  1. The past 12 months, theyve moved Bay, Nady, McClouth, Laroche, Cub and Brewer killer Morgan, Wilson, and Snell and Sanchez isnt too far behind in there never ending quest to remove anything romotely resembling talent from their team, and Im sure in about 3 years time all of these prospects they're aquiring will be treated the same way.
  2. That does look like a good lineup, but thats in part because you included 4 OFs. Glaus has been playing LF in AAA during rehab. I don't think there confident he can still play 3B. Even if you put Schumaker at 2B and leadoff and Lugo or Ryan at the 8 spot, its still a hell of a lineup. The majority of the media however is praising the A's for this deal. I suppose they could be right. Even if the Cards intend on extending Holliday, this is a Scott Boaras guy, and you know hes going to want to shop him to his usual suspects-Yankees, Red Sox, Mets, Dodgers, Angels, Mariners during the offseason, and one if them is bound to outbid the Cardinals.
  3. Assuming Glause comes back, they'll have Rasmus DeRosa Pujols Halladay Ludwick Glaus Molina Lugo/Schumaker/Ryan Damn, looks like Tony wont have to mess around with the pitcher batting 8th anymore.
  4. is that anyway to talk about the greatest fans on earth?
  5. The question is, how many of your top prospects do you really want Melvin giving up for rent a players or guys who you'll have for 1 more year? Say he does land Halladay. Trades a way Escobar or Gamel and Parra. Halladay makes the Brewers contenders next year, maybe they make the playoffs, maybe not. Then, in 2-3 years time, guys like Fielder, Hardy, and Weeks start goign their seperate ways. Meanwhile, The Brewers have finished higher in the standings the past few years, so they dont get the high draft picks they used to. Now, you maybe have Braun for a few more years and maybe either Escobar or Gamel, and your stuck patching the rest of the team together and back to where you were in, well, pretty much most of the time before 2007. Is it really worth it?
  6. Does anyone really think that anyones going to run away with this division? The Cubs, Brewers, and Cardinals all seem equally sub par at this point. Whose to say that the Astros arent going to swoop in and take it. They have the offense, and they're one solid starter away from a very good rotation.
  7. Do you really think Doug Davis is enoug to put the Brewers on top? Id say you need Halladay, Lee, or Bedard or stay with what you have.
  8. I can pretty much guarantee that Ricciardi asks for Gamel, Escobar, and probably Parra. The situation as I understand is that its not so much a salary dump as hes just trying to get all the top prospects that he can.
  9. Did anyone ever pick up Brad Nelson? The guy looked like he coul knock the ball all the way to the UP and then beat Prince Fielder, Bartolo Colon, and Geovany Soto in an elephant eatin contest.
  10. If the Brewers really want to get Hall out of town, and dont mind eating his remaining salary, my idea would be trade him to the Pirates for a guy who they had very high hopes for but have essentially given up on , Tom Gorzalanny.
  11. I actually like this move. Its a very low risk, high pay off maneuver, similar to Jim Edmonds last year. If he works out, it will be huge for the pen. If not, well, then sen him on his merry way onto the Newark Bears.
  12. Yankees, doubtful unless they want him as a DH, but Kevin Youklis has spent almost as much time playing 3rd as 1st, and the Red Sox could easily put him there and put Fielder at 1st. I think the Angels and Red Sox will be the top 2 for him when the time comes.
  13. Yeah, if Prince keeps it up, he'll have a lot of big market teams looking at him, including the Angels, Red Sox, and Mets. Even if Prince did want to remian a Brewer, keep in mind, its not just Prince Fielder you're dealing with, it's Scott Boras.
  14. From what I have heard, the bankruptcy could give the Cubs the ability to dump tainted assets, which would include executory contracts, including player contracts, but theres no way its going to happen unless they dont mind really pissing off the players asociation. The bankrutpcy affects the Cubs organizations current ownership, and once the new ownsership takes over, it will be business as usual.
  15. Its the Nationals. Maybe they should think about putting a baseball team together before putting the blame on the manager.
  16. None could be worse than the White Sox. Have you ever heard their imbecile announcer Hawk Harrelson? Every time one of their players gets called out on a close pitch, he'll spend the next 3 innings whining about it.
  17. The perfect fit would be San Francisco for Matt Cain, but the Giants refuse to move him, and I dont blame them. If Johnathon Sanchez wasnt such a dissapointment this year, he would also be an option, and the Brewers could also get something else out of the deal. The Angels would be another fit for one of their young starters, maybe a deal built around Jarred Weaver or Joe Saunders.
  18. If the Brewers really wanted this to happen, theyd probably have to be willing to take Julio Lugo off the Red Sox hands in order to get their foot in the door.
  19. Knowing Billy Beane and the top prospects he gave up for Holliday, its going to take a lot more than Ludwick to get Holliday. Think Brett Wallace. The draft picks that the A's would get for losing Holliday in the offseason alone would be worth more than Ludwick.
  20. You make it sound as though we scored something other than a slight upgrade over Aaron Miles and a break even on Ryan Freel.
  21. b/c you can't miss games for smoking pot in MLB. Hell, in the '80s, half the league was one coke. In fact I think it was a requirement.
  22. As a Cubs fan, if the Cubs were hypothetically out of it by the deadline, how would you feel about Rich Harden straight up for JJ Hardy, as long as they feel confident enough with Escobar? I doub that the Cubs re sign Harden next year, and Id love Hardy at SS and slide Theriot back to 2nd. Granted, Harden would be a rent a player for the Brewers, and I believe Hardy is arb eligible and could haunt the you for the next few years, but lets face it, if the Brewers were to make the playoffs with their current rotation, I dont see them getting far.
  23. Bottom line is that while DeRosas the type of player who can help any team, hes not going to put anyone over the top. Now if the Cards end up with Holliday, then its time for us all, Cubs and Brewers alike to be afraid. very afraid.
  24. One hell of an outfield our brilliant GM put together for 200 mil, huh.
  25. This will be a huge series. The NL Central has no clear cut leader, and nobody seems to have any interest in winning it. Cubs/Cards/Brewers games will all be important.
