  1. Did Gameday Audio go up in price this year? Seems more expensive. I guess it's a choice between reliability and mobility versus struggling to tune in the station from Hudson that, if you hit just the right spot on the dial, comes in audibly in the Twin Cities. Hmm..... Let's go Fielder!
  2. 3 vs COL: 2-13 vs STL: 2-13 @ CHC: 1-23 @ WSH: 2-13 @ PIT: 2-0 (rain)3 vs CHC: 2-13 vs PIT: 2-12 @ SD: 1-1 14-8 Tiebreaker: 6+6+7=20
  3. Loretta's two-run double might be the season low-point for me, but after listening to Uecker handle drunk Tommy LaSorda I still feel pretty good.
  4. Atta way, Braunie. Let's go, Prince. At least the two guys in the lineup I trust are up with runners on. As I type, Prince tacks on another! Here we go, Crew...
  5. Final score tonight: Brewers 10, Twins 7. You heard it here first.
  6. Good to see Braunie gets a chance. A cycle would just add another dimension of crazy to this game.
  7. Let's go, Brewers! Break the curse of 2009 national television!
  8. http://www.theonion.com/content/news_briefs/turns_out_craig_counsell?utm_source=most_pop_faxed Apologies if this has already been posted or is in the wrong place. Mods feel free to do with it what you will. Just thought we could all use a touch of humor during the Crew's recent bleak stretch.
  9. Great side-by-side comparison. Thanks. Not to quibble, but is our production really all that much better? For the guys you mentioned, sure, but the overall numbers look almost the same. So we're taking hits at other positions vis a vis last year, right? Or am I misreading your point?
  10. Ouch. Well there's no quit in 'em at least. I feel a jump start this weekend...
  11. I like the positivity there! And maybe that single will get Corey going. Also, Braun is the tying run right now....you never know. I'm just eager to put this series behind us. Let's start over tomorrow, and take two of three from the Sox.
  12. The Counsell pitches were not good. Gamel needed to protect on his K.
  13. I hate complaining about the ump, but you all are right. The zone is awful. And why do umps give pitchers so much room off the outside? Dumb, dumb, dumb.
  14. I will say that Macha sure has lived up to his promise of giving Hall a chance to prove himself. I like Hall, and he's done some good things over his career in Milwaukee, but at some point you have to pull the plug.
  15. I think Hardy's status as a hot/cold kind of guy plays into the whole thing as well. I know Hardy's been bad the past few weeks, but, in the back of my mind, I'm still thinking that he could light the fuse in any one at-bat and turn the whole thing around. Also, just two short weeks ago, there was a Wednesday afternoon game against St. Louis that the Crew ended up losing 3-2. If I remember the IGT right, several people were hoping the Brewers could just get J.J. to the plate in the ninth. He'd been great all day. He grounded out to end it, but the incident points to his streakiness and the amount of confidence he instills when he's going right. The offense has been awful lately, and it's natural to look for someone to blame. Perhaps Hardy should be taking more fire, but, as others have pointed out, the whole lineup (with notable exceptions Misters Braun and Fielder) has stunk it up recently. Blame placed on Hardy would be, in my view, more like finding a short-term target for short-term frustration. The blame on Hart and Hall cuts a little deeper.
  16. Wow. Frustrating one. Get 'em tomorrow. At least we don't have to wait all day for the game. Bright spot, though: Casey McGehee. Despite the K to end it, he was 1-3 with two walks and a run. I know it's just one game, but it's nice to see production from someone other than Counsell at the top of the order. Sorry. Brain fart on the DiFelice. My mind's somewhat at ease now, though. Thanks, nate.
  17. Nice to get the double-play there. Tough to win when you leave 17 (!) guys on base, but there's still hope. Gamel, Cat, McGehee? Sounds like three...
  18. Is anyone else a little worried about DiFelice? There have been high pressure situations in innings 6-9 in both games, and we haven't seen him.
  19. Why are productive outs so difficult for this offense? I guess everything is tough right now...
  20. Welcome to Milwaukee, Chris Smith. Come on, boys! Start the bats for him!
  21. Well...no further damage. Someone was saying earlier that this looks a lot like last night's game. We've got the two-run lead in the seventh. This time maybe our guys will put up the three spot.
  22. This offense is mildly frustrating right now. Keep 'em in it, bullpen!
  23. I think the problem with a Hart-Gerut platoon is that both guys have been ice cold for awhile now. Others have mentioned the size of the Gerut sample, but let's not forget that the guy wasn't producing for the month and a half he was with the Padres either. Again, you can say small sample, but the career numbers for both of those guys are comparable in terms of both games played and at bats. Hart is better in all major offensive categories except OBP, and in that he's only 9 points behind Gerut. Whether you play Hart or Gerut, you're holding out hope against a prolonged slump. Personally, I have no problem riding it out with the guy who's been here his whole career, not to mention that he's five years younger. The Catalanotto issue seems more complicated. If Cat can come close to his last year numbers (.274/.342/.339--OPS=.741), he'd be an option, but we know he isn't going to hit for a lot of power. Right now I'd be in favor of a Hart/Cat platoon, but only if Hart still gets the chance to start vs. RHP. He has to have chances to get going, and we can afford to give them to him in June and July. The only caveat is that it doesn't make sense to me to let Corey lead off. Ever. Let's hope McGehee shows us some good stuff tonight.
