  1. Alex Gordon is his #1. No surprise there. Gordon made the Royals. The Royals need to keep this kid. He's a special one. By the end of the year Gordon will be the new face of the franchise.
  2. My roommate read Eragon and the second book in the series Eldest and enjoyed those two books. They weren't deep or thought provoking but they were entertaining enough. This past week he watched the movie of Eragon. He absolutely hated it. He said it was the worst adaptation of a book he has ever seen. It was also one of the worst movies he has ever seen. Luckily I didn't watch it with him. He was pretty mad. He doesn't think anybody could have done a worse job. I don't think I'll ever watch it.
  3. Finally got around to seeing The Bourne Identity. It was a pretty good action flick. Not as good as the book but it was still pretty entertaining. Matt Damon is pretty darn good doing action. Kung Fu Hustle Funny, silly, very entertaining. Pretty much what you would expect from Stephen Chow. Bruce Liang is very good as The Beast. Qin Yeun (The Man With the Golden Gun) plays one of the most memorable characters in Landlady. Wah Yuen is quite good as Landlord. It was great seeing Wah Yuen play a good guy instead of a villian. Chow spoofs Matrix, and Spider Man while paying homage to Bruce Lee and Looney Toons. The story is pretty simple but the action, visuals and jokes are good.
  4. Alex Ochoa signed a minor league deal with the Red Sox.
  5. I see former major league catcher and La Crosse native Scott Servais is their farm director.
  6. I can't blame DeJean for going off on Royster. Heck, alot of Brewers fans wanted the chance to do that too. I remember when he was traded away he spoke of how he was sad to leave and liked it here. It was a nice change of pace from all the other guys we trade away badmouthing the town. I will always like him for that. I can't see anything wrong with giving him a minor league deal. If he still has it he could be a nice asset, if not, we lose nothing.
  7. I like him as a LOOGY. In that role he could be a very good guy to have around. Plus with his 6+ ERA last year he should be quite affordable.
  8. John Sickels' Baseball Prospect Book 2007 is also quite good and thorough. link Here's a link to Sickels' website: link
  9. I think the advantage here goes to the Pirates. LaRoche broke out last year. Not only was he a good offensive firstbaseman he is also one of the finest defensive firstbasemen in all of baseball. His defense has been compared favorably to JT Snow. Way to go Pirates if they turn a closer that is more of a luxury for them into a very good firstbaseman.
  10. I love it. This guy is a quote machine. I love his confidence and attitude.
  11. As Sam said, paragraphs are your friend. Don't fear them. I wouldn't mind seeing us attempt to aquire Jason Kubel from the Twins. He wasn't all that good last year but he was still recovering from his torn ACL. He should now be fully recovered and ready his bat speed should be close to where it was before. He has the potential to be a very good hitter.
  12. I'm definately going to get the Wii but I am going to wait until January or February when their isn't a shortage. The system just seems more inovative and fun than anything else out there. I have to give Nintendo a lot of credit for taking risks. They took a risk with the DS and it paid off. Now they are taking a risk with the Wii and I think the system will do well. There is definately a ton of buzz and excitement about the Wii. Nintendo hasn't had this much buzz and excitement about one of their systems since the Super Nintendo.
  13. Nice to see Nevin Ashley get a mention. I was at the last game he played for the Eau Claire Express. He hit a homer and moved well behind the plate. The D-Rays have a good system. Hopefully they can continue developing that talent and one day amass enough talent to make a run at the division title.
  14. That would be a bad deal for the Yanks. While Rolen is far superior with the glove, A-Rod is superior offensively and can stay healthy. Rolen has a lengthy injury history and can't be counted on to play a full season. The money the Yanks would save in this deal really wouldn't mean much to them.
  15. No. I just said he was in Cameron's class defensively. Right now Erstad is probably best as a reserve OF since he can't hit and can't stay healthy enough as a starter.
  16. Now it's solvvvn CF whoa.
  17. There are only three or four other centerfielders in Cameron's class as a defender. Hunter, Andruw Jones, and Erstad. Maybe Kotsay too. I agree, the Padres would be stupid to let him go. He is easily worth 47mil to them. His defense and offense are a big reason they made the playoffs again. If by some miracle they don't pick up his option he would be the first player I would call. Lofton would be another good choice. Plus the days he doesn't play we can use either Hart or Gross there. Tom Verducci blasted Lofton as a useless player in the playoffs and someone to avoid. He called him playoff poison. Well, Tom didn't mention alot of those teams wouldn't have gotten to the playoffs without him. August and September is when Lofton takes it to a whole new level. And it takes more than one player to lose a playoff series. Lofton has led teams to the postseason an impressive 10 times (11 if you count leading Arizona to the NCAA Final Four). His credentials and performance would cause me to give him a call and see if he wants to come on board.
  18. If the Padres don't exercise their option on Mike Cameron he would be one of my top targets. He is one of the finest defensive outfielders in all of baseball and will give you around 25hrs. He won't break the bank and will really help our pitchers.
  19. I would love to see us bring back Ray King. He liked playing in Milwaukee and would probably be interested in coming back.
  20. Since Soriano turned down 5 years $70mil there is no way he will accept 3 years $45 mil. He wants more than $15mil a year. I think he will get a 5 year deal.
  21. Since neither can hit, yes, both go to the bench. I might actually option Cedeno down for more work on his hitting. Maybe he can turn it around down in AAA. Izturis has some defensive versatility so he could be useful off the bench.
  22. I would do that in a heartbeat if I were the Scrubs. If the Drubs can resign Ramirez (which has to be priority #1) adding A-Rod would give the Flubs one of the best middle of the order's in all of baseball. A-Rod, Lee, and Ramirez. Plus A-Rod's defense at short would help the pitchers. Both A-Rod and Lee are gold glovers at their natural positions and Ramirez is at least solid defensively. Sign Mark Loretta and you have a pretty good defensive infield.
  23. If we could pry Kubel away from the Twins we should do it. The guy is still recovering from his torn ACL in the AFL two years ago. Those things sometimes take two years to fully recover from. Next year he should be all the way back. When at full strength the guy can hit. He can really hit. I wouldn't be surprised to see him win a batting title someday. He won't hit 30+ homers very often but he will hit for a high average with lots of doubles. He could be a very good one.
  24. We now have all but one of our top 16 picks signed. That is amazing. Good job Jack Z getting all those guys signed. Now if we can only get Robinson signed.
  25. Page is currently working out with the Chiefs. I'm guessing if he doesn't make the team he will sign with the Angels.
