  1. Why would you hope this? Have you seen how he's pitching today? The last thing I want right now is for him to have to leave the game.
  2. My sarcasm meter just went off. I wonder why. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif
  3. I'm telling you...18-13. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif
  4. It's key that they don't let up. This is one of those 18-13 days at Wrigley Stadium.
  5. It was probably more of a mistake by Maddux. There wasn't anyone to throw to at third base, and he could have gotten Hardy. CAPPY!! Good rip. 5-1, and: RISP: 3-3. Someone alert the media.
  6. RISP: 2-2 http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eek.gif
  7. Could Jenkins have hit that ball any higher? (For one, the bleacher guys from Major League would have been right. TOO HIGH!)
  8. Derrek Lee just GIDPed. Someone better check to make sure the aliens didn't leave his body.
  9. Cedeno must be an idiot. Why would you go out there without sunglasses on a sunny day, only to get sunglasses after you lose a ball in the sun?
  10. That was the kind of start I envisioned. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/sick.gif
  11. Great idea...bring Branyan back so we can strike out 19 times in a game instead of 15. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif (Actually, bring him back because he's a better bunter than most of these clowns.)
  12. I'd say "nice effort", but this was anything but. If Whinegar can't get through to these players, maybe it's time to try a different approach. Either get a different coach, or start benching those who aren't listening. But 15 strikeouts is unacceptable...especially from a team that has seemingly been pulling this crap for over a decade now.
  13. If worse comes to worse, we can use Obie. Hell, he's a better hitter than half the regulars anyway. The Brewers have now struck out 15 times in nine innings. They've also handed the Cubs two outs with bunts/failed bunt attempts.
  14. It'd be nice if these guys stopped swinging at pitches that are aimed at the ants crawling in the dirt in front of home plate. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/sick.gif
  15. Like I have said before, I am against formula managing, but I can see why you bunt in that situation. I can also see why you don't. You give a team a free out when you haven't done anything offensively in the game, and you virtually assure that the bat will be taken out of El Caballo's hands later in the inning, because the Cubs will either pitch around or flat-out walk him if he comes up in a meaningful spot.
  16. The real bad part about the bunt idea is that it virtually assures that Lee won't see anything to hit if his at-bat means anything. I didn't think of that when I made that short list of pro/con arguments after Weeks bunted.
  17. Arguments: 1. With the middle of the order coming up, and with Rickie having really struggled today, it's not a bad idea. 2. It's a bad idea to give up an out this late in the game when nobody has really been hitting. Take your pick. I'm neutral, only because nobody has really been hitting, but at some point, you have to hope to catch lightning in a bottle.
  18. When "run-scoring play" can't be done, I love seeing this on Gameday:
  19. How did Wood look? Was it him or did we just stink up the joint? (I hate WGN for not airing these games. Actually, I don't hate them for last night because I wouldn't have been able to watch anyway. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif )
  20. Nice bunt by Cappy. That was MVP2005 quality. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif
  21. Do the slide, Bernie. Jones looked like he didn't think that ball was going out of the yard. Either that, or he didn't have any feeling for where the fence was. That would be weird, because that's normally something Jones does well (Hunter, too).
  22. That marks the first time Radke has gotten out of the first inning without allowing a run since the 15th...of May. Not a good sign. (That's a span of six starts if you're counting. Radke's first inning ERA entering play tonight was something like 11.54.)
