  1. I 100% agree the money is out of control and as discussed at length no this board, baseball needs a change. But I don't see one in sight as it isn't even being discussed that it is a problem. As for attendance, since Attanasio got the ownership gig, the Brewers haven't been under 2.2 million in attendance. Factors on why I don't see us ever going under 2 million again: 1. Milwaukee has a short summer thus us folks north of the wall, consume all summer related activities as often as possible for our two months. Especially with an owner who seems to care 2. We have a roof. 3. The Brewers marketing / promotional / sales teams are fantastic. I have 3 kids and they just absolutely love going to the park, win or lose.
  2. Oh I think all is upward in Brewer land. Just like in 2005 when the Packers needed to can Sherman from both posts. The Bears went on to win the division in 05 and 06 and appeared in the 2006 Super Bowl. I felt nothing but confident In the teams direction. It needed a change and so do the Brewers. 2018 Brewers season will be fun
  3. That's the key for me. Those drafts were pretty bad. Let's hope the 2016 draft is a good one
  4. Another great reason a GM cant base everything off what a stat sheet tells you. On paper he looks like he's a solid contributor. But watch him play. If there are no better options then this teams in worse shape than I thought. The stat sheet says he has the 10th best OPS among LF in the NL. Which qualifies him for the bottom half. However, if you remove players with less than 200 AB's, he is 6th. (So maybe he is average) ... I don't think anyone is saying he is great. But he is serviceable. I have heard so many people say: Can't we find a better LF, SS, 2B, 3B, etc. See the pattern? This team needs more than a fix in 1 position. It is broken in multiple spots. Thus the re-build. To be honest. I want a top 5 draft pick, so I don't mind the losing.
  5. Give me a break. Counsell was an ok major leaguer and that's where it ends. The Onion disagrees: http://www.theonion.com/article/turns-out-craig-counsell-was-actually-best-basebal-6581
  6. I agree with this. Air Conditioning on those humid days with the roof closed would be great.
  7. But you can't take away the end of game component, as the rules specifically include it. That's true. But it does seem odd that the end of innings 1-8 differ from inning 9+. You would think there would be some consistency. To me, if you obtain the 3rd out of an inning via a force, no runs score.
  8. To me. Both runners are out. Take away the end of the game component and think about it at the end of an inning. If you have bases loaded, the runner from 1B and the runner from 2B both fall down when they start running, while the runner from 3B and the batter both make it to their respective bases. If the ball is thrown to 3rd and to 2nd before those two runners get there, the run would not count. It would end the inning. Very bizarre play. I do agree, it looked like the reds had "conceded" the play though. That part to me says they made the right call and just ended the game.
  9. Just bring the hot tub back
  10. I have been to about half the ball parks. Here are a few things I liked AT&T - the Brewers need some exclusive behind home / special seats. At AT&T these seats were actually dug into the ground. It was an awesome atmosphere. Many other ball parks have these special seats behind home but MP doesn't. Comerica - A few things come to mind at this awesome park. Their Pepsi porch has fire bars, outside patio seating type furniture, ample space. Just a cool spot. They also have these wood type Adirondack chairs around the top rows of the first level. In addition they give access to a special club for anyone sitting in like the first 15 rows on lower level. This club had some of the cleanest bathrooms I have seen at a ballgame.
  11. Maybe I guess. All I know is they currently own the 3rd pick and we could really use a top 5 draft pick. So sure play him but I hope we keep losing
  12. http://www.vivaelbirdos.com/cardinals-minor-leagues/2015/3/17/8231385/future-redbirds-top-25-prospects-for-2015-14-malik-collymore
  13. Nick Delmonico was their #4 when we traded k-rod and didn't amount to much of anything Their system is a bit better now though I would argue. Delmonico, as far as I can recall was never a fringe top 100 prospect. Not saying Davies is light years better ... but I think the ceilings are a bit different. Thanks. Don't know much about their system.
  14. Agreed. Nick Delmonico was their #4 when we traded k-rod and didn't amount to much of anything
  15. Minor league guys - how is Davies? Fair value for basically Haniger?
  16. What sucks is this diminishes value of Gomez - whether the medical issue is true or isn't
  17. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/13343205/philadelphia-phillies-deal-cole-hamels-texas-rangers Top catching prospect Jorge Alfaro, left-hander Matt Harrison, outfielder Nick Williams and minor league right-handers Alec Asher, Jake Thompson and Jerad Eickhoff will be shipped to the Phillies, sources said. The Rangers also get left-handed reliever Jake Diekman in the trade for a group of six prospects.
  18. Wow - he has 6 years left on his deal http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/t/tulowtr01.shtml?mobile=false
  19. Another game to think about: Sheets K's 18 - http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=240516108
  20. I would agree with those. Other games: 1. All Star game 2. Zambrano throws no hitter vs Astros at Miller Park - http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/chi-080914-chicago-cubs-houston-astros-story.html
  21. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/07/royals-to-acquire-johnny-cueto.html Says John Lamb is to be one of the prospects. Will be interesting to see how much 2 months costs
  22. I agree. I have a feeling the only one who will be traded will be Parra. I just don't think Doug is going to let Gomez go for anything less than a major haul. Which, why should he. There isn't any incentive for him to just dump him. Gomez is a premier talent and is signed through next year. I want to think Ramirez and someone like a Cotts will go but I just feel Doug's price is going to be high across the board.
  23. Well it all comes down to money and they gambled that he could pitch well in July so someone would be foolish enough to take the remainder of his salary for the year
  24. It's a possiblity. Lost in the shuffle of everyone drooling over fantasy baseball trades the Brewers are 11-4 on the month counting tonight's result and were 14-14 in June. They're hot, and seems like they're getting hotter. Hopefully brewerfan.net doesn't collapse from the influx of angry posts if we don't see a trade of significance by July 31. I hope they don't pause on making trades: On June 23rd before the Brewers got hot we were 26-46 and the Cubs were 39-30. Cubs are in pole position two for the WC spot. So we were 16 games behind in the loss column. We have played great and have gone 17-6 since then. Current standings put us at 42-52 and the Cubs are at 50-42. So we played at a .740 clip and made up 6 games. 6 games is a lot of ground to make up in 1 month but no team will play at a .740 percentage for a lengthy period. Even if the Brewers can play .600 the rest of the season that would add 41 more wins for us (68 games left). That will give us a final record of 83-79. And that is playing .600 ball for over two months yet. (And if you factor in what we have done since June 23rd, that would mean we played a .640 clip from June 23rd through October 4th.) The best team in baseball (Cardinals) are playing at a .634 rate. And that only gets us to 83 wins. Last year, both wild card teams had 88 wins. So 83 would give us another nice mid first round pick and no playoffs. To get to 88 wins, we would need to play at a .676 clip from today and go 46-22 to finish with an 88-74 record.
