  1. May you never swing a bat in this ballpark again, Carlos.
  2. On the bright side, Bill Hall has three hits today. Hey, I'm trying to be positive...
  3. I'm sure it will be. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  4. I already took that shot. Try to keep up. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif
  5. And that's one more 1-2-3 inning than our "ace" recorded today. Nice job, Rick.
  6. Cool. Rick Helling's in the game. It's only about 18 hours too late.
  7. When does the free agent signing period start? "The second day" is my pick. We're not smart enough to see the writing on the wall and make this deal.
  8. Ugh. This sucks, blows, and stinks. All at once.
  9. Rivera tried to impale Craig Wilson? Double play? Ack.
  10. Do I dare ask how in the name of Joey Meyer we only have three hits off this tomato can?
  11. If the bullpen is quiet (I'm following online), it's because: 1. Cappy is due up next inning 2. Ned is trying to get fired We should get Ohka up in the pen. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  12. David Bush's starts from June 17 til the present: OPP IP H R ER BB K HR CLE 8 4 2 2 2 6 0 KC 7.1 9 2 2 0 8 0 CHC 6.2 7 1 1 1 7 1 CIN 6 7 3 3 2 5 1 CHC 7 9 2 2 0 8 0 ARZ 6.2 9 5 4 1 4 0 CIN 3 7 6 6 3 2 2 Looks like Bush had finally come around. He strung together a month's worth of quality starts, and got the win in Arizona while not pitching terribly. Then he comes in to relieve in San Francisco in the middle of his time between starts, and he has his first truly horrid start in about a month and a half. There certainly is a real chance that it's a coincidence, but the timing could lead to the conclusion that the relief appearance messed Bush up a little bit. Let's see how he comes out in his next start before we pass full judgment.
  13. The way our offense is going, a complete game shutout might not be good enough to win. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  14. In 13 1/3 relief innings, opponents are hitting .130 against Rick Helling. In pitches 1-15 of his outings, opponents are OPSing a Jenkins-esque .617. Really...how is Helling NOT an option?
  15. 1. There are more types of pitchers than "aces" and "bad ones". Example: Chris Capuano is neither an "ace" nor a "bad pitcher". 2. Don't use "All-Star" as your case. Derrick Turnbow was an All-Star. Ricky Bones made an All-Star game once, too.
  16. Well I don't think a tie game in the eighth inning is a good time to test his preparation abilities. Maybe we can throw Turnbow in that situation tomorrow so someone can talk about how great an idea that is.
  17. David Bush has made three relief appearances in his (albeit short) career. Two of them have come in the last six days. Seriously, how can you argue with a straight face that this makes sense? Are you going to advocate bringing Ben out of the bullpen on Friday against the Reds, or Cappy on Saturday? Of course you're not. So why is it a good idea to put in a guy who obviously thrives on getting into a rhythm and doesn't usually do well right out of the block?
  18. David Bush opponent OPS by inning: 1-3 .870 4-6 .637 7-9 .618 So, yeah, he sucks in his first innings of work. His opponent OPS is .962 for pitches 1-15 and 1.024 for pitches 16-30. But, hey, let's bring him in cold out of the bullpen in a tie game. What a great idea! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif
  19. I'd argue until I'm blue in the face, but my face is so beat-red right now that I'm not sure anyone would notice if it turned blue. Bush was not the best option there unless we're acquiring a new fifth starter tomorrow. Capellan and Helling would both have been better choices. Helling has barely done anything in eight days, and he's proven in the past that he's pretty good in his first inning, as opposed to Bush, whose worst inning is his first.
  20. Someone posted the opposing hitters' numbers against Bush, based on the inning. Let's just say that his first inning numbers were the worst of any other inning. It was either innings or turns through the order. I can't remember for sure and I am too lazy to look it up. I do remember that the numbers for Bush early in his appearances were bad compared to later on.
  21. So let me get this straight... You think it's a good idea to use a starting pitcher in a relief role? Seriously, can you come up with ONE CASE of this working out for a good team in the last five years? (Last year, for example, one starting pitcher on the Cardinals' staff made one relief appearance. It was Jason Marquis, and it was toward the end of the season when they had skipped his turn in the rotation.)
  22. I wish I were only "mad". http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  23. And Ned will then put him back in the closers' role so he can work on that 34.36 ERA for the month.
  24. Only if Yost gets fired or suspended. Otherwise, you gotta have Jenkins out there. I'm not entirely sure why, but you just do.
  25. "Around here" isn't the problem if you're referring to this particular board (PeaveyFury - I was referring to the media and many of the fans...most of the hardcore fans on this board understand this situation enough to know that there is a problem in the dugout). Ned probably won himself a four-year pass from many people in and out of this organization because they finished .500 last year. And that's too bad, because if Ned knew what he was doing, this would have been an 85-90 win team last year.
