  1. I kind of like the shift from Marcum to Hawkins. Gotta be tough to adjust to. My oh my, Yuni.
  2. Tough not to feel a little bit bad for Craig.
  3. Perhaps Yuni should be hitting in the fifth spot? (Half-Blue)
  4. Not as good a throw from Castro that time. Also helps to have T-Plush running instead of Prince. I think this Braun guy is pretty good...
  5. Perhaps more is coming? And DM is stockpiling infielders? I'm confused too. I guess we'll see.
  6. I'm so glad we get to watch Braun for the next 10 years. Man, is he an animal.
  7. In Ed's defense, that was an incredible throw by Castro, and it was still a close play. Prince gets down a little sooner, he might sneak under, girth and all.
  8. So, assuming Rickie has to sit for awhile, where does that leave us offensively? Hart is probably best suited for the five spot, but then who hits leadoff? Morgan would work, but then there's that 2-hole problem. HartMorganBraunFielderMcGehee2B (Green? Counsell? Trade?)YuniLucroyP The bottom half looks awfully ugly there, but if Hart hits fifth, then what? MorganLucroyBraunFielderHartMcGehee2BYuniP Or when Morgan doesn't play? Hart's gotta leadoff then, right? HartLucroyBraunFielderMcGehee2BYuniCarrollP Of course, RRR doesn't like hitting Lucroy 2nd, but what other options do we have? What would you do with what we have available? Just going through this, it seems like DM absolutely has to get another infielder now. Here's hoping Weeks can come back within a month or so.
  9. Wolf hasn't really earned a big zone, and his control is bad, but a couple of those two strike pitches this inning (to Swisher and Posada) looked awfully good.
  10. I really can't wait until this series is over. Come to think of it, I can't wait until we're done with the AL. This is gross.
  11. Boy, Randy is really struggling to throw strikes. Most of those pitches aren't even close.
  12. Well, 20 pitches for CC in the first. So, that's good, I guess.
  13. It's really tough to watch this team on the road. I can't decide if they're just playing over their heads at home or underachieving away from home. The Boston, Tampa, Minnesota, Yankees, Minnesota stretch looked to be among the toughest of the year alongside the post All-Star break trip, and it's shaping up to be that way. Hopefully the Crew can get a win tomorrow to get to 6-6 with three left. My head says it would be tough to be disappointed with that numerically speaking, but they just haven't looked good against top competition, despite stealing a game each in the Sox and Rays series. Let's see stopper Randy Wolf tomorrow.
  14. Out of hand in favor of the Brewers (just avoiding Be Careful What You Wish For Syndrome....)
  15. Maybe we can just hit the reset button. Better at-bats towards the end, and good work doing some extra damage to the Rays pen in a blowout. 40-34, .5 out of 1st, 1 out of the WC. Still too early to be putting too much stock into the standings. We all know baseball is a streaky game. Let's start a new streak tomorrow.
  16. As frustrating as the game has been, it was nice to see them showing a little fight in the 8th. Hope it continues into the 9th. If it's Farnsworth, make him throw a lot of pitches.
  17. Agreeing with those who talk about atmosphere and enthusiasm. I'd love a great in-game manager, sure. And there have been plenty of times this year when I've disagreed with RRR's decision-making, mostly as it relates to handling the bullpen and (not) double-switching. Still, there's something to be said for being able to manage personalities and build a team-first atmosphere. I think that's the most underrated aspect of team sports. You have to get guys to play together, and, even in baseball, where "team" is more of an aggregation than a more-than-the-sum-of-parts type thing, chemistry matters. It's an overused cliche, sure, but it also happens to be true. I think someone like Ron Gardenhire is a great example of a bad to mediocre in-game manager who still manages to produce successful teams consistently.
  18. First pitch bomb. "If you're going come inside, don't knock before you come in." Love it, Bob.
  19. Frustrating loss for sure. But it was still a 2-2 West Coaster. Eleven games left in May, and nine of them are at home. Greinke and Marcum back-to-back tomorrow and Saturday. We're still okay, folks.
  20. I love this, and it's about the most fair thing the team can do. Right now, Braun is a giant bargain, and this does nothing to change that. What it does do is let him know how much he means to the franchise. When players say, "It's not about money," I know no one believes them. But, in some cases, I think they're at least trying to be honest. Sometimes it's the ego-boost of knowing what you're worth that these guys are after. I don't know Braun, and I have no idea if he's like that. But that kind of commitment has to feel good. This is one of those no losers deals, I think. Braun's earned this. And we get to watch him play for a long time (knock on wood). Go Brewers management.
  21. Get the split tomorrow, Cappy! Nice work, Yo. And clutch Kottaras.
  22. What a game right now. I've relegated the Brewers to Gameday to watch some seriously good hockey. Chicago gets to rifle goals, a breakaway from Kane to put up a goal, and then Philly comes right back with an equalizer. Awesome. And that's not even mentions the flurries of Philly pressure. Just a great game in a great series so far. Plus, it's big markets that are two big time hockey towns. I hope the ratings live up to how great this is. It'd be good for hockey.
  23. Watching Jeff Suppan walk Henry Blanco is an orgy of bad Brewers memories.
