  1. I see Posey was injured at the end of the Giants extra innings loss last night. If it was something minor that kept him out for, oh say, their next series... I wouldn't be too upset. edit: After looking at the replay a few times, and reading some of the reports and player comments... it looks like it might be pretty serious.
  2. I thought that was funny too, he's obviously embarrased over some the decisions he's made on the basepaths. I appreciate that he's trying to learn from his mistakes and be a little more conservative/smart on the bases, but not advancing to 2nd on that play at the plate was actually just another baserunning "gaffe"!
  3. Seems like tonight would've been a good opportunity to park Betancourt on the bench, Counsell has some pretty good career stats vs Hernandez.
  4. Anybody else really concerned about Hawkins'? If the people thought the gun was hot today for Gallardo, what does that say about Hawkins only throwing 88-89? He needs that FB to be effective over the course of the season, he got really lucky with some pitches tonight. Is he done? Dead arm?
  5. Try to find the offensive positives in 8 LOB's for him tonight. 2 spot, 4 spot, 8 spot...it's pathetic anyway you slice it. I'm still searching for positives... Um, defense? He had a little something to do with our first run too. Walked, stole second (which prevented a DP), then scored on a single. He definately brings something to the table, he just doesn't belong in the 2nd spot in the lineup. The way the rest of the team allows base runners, his defense is much needed in center to take a few away now and then. That said, it'd sure be nice to have Morgan healthy. If you insert him for Gomez, the lineup card is fool-proof.
  6. In the post game after Estrada's last start Roenicke said he was getting one more. I'm pretty excited to see Zack, but I wouldn't be too upset if they had him throw one more in Nashiville just to stretch out a little more. Zack has mentioned being tired, so it couldn't hurt to build up his stamina a little, plus Estrada is throwing very well.
  7. This is the lineup that I was hoping for today. I like Gomez in the 2nd spot for the time being, the last couple series he's been putting together some pretty good ABs and getting on base . Hart is going to be a little rusty and wasn't exactly tearing the cover off the ball during his rehab, so for today Gomez is the best option. Very relieved to see Casey back in the lineup already!
  8. "That would have been a fitting end to Carlos' night on the base paths if he would've passed Counsel" That had me laughing out loud!
  9. Did anyone hear anything further about what the deal was with Weeks' hand/wrist after that pop up last night? I assume it wasn't much since he stayed in the game, but when Weeks walks off shaking his wrist it makes me pretty nervous!
  10. I'm really hoping for a rainout. At least you don't have a defeatist attitude or anything... We're on the road, just came off playing a double header followed by an extra inning game. Our bullpen is overworked, and we're up against 2 of the top pitchers in baseball today and tomorrow. We would really benefit from playing this game at a later date, possibly with a more favorable pitching matchup, rested bullpen, and healthy lineup. So like I said, we could really use a rainout. It has nothing to do with my attitude.
  11. This. Giving Werth 3rd and then not holding him at 3rd when you're trying to get him at the plate is just idiotic.
  12. So many factors working against our offense tonight: - we have 4 minor league caliber bats in the lineup tonight - much of Prince's awesomeness is neutralized by the lefty/lefty matchup - we're still a HR hitting team, a tall order tonight with the stadium and wind
  13. When you have an OBP like Gomez, drawing a walk feels the same as hitting a dinger. Hence the bat flip.
  14. I'm not a fan of the shift when it doesn't work, but I really like it when it does. I've noticed most message board posters feel the same way.
  15. Gomez' splits against LHP the last 3 years are .231/.289/.357, and last year he was .196/.271/.309, nothing to get excited about either . I say.. Morgan is HOT, Gomez is NOT. Couple that with the motivation of playing against the team that just traded him for next to nothing.... and I'd say Morgan is still the better option for tonight.
  16. I pray that I get to see this lineup someday: Morgan Weeks Braun Fielder McGehee Hart Betancourt Lucroy Greinke But I don't think RRR will take Weeks out of the leadoff spot, even though it's the right thing to do. The only problem with this is you'd have to move Weeks back up to the lead off spot when Gomez plays, and perhaps a player might not like that. I'd still be excited about this same lineup with Weeks leading off and Morgan batting seconds as long as Hart moves up to the 2 hole when Gomez plays.
  17. My brother in Madison told me this morning that "Extra" is slated to show the game tonight in Madison. It's also showing up on Charter here in La Crosse. I don't think I could have taken 3 straight days without watching Brewers baseball, so I'm pretty pumped Charter stepped up here. WOW! It is on Charter 87 in La Crosse. I've never even checked that channel before. However, tonight I'll be at Chucky Cheese for my son's 1st B-day. Maybe someday I'll get to see Marcum throw.
  18. What? No backhanded compliments for Kotsay on the catch? What's going on with this thread? Edit: nevermind!
  19. Ken Rosenthal on twitter: #Brewers asst GM Gord Ash on Weeks multi-year talks: "We're making progress. We're not done yet. We're inching our way." #MLB *Fixed linking issues.
  20. If we promote a good coach and player developer from one of our minor league affiliates, are we helping or hurting our organization long term?
  21. Is there such a thing at the MLB level? MLB managers that impact games usually get fired!
  22. We miss Hernandez, Lee, and Oswalt in the upcoming series with Seattle and Houston. I don't think it's unreasonable to say the Brewers could sweep the whole homestand considering our fortunate pitching matchups, and opponents. We do that and Brewer fans will be pretty excited heading to St. Louis.
