  1. Never said he was an idiot and I know how acquiring a new closer affects a bullpen. I just think it is too much to give up. There is a reason I didn't bring up the Cubs specifically in my post because right now they are so young and so good their position prospects exponentially less value to them in their system than as trade pieces. They don't have to worry about this because they already have the offense to get a lead. There is a case that the Indians don't.
  2. Haha, it's been a long day Fido. I had to go back and make sure I didn't say it.
  3. Superfly, I think Stearns alleviated some of your concerns about going all 76ers and just dumping, dumping, dumping. He wants to have talent at all levels of our system. The problem with targeting just upper level guys is that there is usually a higher cost to getting them. I don't like losing either, but signing guys like Lohse, Garza and Suppan to 3/4yr-50/60 million dollar contracts because we didn't have the prospects cripples us as well. Stearns has had a little bit of bad luck in that Peralta and Jungmann cratered completely. Those two pitch better this year and this could be a .500 team even in a rebuilding year.
  4. You are very correct about the team control.
  5. Then cheer for another team brewcrewin07. The FO and ownership is going down this road.
  6. I understand that and yes I may have seen a game or two, hence my presence on this forum, teams have not been trading packages of prospects like this in the past 7 seasons. Not to mention Lucroy makes half of what Miller does and best case, Miller pitches 30-40 innings the rest of the year for them.
  7. Confused as to why I got quoted in there. You meant to quote brewcrewin07. I was arguing with him about the very things you are saying.
  8. I would not be surprised Ennder but don't say that too loud around here.
  9. Where did I say I didn't understand? I said it doesn't make any sense. It's relief pitching, not starting pitching. If it was starting pitching, all good, but I'm surprised all these prospects going for relief pitching.
  10. I'll be curious to see how Stearns does if he does send out two or more players at once since he hasn't done it before.
  11. That is why he is available* *For so cheap. Theoretically.
  12. I'm taking the no news is good news approach.
  13. Yes because overpaying below average/average free agents has worked out really well for us? Topped out at game 6 of the NLCS. I'd like to go to the world series at some point. You either need prospects to get the majors or to trade and we are still in the process of acquiring those needed prospects. Unless my username changed without me knowing, I didn't say squat about wanting the Brewers to trade for him. If we did, and same with Shelby Miller, it would be good as buy low candidate for future sale not necessarily to help us go anywhere.
  14. Who is purposely trying to lose games? The players aren't. Counsell isn't. If Jungmann and Peralta pitched halfway decent, this would've been a competitive baseball team.
  15. He can't throw good strikes.
  16. You're going a little over-the-top with sanctimonious condescension. How do YOU know Gallo is going to be good? And if you are convinced he is going to be good, why do you think Texas would make him available? Not a single prospect watcher/evaluator thinks he is the best prospect and the Rangers don't even think he is good enough to be on the MLB team right now. Why would Stearns worry about making the current team better? Everybody knows it is a rebuilding process. We are not going to compete for a few years.
  17. Thanks Wildcat, you sold me on Payano.
  18. Oh his terrible defense is real, but I was throwing it out there.
  19. Gallo also has a 70 arm. Something that doesn't quite get mentioned enough.
  20. Based on how much people are spending for pitching, it just depresses me even more that Peralta and Jungmann pitched terrible this year. If either one of them would've pitch near their best this year; oh what we could have gotten.
  21. Very few of the guys we are talking about are 4-6 years away. The fliers, yes, but Mendez and some of the other will be ready in two to three years.
  22. Personally, my favorite prospect in there is Dillon Tate. I think he could be really good.
  23. I do not understand the fascination with Gallo. Sure he is a top prospect now, but let's not pretend he is a generational prospect a la Trout and Harper. He is going to strike out A LOT.
  24. I think the BF forum is going to need to take a rest after the deadline passes. I don't know if I have seen this board be collectively (myself included) anxious like this.
