  1. trwi ... lol. That schedule looks fun
  2. When we played the AL West in 2013 we had: Home - Rangers, A's, Angels Away - Astros, Mariners, Rangers Based off of that, I am not sure where we will play Texas.
  3. I was wondering when the 2016 schedule will be released. The first link says 9/13 where as Wikipedia says 9/8. Looking at last year it was 9/8. I did always find it odd that baseball released it's schedule during the season. http://www.mlbschedule2016.com/releasedate.html https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_Major_League_Baseball_season
  4. That might be so but I watched Davies start and am rooting for the kid. I am one on this board who thinks he can be a SP and not just a relief guy. As others have said though, I am just hoping the baseball gods toss a little bad luck our way in those close games.
  5. Ha - I knew this thread would be met with harsh criticism. It's all good. I rooted the same way when the Packers ended up with the 5th overall pick 10 years ago. As Casey said, I am just hoping the baseball gods toss a little bad luck our way. Of course I want the young guys to do well. But I would leave Garza out there and let him continue tossing batting practice. Thanks for the losses Matt! As Young Guns, Paul253 said every win sends us in the opposite direction for our consolation prize for 5 months of bad baseball. In 2013 we finished September at 15-12 and a final run of 6-2. That final run gave us the 10th pick instead of the 6th pick. To me, I would take the 6th overall pick vs going 6-2 in the last week of the season where the season has been lost months ago.
  6. I will take one of those 10 game losing streaks please. It was like a week ago we had a top 5 pick. Now we are trending towards not even having a top 10 pick. Good job guys
  7. This says it's still perfect http://www.baseball-reference.com/bullpen/Foul_territory
  8. Very well said and exactly where I am at.
  9. So just to be clear; we would dismiss a former top prospect, first round pick (49th), 27 year old, who plays a position we have no pipeline with all because of a bad slash line in 273 major league ABs? And 225 of those came in one season so is really the only season to "count" ... Man you guys are tough. This is the exact guy I would claim. But I have zero intention on "going for it" in 2016. Food for thought Anthony Rizzo slashed 141/281/242 in his first season with 128 AB Not all guys toss up a .900 OPS in their first 273 ABs
  10. Maybe so, but I have said this in the past. I would rather overpay for high-end, top of the league pitching vs paying 2 mid tier guys who are just alright. Just alright, nets you a just alright win %. If we rewind even further and say we might as well just resigned Sabathia, that works out the same. Front end of contract = great. Back end = bad. Greinke's back end of his contract remains to be seen but he is already 31. In 2009 we would rather pay Suppan & Looper $17.5 vs $15 for Sabathia In 2010 we would rather pay Suppan & Wolf $22 vs the $25 for Sabathia In 2011 we would rather pay Wolf & deplete our farm system for Greinke for $23 vs the $25 for Sabathia. ... It's a vicious cycle. Now we are saying instead of paying Lohse + Garza, we could have been paying for Greinke. The issue remains the same, unless the Brewers can fill 4/5 of their rotation with home grown talent, they will never be able to overpay for one of the best pitchers in baseball.
  11. Agreed. I like going back and looking at this. I do find it funny that we were mostly way off. But like you said, there is just no good way to predict this.
  12. Just for reference, we are 53-74 with a .417 win %. With 35 games left that will give us 15 more wins if we can stay at that win %. Final record would be 68-94. Also, taking a look at the other bottom feeders. The Reds may not win a game for the rest of the season outside of playing us: LAD(1), @ MIL 3, @ CHC 3, MIL 3, PIT 3, STL 4, @ SF 3, @ MIL 3, @STL 3, NYM 4, WSH 1, CHC 3, PIT 3
  13. bump ... Just so we can reflect back at how most of us homers were way off lcbj68c had the lowest win total guess. (From my quick scroll through the thread) ... I am hoping for more than 90 losses as I really want a top 5 pick. But we do have a good shot at the Cubs in the World Series
  14. Same. This drove me banana's
  15. I agree with most. I can't stand some of the "unwritten" rules of baseball. Gomez shows passion and emotion. He doesn't stare the pitcher down or bark at the pitcher in a 9-0 game. He is mad at himself for knowing he can play better than what he is showing. I think in this case the Yanks are just frustrated with their own playing, losing a game and now falling back a game behind the Jays. Toronto is one of the hottest teams in baseball and the Yanks will need a whole lot of luck to end up in first. I think they are just frustrated with all that and they need someone to take it out on. So insert any item that can be interpreted as "showing" up my player and they get to bark and yell about how you should shut up and do your job. But the flip side to it is, Yanks maybe if you did your job you wouldn't have gotten blasted 15-0.
  16. Pujols has a very outside shot at it. He is at 553 (572 if you include playoffs) ... If he can hit 30 per year over the next 6, he would be awed illy close. I can see it now; his age 42 season, he re-signs with the Cardinals and hits 50 bombs to smash the record and bring the pennant to St. Louis
  17. I think this is what's going to happen. This offseason the team can talk trade for Lind with all the clubs as they re-tool and figure out their needs. Hopefully, that means more suitors, meaning someone willing to give up something of value. I think the best thing is to then put Santana in RF (he has the arm for it), leave Davis in LF, and figure out CF (Peterson? maybe add someone for cheap wanting a fresh chance like Drew Stubbs - no matter, they are placeholders until Taylor or Phillips arrives in the next year or so). Braunie goes to 1B - start him there in camp and by the beginning of the year, you're set at the position. We have discussed Braun to 1B and a good amount were against it. I remain for it. I just feel filling RF will be easier as we look at our pipeline. viewtopic.php?f=63&t=30772&hilit=braun+1b
  18. @Ken_Rosenthal: Next to get traded? #Brewers LH reliever Neal Cotts claimed on waivers. Claiming team not known. Unlikely he got through NL. @Ken_Rosenthal: Countless players get claimed. but #Brewers likely inclined to listen. Some thought Cotts would move in July. LHH hitters .576 OPS against.
  19. In Jimmy's case he was able to throw his change with a similar grip as he uses on his sinker. That obviously helped him. I like how Jimmy has added a pitch to "slow down" the timing of the hitter with his spike curve.
  20. I am excited Santana is coming up. I hope Davis gets traded in the off season. I am just not a big fan (and clearly not many on this board are) .... but I wouldn't end his playing time all together as that would diminish is value. Edited as I apparently don't know how to add in n't to the word would
  21. I am not sure but it is a tough year for him. His extra base hits are way up. Last year 6.3% of all plate appearances were an extra base hit. Career average is 6.5. This year is 9.6%. SO % is down 18% to 13% and his HR's are up. His strike % is the same 62.3 to 61.9% from last year to this year. Just seems like when he is hit, he is getting hit hard. He does have 4 more home starts this year (9) vs road (5) ...
  22. I liked Robins comment: @AdamMcCalvy: Robin Yount on Braun setting #Brewers HR record: “It’s about time we got a guy with some real power on the top of that list."
