Here's John Sickels' take on our selection of Jeffress. From www.minorleagueball.com/ 16) Brewers: Jeremy Jeffress, RHP, Halifax County HS, South Boston, VA As you guys know, I love this guy. Not (just) because of the 100 MPH fastball. . .Colt Griffin taught us not to get excited about that. . .but because of his athleticism, his delivery, and strong makeup reports. He needs development time, but it looks like a good pick to me.

I guess my trepidations about him signing or going to FSU were unwarranted. It's nice to see him signed so quickly. I wonder if they had a pre-draft deal in place or if he just accepted their first offer.

I wouldn't say he is built like Dontrelle. Dontrelle is a tall and fairly big guy. He is 6'4" and listed at 239. Jeffress is around 6'. Jeffress' delivery does remind me some of Dontrelle though. The high leg kick is similar to Dontrelle. Maybe he is built like Dontrelle's mini-me.

I just saw Nevin Ashley play last night at the Express game. He had a passed ball (it wasn't a wild pitch, he should have caught it) and hit a homer.

Murray, Barfield, and Hughes are all still on the board after 103 picks. One could be available for our fourth round pick.

In the third round we get Cole Gillespie LF Oregon St.

Chad Tracy to the Rangers in round 3.

Scout.com has Brewer listed at 6'2" 195lbs with a 4.48 40. They have him as a three star prospect. Speed, size, and football accumen reminds me a little of Carl Crawford. Of course, Crawford was a QB while Brewer is a WR or DB.

If he signs. He could be a tough sign. He has a football scholarship to FSU. Could be tough to pry him away from that.

Our second round pick is Brent Brewer SS
  11. jwaltz
Chamberlain to the Yanks at 41.
  12. jwaltz
Chamberlain still on the board after 39. He could end up being a steal for someone in the second if he makes it past the supplemental round.
  13. jwaltz
    Bard to Boston.
  14. jwaltz
    Conger to Angels.

    It's Jeffress.

We are coming up in a minute or two. I say Chamberlain or Jeffress.

The MLB.com draftcaster is what I am using. It is very fast. Kiker to the Rangers.

Detroit is going to have a filthy rotation in a few years. Bonderman, Miller, and Verlander will form a nasty threesome.
  19. jwaltz
    Stubbs to the Reds.
  20. jwaltz
I'm kind of hoping the Red Sox take Stephen King. It would be quite ironic.

I'm sure we'll see stories on this later on... And maybe another book too.

The Cardinals signed RHP Will Cunnane to a minor league contract.
  23. jwaltz
Jamey Wright had his contract purchased by the Giants. He will open the season as their fifth starter.

I must say, Andrew Miller has a terrible moustache going on this photo here. link

Must have been Dusty's dumb cousin. Congrats Jamie.
