  1. Pratt seems like a mix between Turang and Hardy. Young, good size, more contact than power, very good defense. The other is if Pratt hits more and his glove/arm is below expectations he could move the 3B or even 2B with Turang going to SS. It will be interesting to see what a future infield in a couple of years - Fischer, Made, Pratt, Pena, Turang, Adams, Burke, and I feel like I'm missing someone (and I already moved on from Wilken being an option)
  2. Dubanewicz, DeBerry, B. Owens and wagoner as pitchers. Frias, Antunez, Fenelon, J..Martinez, Frontado, Moneys, Hughes, Ragsdale, D. miller, Wood as hitters. not saying I am putting these guys in the top 20 but these would be names I would have in a top 40 list consideration. And I may put a couple in my top 20 vote.
  3. Fischer for Skubal and McGonigle - done deal 😉
  4. No sorry, I combined thoughts too quickly. My point was just how Areinamo was a head scratcher in that he stayed in high A last year, when a lot of minor forum posters thought he should have been promoted. And that it was because there were things to work on that we may not know (although Areinamo's issues were reported). And then separately the team may not have valued him as much as a few of us did, given what they got in return, so they saw things that indicated he was not a sure of a MLB prospect as I know I thought he was. Maybe the team is asking Fischer to work on some things specifically and when those are done he may move up. And that although he is hitting well, there is something still there that they see as a problem that his stats hide. That was where I was tying in Areinamo as an example. Hope that clears it up. But, on Fischer, I do think he profiles more than Matt LaPorta -- who was a luxury as a 1B, power only guy in an org that had Fielder at the time and no DH. Fischer plays decent 3B (much better than Braun did), has contact ability in his bat (although not as good so far this year) so he has more value and range that La Porta. I will likely be wrong, but still see him and Dinges as the 2 highest potential players after Made and Pena. Both could have that hard contact, power potential, who could play a few positions in the field, and they have that swagger that could polarize but also could energize.
  5. The promotion process is obviously something we don't have true insight into. Every year there are some headscratching promotions and "non-promotions" but it is typically due to things the team has asked the player to work on or improve. The most recent example was Areinamo last year who played at Wisconsin and never promoted to Biloxi, then was traded for what many of us thought was pennies on the dollar. But patience and pitch recognition were things he was supposed to work on, and even Del Chiaro referenced that in an interview last summer. This year is is the Travis Smith to Biloxi, after a horrible start to high A season, while Owens is still in Midwest league. And I thought Hardin promotion was out of nowhere, but maybe his lackluster stats in AA was due to him working on something specific, and then he gets to AAA and has had nice start there. Fischer the college 1st rounder still being at high A at this time point is a head scratcher, and while it seems he would be better off learning how not to strike out in a more challenging environment, maybe it is the team's knowledge of whatever juiced ball the Midwest league is using, or the insistence on him making more contact, or something that is keeping him there. And then this is the opposite of what Brock Wilken had in 2024 when he struggled in AA before the injury, and those two may have stunted his growth (or not?)
  6. Maybe because he is truly the #1 prospect in all of baseball and we stashed him in the DSL so no one knows, and he gets his deserved promotion to AAA ahead of the scrubs like Made, Pena and Fischer. .... wait what color is sarcasm font again??? But seriously that we so Brewers to promote a guy from DSL straight to AAA, like signing two 20 year olds to multi year contracts before they get a half season of AAA under their belt ;)
  7. That is pretty funny. Fischer - man that guy does not lack confidence ;)
  8. I see Wood as a very good back up catcher option. I don't think he has enough to be a starter, but has been solid behind the dish (2024-2025 in what I watched), and would assume similar this year. Dinges has the highest potential with offense, and athletically he can be a great back stop, the question is will he get the innings/reps to be that, or will his bat force him elsewhere in the field? Darrien Miller is so intersting given the offense he has this year, but I haven't watched to see if he is passable as a catcher, he was fair and passable for minor league catcher but not anything more than that.
  9. Unless a lot has changed since last year, yes the breaking pitches and chasing out of the zone are what he has to work on. I have watched few games this year unfortunately, but his underlying numbers seem to indicate the same chase/miss issues. He tore the cover off at ACL, but was immediately was challenged by low A. This year I was hoping to see him start to hit it better but not sadly
  10. wow. now the next ones to extend are Made and Pena. Getting 4-6 homegrown hitters locked up for a similar timeframe would be reminiscent of 07-11 brewers with Hall, Hart, Hardy, Weeks, Fielder, Braun. Now for this group to perform somewhere a least as close to that sextet would be amazing. But if Chourio, Pratt, Lara, Made, Pena can spend the 2020s - 2032ish together, with some good pitching I can only hope to exorcise my 2008/2011 playoff demons. But given the biedergb curse/jinx, I think I just caused several of these players to have some injuries in the next few years..... sorry.
  11. Travis Smith to AA. That was NOT on my bingo card of roster moves this week. Wow, he definitely struggled in Wisconsin, and maybe it is just Midwest League thing this year, as no pitcher (outside of Owens) pitched well. Speaking of which, did I miss if Braylon Owens was bumped up to AA?
  12. THanks ARobs, I think I pestered you about this, and would say this was NOT anything I envisioned. Sad and sickening. I also hope this can be resolved in a way that can all parties involved can what they need (help, education, a new start, support, etc), and get back to doing what everyone here can get behind and that is to just play baseball.
  13. So Priester .... um 35 strikes in 73 pitches, with 5 BB, 1 HBP and 3 WP. Yikes. He did go 2.2 IP so he is starting to throw longer. But his control is ... um 'not there' I wonder if we will ever see him pitch in the majors again - yes I know how ridiculous that sounds, but here is a guy who was borderline ace at times last year, and cannot pitch 2 IP in rookie league very well, and if he does have to do surgery it may be a 1-2 year recovery. I want him to succeed, but that story does not sound great. I want to ridiculed for being wrong on this.
  14. welp, Letson will not get a W for his effort. A double off Birchard, who then looks like strikes a batter out but that beautiful curve is maybe too nice and called a ball. Birchard is then a bit wild and walks the man. Next batter HR to left and it's 3-1 Montgomery. Ugh.
  15. Of the 6 games against Montgomery this week, the starters have done a nice job, here are 4 who went at least 6 IP: Wednesday: M. Rodriguez 2H, 1ER, 0 BB, 5K in 6.2 IP Thursday: Gillis 4H, 2 ER, 0BB, 7K in 6.0 IP Saturday: DeBerry 3H, 0ER, 2BB, 5K in 6.0 IP Sunday: Letson 3H, 0ER, 1BB, 8K in 6.0 IP
  16. Letson's career high 6 IP, and career high 89 pitches and gets his 8th K. Impressive.
  17. Letson's line through 5 IP is now still 3 H and 1 BB but 7K. He is pitching well. His command is not great, but he is around the plate enough. Just some pitches are off, but most are good. Looking more like the guy I remember dominating last spring, although the velo is not as high and the command not as sharp, but getting a little closer. A full healthy season building up the arm and the IP is all I can ask for this young man.
  18. weird sequence - a bunt attempt on the first pitch of the 4th, and it hits the batters' finger, and Montgomery was assuming a HBP, but it was rules a foul, and manager is ejected. The batter is out with some pain on his finger and Letson strikes the pinch hitter out. Then it's Gregory Barrios up, weird seeing him and Areinamo on the opposition line up. Letson through 4 IP, 3 H, 1 BB and 5K so far in this game.
  19. Made went to get to the hit up the middle and his momentum carried him toward 2nd base and his thigh collided with the side of Vargas leg. He walked off easily on his own, and likely precautionary due to the DH. He looked ok but probably a little sore on his leg. Fingers crossed here.
  20. Maybe he knew it would be a rain out - and didn’t give it his best. Just kidding of course. Smith is a challenging prospect. As he has stuff, and he has stints where he puts it all together and looked that way at the beginning of the season if I remember correctly. But then he hits a rough spot. And every pitcher in Appleton is in a rough patch now. Midwest league juiced balls.
  21. If a GI bug, then yes. Since you can lose weight and risk dehydration. If this was 20-30 years ago they are playing. Nowadays, why push it, just give them the time to come back at 100%. Or it’s a flu thing and the fatigue/muscle aches etc can be limiting too. Hope he comes back fine.
  22. Agree. Arm is limitation, @Spencer Michaelis - how would you rate his range, as that seems to be another limitation, thoughts? I thought he looked fine at 2B, but not sure he has that same range that you need on the left side of the IF, especially with a limited arm. His speed plays on the OF and I imagine he could be CF, but his profile is limited if he is LF.
  23. No more baseball in biloxi. I’ll see you all tomorrow.
  24. Welp no come from behind win by Wisconsin. 7-6 final. Now on to see if the Biloxi game resumes. …
  25. Luis Castillo with a HR to cut it to 7-6. Let’s keep the rally going. sorry if there are some duplicate posts or out of order - this forum is glitchy on my phone.
