  1. Time to jump on the Kelly Johnson Bandwagon. From what I hear, they want to put KJ in left field. Trade them Hart for KJ and figure out right field later. If it takes more than Hart add a A level prospect pitcher. Brewer fans, after watching KJ for the last three years ....you will be very happy with Kelly.
  2. I think we could end up with an unexpected player starting at 3B...kind of like when Melvin landed Corey Koskie a couple years back. I think something is brewing, though we won't know for a while. Hinske, See my post in Transitions-Christmas List. Home state boy, very versatile 3rd, 1st, outfield. He has a better average than RB and we do not lose much in power. I see Melvin going with Lamb. I don't have much confidence in that.
  3. Everyone keeps saying all we have to do is upgrade third base and we'll be fine, but nobody says how we can significantly upgrade it. How about Eric Hinske at 3rd with Hall? He can play the outfield and 1st base, hits for a better aveage than Branyon and you still get about the same power. He is not a long term answer, but a year or two would allow Gamel/Green to reach the majors. Plus he is from Wisconsin. If I werw GM, I would offer... Edmunds 1 year $7 mil Hinske 2 years $5.5-6 mil Hoffman 1 year $6 mil Sheets 2 years 20 mill plus incentives and trade Cameron and Suppan for Cabrera and a young pitcher (McAlister/Melancon) Starting Lineup vs Righties vs Lefties Cabrera Cabrera Hardy Hardy Braun Braun Fielder Fielder Edmunds Hart Hinske Hall Weeks Weeks Kendall Kendall Pitcher Pitcher Bench Rivera, Edmunds/Hart, Hinske/Hall, plus one more Starters Relievers Sheets Hoffman Gallardo Villy Parra Riske Bush Coffey McClung Stetter L Swindle L Dillard Pena/DeFelice Rounding off, came to less than $80 mil for next year, with a balanced lineup and a another young stud like pitcher at AA with Jefferies. It gives us a better than average team with tons of flexibility now and into the future. .
  4. Kelly Johnson for Weeks as the primaries would be awesome. He can bat almost anywhere in the order. Any thoughts?
  5. If I were Melvin, I would do this...5 year 122.5 million Year 1 20 Million Year 2 22.5 Million Year 3 25 Million Year 4 25 Million with a player and team option with a 5 million team buyout. If CC is still hot, he can walk and make a bundle more. If he burns out it only cost 5 million to get out of a bad contract. Year 5 30 Million with a 10 million team buyout. CC is will get at least 72.5 million if he burns out at three years and 102.5 million if he burns out at four years. I know it is a lot of money for a small market, but it sure helps our pitching (as long as he does not get hurt in year 1-3) until some of the youngsters make it to the majors. Feel free to move the numbers around.
