  1. I'm only looking at gamecast at work - but are the umps squeezing Bubic as much as they have some of the Brewers pitchers?? If so, why are they not generating anything offensively. It seems like the Brewers hitters are sleep walking. Or by the sounds of the posts here - some are trying to get 3 wins in one game. Maybe they are pressing too hard. I don't know this is about the worst start to a season I can recall.
  2. Too early but ... what players have trade value that will be FA in 1-2 years???? Asking for a friend
  3. How about we start pitching to our own team?? Either the pitchers will get a confidence boost .... or the hitters will finally hit something.
  4. Couldn't agree more. Not protecting Shane Smith was a mistake. We had potential DFA candidates at the time and did not have to select a Connor Thomas (he looks similar to some minor league free agents). Unless there is something that will be unlocked with connor thomas this is looking like a very bad trade off. And our pitching staff is looking like one that has lost talent. This is finally catching up to this team.
  5. Odd. If still with Brewers you would imagine he would be at AAA given the limited depth there. Unless the team was ready to move on anyway. Still this will be his 3rd year at AA
  6. Good question, both are on the 40 man. Rodriguez has MLB experience, more AAA experience, and is the less touted prospect and I would have less concerns about calling him up for a spot start. I would imaging keep Logan in AAA to work on the 3rd/4th pitch against those batters rather than call him up - he would be too tempted to purely rely on his FB/change combo only.
  7. Yes sir - they are one of those exceptions. Maybe we can double jinx this club into having a season to remember ;)
  8. No pressure, but the number of 0-3 teams making the playoffs is small, and the number of 0-4 teams is even smaller. I did not expect this pitching staff to look this bad. Hopefully it is just catching the Yankees at the wrong time, but wow 36 runs allowed in 3 games is a shocking start. And the offense seems fine, but may not have that "kick it up a notch" ability without a rah rah guy like Willy or Ryan Braun before him. Yeli and Contreras are uber-talented but seems like quiet lead-by-example leaders, and Chourio is so young.
  9. Miz is though 4 IP. 64 pitches. 6 K - yay. 3 BB ok. Only one hit - screamer past Miz and ate up Seigler playing 2nd. But still 1-0 Sounds.
  10. Bummer. He truly had unhittable stuff - because he was on and batters couldn’t hit it, or he was off and no batter needed to try. BB/9 of between 5-8 is not great. Plus he had 30 HBP and 36 WP in 157 IP. That’s basically either a HBP or WP every 2-3 IP.
  11. Henderson looked like he was fighting it. He also does some headshakes when he is getting ready to pitch. Not sure what but almost looked like he was shaking his head at his night. ‘When he was locked in (2nd and 3rd) he was relying on his FB/change and when he located his cutter (like when it appeared not outside or high to me) he was fine. Command particularly of his ‘other’ pitches was his key. Hopefully this is something he can work on and get a reliable 3rd or even 4th pitch. EMJ triple was the offensive highlight. Well hit ball and he showed off some wheels for a big fella. Let's see how today goes. It’s always interesting for a Miz start - which version will we see.
  12. McGee gets out of the 5th. I am hopping off for a bit.
  13. Phew. He threw a few sliders according to announcer. And gets out of the inning. Maybe his last inning. McGee was warming up.
  14. Logan really struggling again in the 4th. Pitch count approaching 80, two on and two outs. And he just had a pitch clock violation, then a walk to load it. Ugh. Not very good. Logan just hit a wall after settling after a poor first inning.
  15. Logan goes back to cutter and on back to back pitches. First was a strike. Second was hit out for a homer. Wonder if he will try cutter again?
  16. Solid third inning. A couple of hard hit balls but at fielders. The third out was a nice grab down the line by Durbin with an average throw to get the runner. Not amazing, but solid enough that you can see that playing up in the majors.
  17. Does stat cast have the EVs for hits in AAA? EDIT - never mind I found it. eMJ hit was 102.9 mph
  18. Got it. Not as good with using stat cast - I’m pretty ignorant to types and shapes of pitches. ‘I will try to check it out more to try to learn.
  19. I didn’t see the cutter or know how to see it. I agree I’d rather have him struggle and learn a third pitch maybe next starts. EMJ with a hard hit to the right center gap and hustles for a triple The Siegler with a hard hit out to score a run.
  20. That’s more like it. 3 Ks in a row in the 2nd. Much more in control for Logan. Let’s hope this is what we the rest of the game. Now the offense can start to get going. Looked overmatched in the first.
  21. Fighting command and then gets hit when he has to put it over the plate. Ugh. Here we go. Another 4 run inning by the starter
  22. only 8 times this century have the Brewers started off 0-2 to start the season, and this is the worst in terms of run differential so far. (2022, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2011, 2003 and 2001). The 2015 team went on to start 0-4, the 2011 team went 0-4 although that year went well ultimately, and the 2003 team went 0-6 to start for the absolute nadir of a season for this franchise. Outside of the 2011 team, that is not great company (2022 and 2017 teams were competitive but did not make the playoffs)
  23. Ok. I didn’t truly endorse it was a fair league, but really more that the ownership could (and I believe should) do more to keep or sign players to remain closer to the middle than to the Pirates in payroll. But agree it is not a fair league Either way the evil empire is forcing its will on the upstart small market team today, and it is highlighting one of the big ills in baseball.
