  1. Nice job holding the runner, Jose. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif This is ridiculous, but not as ridiculous as Bill rolling out the "Gardenhire's playing a National League style of baseball here". Hey, dope...the Twins have been playing like this for the better part of a decade now, and they've had at least three and probably four teams that were much better at it than this one. And why is it a "National League style"? That's the stupidest stereotype in baseball, even worse than the White Sox/"smallball" craze from last year.
  2. Way to hustle on defense, guys. And why is Davis still out there? Ugh. Has Ned already lost all faith in Shouse?
  3. Liriano started four games last year. Trust me. The kid has FILTHY stuff. Think about Johan Santana, only Liriano might actually end up being better. And remember...I live in Minnesota. I watch the Twins a lot. They're pretty bad this year, but Liriano has been a bright spot. If they hold him to 60-70 pitches, then Gardenhire and Rick Anderson are dumber than I think they are - and I think they're pretty dumb. EDIT TO ADD: If this pitch count report is true, then it greatly increases the chances of us seeing a gas can middle reliever in the middle innings. They have Guerrier in the pen, who is okay but not really good, and Silva, who has turned into one of the worst pitchers in the AL now that all the hard-hit balls people get against him aren't finding gloves anymore. Crain is hittable, too, and Roidcon drives people nuts over here, though he's been effective so far this year. If it gets to Nathan, we're probably toast, though he hasn't exactly had a bunch of save chances so far.
  4. Unless Liriano has control issues tonight, we ain't hitting him. Control issues are certainly a possibility, but a better idea might be to make him work early and force Gardy to use his bullpen in the sixth inning. The bullpen is hittable. Speaking of "hittable", Scott Baker will throw on Saturday evening for the Twins.
  5. Someone get me a broom! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  6. Did I just see Jose Reyes draw a walk? Or are my eyes still buggin' on me after that Edmonton game? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif
  7. Giants fans on their boards are complaining about it being a dirty play by Prince because he went out of his way to hit Greene. Did anyone see it?
  8. Buh-bye, Carlos. It's been a pleasure.
  9. And The Dusty Baker Face makes another appearance. Carlos is about to rip his right arm out of his socket. This is too much fun.
  10. No, Carlos. The ball is supposed to be thrown that far OUTSIDE when you're trying to walk the guy. Oh...you weren't trying to walk him. Got it. I think Z just started talking to his cap. This could get interesting.
  11. GREAT at bat by Hall. Double-triple-double...is Zambrano talking to the mound yet? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif
  12. So how was that not an error on Damian? It clearly would have been an out if the throw had been on target. Do the Astros let Barbara Bush be the official scorer?
  13. No, but it also shows that the offense does have a lot of work to do. People are mad because the offense looked stupid against Graybeard Glavine? Good...I didn't enjoy it, either. But it doesn't qualify as the end of the world. Let's get 'em today.
  14. With Trachsel on the mound, this one could easily go into the night. Ohka (0-1, 4.09 ERA) Trachsel (1-0, 1.50 ERA) Hopefully, we can hit a little better than we did last night...not that it would take much for that to happen.
  15. I've become convinced that Derrick Turnbow doesn't know what a 1-2-3 inning is.
  16. I know you want to trust your veterans, but at the very least, it was stupid to let him bunt with two outs. (EDIT: er...strikes) OMG CARLOS!!
  17. I had a firm grip on my, um, mouse. Yeah, that's it. Whew. Can we win now? Please?
  18. Because Ned, like about 25-28 other big-league managers (depending on the situation), seems to manage by the book a lot. The book is nice, because it removes any real responsibility from the manager. He doesn't have to make any really tough decisions. Just go by the book. Do nothing unconventional or out of the ordinary. Formula managing. Drives me nuts.
  19. While I see your point (and I agree with it - the sacrifice bunt is absolutely the most overused play in baseball IMHO), this decision is coming from a manager who once hit his pitcher eighth and the catcher ninth for the balance of a season. El Caballo just saved a home run. OK...there's ANOTHER BREAK. Can we take advantage of something here?
  20. Eckstein wills another base hit. Maybe when Jeff Passan is done kneeling in front of Derek Jeter, he can move on to Eck.
  21. We hear all the time about green lights for baserunners and hitters. Can we get a red light for Clark? Maybe have the base coaches carry stop signs with them as reminders for when Clark reaches base. And now Kolb is on. My bad feelings continue to grow. But at least we'll still have a better record than the Twins. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif
  22. El caballo con el ganador!! EDITed to remove picture. It was too big. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  23. Wow. Walking Geoff to get to El Caballo. Hágales la paga, el caballo!
  24. I hate watching on Gamecast. (Though at least I now have broadband at home...so my computer actually doesn't go psycho when I try to use Gamecast. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif )
  25. 4-0? BRILLIANT!! http://images.usatoday.com/money/_photos/2004/12/27/inside1-guinness.jpg
