  1. Oh boy Pratt had a HBP and was pinch hit for his next at bat. Now he did stay in after the HBP, stole a base, and then scored and played an inning or two in the field before being pinch hit for. i may try to watch Sunday when I am home.
  2. Maybe we can swap Priester for a high A toolsy outfielder and a draft pick…… But what a night for offense mostly. And some really nice pitching - Mr. Cornielle with a nice outing; Henderson as well, and M. Hernandez in relief in Columbia. That Mudcat offense - Bitonti is in a bit of the struggle right now while most of the rest of the lineup is clicking.
  3. Good write up, interesting that there are few overall impact arms from the IFA pool. And for the Brewers since those years (2017 on) as far as I can tell is Abner Uribe - unless I missed someone we traded away. And more recently it looks like Alexandre Cornielle is the next best option in AA.
  4. Good Yerlin. Strikes out the first two - hitting 96 mph with ease. And then a grounder to SS. TRats win 4-2. Nice come from behind win. Let’s hope the other affiliates can work some magic. Big league club is in a big big funk. Need good vibes from the minors to get me through this.
  5. Ok. Infield grounder and an error and Garcia is on. Then he’s caught in a run down with a pickoff attempt, and outs thrown into the outfield, he gets the 3rd, and a WP and that’s an insurance run. Yerlin in for the 9th. Fingers crossed.
  6. Aquino induced a grounder to SS and nice play Areinamo and it’s a double play, then a deep fly ball to deep left but just under it enough and it’s the 3rd out. tRats still up 3-2 heading to 9. Aquino efficiently thru 2 IP with 27 pitches. Was hitting 92. Let’s see if they can get an insurance run …. Or 2.
  7. Hardin had 8 H allowed and 2BB against all season coming into the game, and allowed almost the same amount in just 4 innings. Perez and Burke most of the offense. With Guilarte and Hal each with a double. Aquino in the 8th. Has the batter off balance, and a soft grounder into no man’s land between pitcher and 1st, and play made but no chance to get the runner/batter. Hopefully he can keep the lead intact.
  8. TRats tied late. Hardin had a decent line, not his most efficient best: 4 IP, 80 pitches, 5K, but 6 H and 2 BB. And Perez homers as I just turn in. No doubter to right. So now TRats 3-2 lead.
  9. Biloxi has had a nice little run of late with the offense being not-anemic. Garret Spain being a little spark, and the young kids (mostly Pratt, but also Adams, Lara) have had some success after very slow starts. Yowza - 42 posts total the past three nights total -. that’s a normal one night post total! Definitely missing Joseph. And a lot of other things going on. And I know I’m far from a regular but I hadn’t been able to watch this week - work and travel. Hope to back to help get the minor league daily link back going next week thanks for the great write up Jim!
  10. From what I have watched from Peña is he is plenty athletic and can field the infield, footwork and his throws are erratic but the arm when he covered third was fine. I think he can play in the infield if he works on footwork and gets the throws ok, and I’ll give him a pass as one the youngest players in A ball. If he is still struggling with this next season or the seasons after I will start to worry, but the sky’s the limit still even defensively for him.
  11. T-Rats get a run back, and now bottom of 9 Garcia singles steals a base and goes to 3rd on a wild pitch and Areinamo gets him home with a grounder. But 2 outs. Burke up and 3-2 count down to the last strike, and he takes strike 3 at the knees. Ugh. Have to at least swing there. A 3-2 loss. Heart break last night with a walk off against, and just no full comeback in them tonight. This is not a Victor Estevez team -- yet. He is at the helm and has a few good players, still trying to figure them out. They are staying competitive but no extra gear yet. If Areinamo ever moves up there is not much in that line up, unless Burke can start to hit, or several current Muddies get promoted.
  12. Be still my heart. The Shhhhuckerrrrs tonight. That’s extra Hs and Rs. Garret Spain has really helped that offense. Pratt and Lara with hits. Wilken still deep in the struggle with a 2B but 3K - boy will his prospect status ever rebound. Talk about a rebound - KC Hunt with a good outing statistically - 6 IP, 2H, 2BB and 5K on 86 pitches. Sothe Biscuits have 4 hits in the series yet it’s a 1-1 series so far. Because, you know, baseball. 🙄 EDIT - nevermind - the Biscuits have 6 hits because you know there were other pitchers after KC Hunt. But still 3 runs and 6 hits allowed in two games is good pitching for Biloxi.
  13. Well except for Biloxi - who was down 2-0 early, and now ends the game without a run. Only 2 runs total, and only 3 hits combined between the teams. The difference the Biscuits hit a 2-run home run.
  14. All 4 affiliated games go to the last inning with ties or lead changes. Exciting and nerve wracking all at the same time.
  15. Suckers down to their last at bats here. Wilken grounds out. Then Darrien Miller walks. Only 1 hit all night long. That is crazy. But the Biscuits have only 2 hits.
  16. Oh boy. I wasn't watching but clicked onto Gameday, and looks like the T-Rats lost. K, then a double, another K, a wild pitch and a walk. Then 3 run HR off of Yerlin. 4-2 Kernels over T-Rats Ugh. That stinks.
  17. I don't know that I actually knew that. Thank you. That explains the universal uptick. However, the percentage of pitchers throwing 95-96+ is still pretty high in MLB, and more than the percentage throwing 92-94+ was back in the day.
  18. I was going to mention Pratt, but he had a rough first 7 games, and a really good last 8 games. Still early, but encouraging that he is showing signs of life in that black hole of a league. Lara had a very good last few games too - he can be streaky so we will need to watch to see if this is him adjusting or just a mini-streak. Outside of those two, and a couple really good games by Ethan Murray, the offense is pretty sluggish, but either Birmingham was good for them, or the demotion of Garret Spain has been the catalyst as the offensive has a pulse now - weak, thready, but it is there.
  19. Ok this is even funnier to me. When I read @Joseph Zarr’s comment, and I was wondering why of all the first names to use he randomly chooses “Greg”, and I see your reply and it finally clicks (my first name is Greg as well). Well I assume @gregmag’s first name is Greg 😳 Apparently my situational awareness is still a 20-grade. But I’m working on my emoji skills and have them up to like a 50-grade now 😂
  20. I agree. It was three airmailed balls today- if you count the attempted throw in the 1st or 2nd when the batter struck four out #3, but he still threw to 2nd on the runner, didn’t matter or count and I gave him plenty of slack since he caught the pitch (foul tip maybe), so a lot going on. But his other two throws - looks like nice velocity, just airmailed. His framing has been good, glove still need work. But I like how he sets - his blue glove is a nice big target. And he moves well, he could handle other positions I think if his bat moves quicker than his catching skills. But I would love for him to develop into a offensively gifted and defensively sound catching prospect. I still have high hopes for him.
  21. And that’s a wrap- Childers get two fly outs. And then a grounder to Pratt, who fields it cleanly and throws to first and ballgame. Nice come from behind win for Shuckers. Solid games from Lara and Pratt (except for the error early on). Amazing work from the bullpen after the hiccup with a single and then an error that plated a couple of runs. After that zeros!
  22. A wild pitch, or passed ball and it’s 5-3 Shuckers now. Pratt walks And usual first baseman Goosenburg in to pitch. Hits Wilken, but then Miller taps it just in front of the plate and thrown out at first. GameDay says a swinging strike, but it was a 2-3 putout I think. Childers will come in to try to close it out here. Let’s go Matt…. I mean let’s go Will, Matt’s son
  23. Spain triples. 4-3 Shuckers lead. Daz Cameron joins Nashville as a spark, bumps Spain to AA, and he has been good for the offense. Lara up and the Pratt. Hopefully we can add to this lead. And Lara Ks swinging. Last chance to extend the inning is Cooper.
  24. Fitz magic. Gets a big K swinging there. On to 11th. Extra extras. Murray will be the “courtesy” runner on 2nd , and it’s Restituyo, then top of the order. This is the best chance to make it happen. Still not sure why EBJ tried to get to 3rd last inning. 2nd or 3rd base with two out either you need a hit to score you. OK shuckers bats let’s keep rolling. And restituyo bunt pops up and is out. Ugh. Poor fundamentals when it counts the most.
  25. Sac bunt. Infield in and a grounder to Pratt, and Cooper looks the runner back and throws to first. 2 out. That’s huge. Now Fitzpatrick can focus on just the batter. Hopefully he can get the out here.
