  1. Hey, Marco Estrada gets Johnny Gomes out! Nicely done. Sometimes when we play the Reds, I miss Bill Hall. Emphatically not in blue. Pretty sure he would have two jacks in the series already.
  2. Woohooo! Nice Defense, corner infielders! I'm feeling good about that. More runs, fellas!
  3. I agree that Davey is tough to listen to. I wonder how much of it is the format too. It's weird listening to a radio broadcast as if it were a TV broadcast. I've always liked the one guy is primarily responsible for x innings, and when both commentators are present there's no obligation to have a back and forth. I'm not saying I want Davey doing innings solo. Just that the form of the broadcast itself is awkward.
  4. It's about time someone got drilled. Seriously. Of course, bean ball wars are dumb, but at least someone is showing some emotion.
  5. Well...good night, everyone. This team is really frustrating. Why do we do it to ourselves?
  6. I am so frustrated with the bullpen. Not that it's entirely their fault. But really. Can anyone record an important 3 outs late in a game?
  7. Nice job by Yo to get out of it, though I second (third? fourth?) the frustrations with his nibbling. Part of it certainly him getting squeezed, but it still would be nice to see him throw into the seventh and eighth innings. As for his pitch count, I'm less worried than I might be with others. Yo's mechanics are so sound (and, yes, I'm knocking on wood as I type) that I think he should be able to handle throwing 110, 120 pitches. His release point his nearly perfect every time he throws, and it doesn't look like he puts a lot of unnecessary stress on his arm, Dontrelle Willis style.
  8. Great job by Hoffman. Win or lose, that's nice to see. Now if only the bottom of the order can help the Crew avoid a winless homestand (yuck).
  9. The Phillies are showing what good teams do defensively. That play by Valdez was really good. Let's get Hoff a win.
  10. I second the vent thread idea. This team is practically made for it. It's really frustrating to watch them look like a borderline contender one week and then like the worst team in the league the next. They're not either, clearly, but there seems to be no fire during these rough stretches.
  11. All it takes is a Menard's Big Inning winner to force extra innings. I'm really glad there's a day off tomorrow. Maybe everyone can relax, Braun can get healthy, and the team can start playing like they did against LA and Arizona for a couple of weeks.
  12. I sure hope it's more than one. And involves the bullpen.
  13. Okay, now I'm talking myself out of depression. The Crew still has a winning record in May. There are many, many games left. Braun should be back playing soon. As should Gomez. Just forget about this series and start playing better. Please, Brewers. I want to care about you in July and August. Help me out.
  14. Baseball is not fun and Jody Gerut is bad. I think that sums up the Atlanta series. On to play Philadelphia. Maybe the team can salvage a 2-win homestand. Yuck, yuck, yuck.
  15. Frustration aside, if Fielder manages a salami in the eighth, I'll be ecstatic. Of course, that should be half in blue, because there's a .000004% chance of it happening. But still.
  16. And not only that, but they can't get an important hit or hold when the need one. I mean, in comes CV, a guy who's been good, and gives two big runs in an 8th inning when putting up a zero is absolutely necessary. Throw in the anti-clutch baserunning, and you're talking about a really awful stretch. I don't understand how you can win 5 of 6 and then turn and get spanked at home. I mean, the no Braun thing surely did not help, but wow. Is it too much to ask to at least give yourself a chance at a dramatic win? My oh my.
  17. And then strike 1 to Inglett is a foot off the plate. I guess things even out.
  18. You know things are going wrong when: Corey Hart has a decent at bat in a moderately clutch situation and still K's.
  19. Sinker baller to sinker baller. Wonder how this will turn out.
  20. In fairness, McCann really went out and got that two strike pitch. It wasn't like Parra gave him a meat ball. The pitch to Heyward on the other hand....
  21. I don't trust Manny Parra one bit. This would be way better with a 3-2 lead.
