra Bullpen: Hoffman, Hawkins, Coffey, Stetter, Vargas, Narveson, Suppan Starters: Zaun, Fielder, Weeks, McGehee, Escobar, Braun, Gomez, Hart Bench: Counsell, Inglett, Gerut, Edmunds, Kottaras DL: Riske If Villanueva can be sent down, I think he will be so as not to give up one of Bush, Parra, Suppan, or Narveson. However, it wouldn't surprise to see at least one other pitcher start the year on the DL and allow Villanueva to make the team. If he can't be sent down and no one is injured, it could get interesting. I also wouldn't be surprised to see either Salome or Lucroy make the team over Kottaras.
  2. I've historically done our taxes on my own, afterall I am a CPA (albeit not the tax kind) and should be able to handle most of it. But our tax situation became a little more complicated this past year with the sale of our house, temporary rental of our home, purchase of a home, selling of investments, etc. that I want to be sure we get it right and everything we're entitled to. Anybody go to the H&R Blocks, Jackson Hewitts of the world? How much would I expect to pay for both my federal and state return?
  3. Not to single you out, as I've seen others mention this as well, but can we please stop this notion that Gavinski and Markoff should be playing. It should be pretty apparent they are not D1 quality big man and likely never will be. They were recruiting misses, it happens. As for Berggren, he's a freshman and is still learning, can't expect to much from him at this point. I don't think it's any indication that he's bad. In regards to Tisdale, he's a very good free throw shooter - upwards of 80% - and a lot of his shots were jumpers from the outside, not very conducive to fouling. Tough loss for Bucky. They looked pretty good early in the game, and then the shots stopped fallilng. And McCamey got hot. Tip your hat to Illinois, they were the better team that night.
  4. If I recall correctly, didn't Macha state at one point a while back, definitely prior to Davis, that the only certain things in the rotation were Yo and Parra (I can't remember if Wolf was included in there as well)? That would lead me to believe that, even with the additions, Parra would have a leg up on Suppan, Bush and Narveson for a rotation spot. And therefore would also appear unlikely to join the bullpen, and as others have mentioned he is out of options. Obviously I don't have a link, but does anyone else remember reading this somewhere?
  5. I would love for it to be Reed Johnson, but would he really sign a minor league deal?
  6. In other words, the loser of the final spot in the rotation - Bush of Suppan (my hope) - should be the long man.
  7. I saw that Eric Byrnes will be released by the D-Backs. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/rumors/post/Diamondbacks-releasing-Eric-Byrnes?urn=mlb,213808 Anybody interested in him as a 4th OFer, maybe he could even supplant Gomez in CF if he is able to return to form. If he can even still play CF, it appears he's been a corner OF the past couple years. He seems to be a good clubhouse guy and definitely is a guy who will give it his all. I've always kind of liked him and I would suspect he would come relatively cheap. Or is he done?
  8. It's terribly maddening to see Kendall at the top of the lineup again. Between that and all the talk about lineup optimization, what would be a optimal lineup be for the current Brewers? Is there a crazy macro out there that can generate an ideal lineup? Admittedly, I am not up to speed on Bill James' studies, but I do know that your worst hitter shouldn't be leading off.
